SYNC Update Software

The update may not actually be available. There was a power outage at Ford HQ on Monday and another user reported that when they tried to actually download the update there was no server available. But it won't hurt to try.

Just got done updating my sync software to 4.6

Ford Motor Company is committed to enhancing and improving upon the SYNC® driving experience, and we periodically release software updates so you have the latest version of SYNC® to keep you up-to-date and in-the-know.

The latest release of SYNC® (V4.6) software delivers a more robust driving experience for vehicles equipped with SYNC® and SYNC® with MyFord®.27The latest version also includes new features:

Streamlined help commands save time. SYNC® offers the corresponding help prompts only to the area that you¿re using.

Enhanced phonebook search allows you to browse and scroll through your contacts, alphabetically.

SYNC® AppLink™ now available in Canada and Mexico. Now, AppLink™ can be controlled in English, French (Canadian) and Spanish (Mexican).63

SYNC® reboot allows you to quickly restart the SYNC® system to facilitate communication between your Bluetooth® - enabled device and SYNC®, without repairing your device or performing a master reset.

We encourage you take advantage of these enhancements today. Register for or sign in to your Owner Account to download the latest software and then install it in your vehicle.

Never mind. I see you posed elsewhere that it was the wrong version.

I'm confused...I have a 2010 Fusion SEL with Basic Sync, I believe. No touch screen. At Syncmyride, it says I'm up to date and I have no updates available, even though it says the last update was in 2009???

 

Is 4.6 not for me? Please someone set me straight!

 

I love my Sync except for how it always seems to go back to 'Sync line in' when turning the car back on and I have to say 'Bluetooth Audio' which gets damn old. TIA

The Ford site says that there is a new version of Sync ( I think it was 4.6) available for me to download, but every time I try I just get an error message saying :

System Error

This service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later or contact us.

 

Has anybody been able to download the most current version for the 2012 model?

Hey propwash,

 

Please clear the history, cookies, and cache from the browser and try the download again. You can also try on a second browser if available. If you still continue to receive an error, please PM the VIN.

Is anybody from Ford still around on this forum? I have been patiently waiting for a Sync update for over a year.
If anyone has v4.6 for the Fusion, would you mind sharing it?

Are you saying there is no update showing on your Ford owner site account? If so, maybe it doesn't apply to your year or model? I wouldn't install a version somebody else gives you, just in case there are differences that could brick your Sync.

Yea, my car still says the 3.5 I'm at is still the newest for my 13 hybrid... even 3 years later.... odd but I'd rather live with the thing rebooting or locking up or not saving settings, than to install something that bricks it.

SYNCMyRide.com is the official place.  http://www.FordSYNCForum.com has a lot of peer to peer help on there.
