I've had my Fusion two months today. SEL V6 AWD in smokestone. I've owned Hondas since 1975 and never thought I'd switch, but Ford did hit the ball out of the park on this one. I test drove every vehicle in its class (literally), and the Fusion wins hands down. I generally got over two hundred thousand miles out of each of my Hondas - just hope I can do the same with the Fusion. Haven't had a Ford since the '72 Pinto, but so far I am loving the Fusion. Handling is tight, styling is mature and sophisticated ("sweet", as the kids would say), and the technology is amazing. This was a big step out of the box for me but I do turn heads on the road.

Funny ! I have owned japanese cars since 1984, up untill I put my money in the Fusion. My previous Ford car was a 1975 Pinto.

We are another convert, although we still have a 2006 Pilot, which is a great SUV. We retired the 1995 Accord Wagon when we bought the 2010 Fusion Sport AWD. Previously we have had in decending order a 2001 Odyssey EX, a 1991 Accord EX-R sedan and a 1987 Acura Integra LS 3 dr hatch.

We were pleasantly surprises the Sport AWD drives very similar to Hondas in terms of the controlled ride and the sporty handling. The interior is very confortable and it's fast! Only typical Honda things we miss are the folding mirrors, the simpler wiper controls, the separate external mirror heat switch, the internal gas door release, and the better door closing sound.

Yes I 2nd that Ford hit it out of the park. Not sure why I don't see more of them around still.

Yes. I too would like a locking gas door with internal release, especially since there is no gas cap. I do see a lot of older Fusions on the road. The 2010s are a totally different (and much better) car. Right now I think it's still a secret. Funny, I still have my 1994 Accord wagon - 240,000 miles and no complaints. Just hope I can say that about the Fusion fifteen years from now. Good luck with yours.

...and good luck with both your new Fusion and "classic" Accord Wagon. Unfortunately ours needed some work that we couldn't justify knowing what it was worth. It is a great car nevertheless, and cool not seeing them on every corner like regular Accords.
We were planning to replace it in the next year anyway, and we wanted AWD because of the winters up here. (the Wagon was decent in the snow with 4 snow tires)

I did the switch from Honda as well. I still have a 2000 Accord EX, 89 Accord Lxi. But I do have a 1966 Mustang Sprint so my connection to Ford was still there. I love my Tuxedo Black Sport that I bought in June.

Interesting to hear. I've owned Accords and Civics. I've had a 300whp/250lbs of torque civic that was just too much for a fwd car...then I had the 03 4cyl accord, very nice and worked great for family reasons. After that, I had the 07 Si Sedan, very nice also...great sport feeling to it with good mpg.

Now I'm stuck between getting a 05 WRX, 08+ Accord (4cyl) and the Ford Fusion. (I'm in Japan right now, military...trying to decide what I'll get when I return to the states)

When you say you test drove every car in it's class...did you by chance test drive an accord...v6 or 4cyl?

I'm aiming at sticking with a 4cyl for better mpg. The fusion looks like a nice car, it's hard for me to say that since it's a Ford! lol...no offense meant to hardcore Ford owners.

The fusion is looking good though. The interior is a far step above what I've seen in most Fords. I'm just wondering how the handling is...wish I could test it out now.

Much like Hondaconvert, I too drove many cars and the choice became the Fusion Sport or the VW GLI. I liked the appearance, the quality of the leather and the performance of the the top-of-the line Honda Accord(V6)but found its seat cushion too hard for long trips (I commute between Scottsdale and Las Vegas twice a month) and found the Fusion to be much quieter (less road and wind noise).

I have been pleasantly surprised by the Ford's quality. My last Ford was a 1969 Mustang Mach 1 (my first new car) which was a piece of junk. My last six new cars have been Volvos and I have watched their quality decline under Ford ownership. So it has surprised me that with over 6K miles on the car in two months, I have had no reason to bring it back to the dealer for anything - not even a rattle! I guess you could also call me a convert! I am also enjoying 28mpg on the trips to/from Las Vegas.

I drove both the 4- and 6-cylinder Accords. The 4 is a little underpowered for the size of the car.
