Thinking of buying a 17 Fusion Sport.

Recommended Posts

Was just wondering what owners of the 17 Fusion Sport have to say about the car. Good, bad, performance, reliability, etc.

Don't own one but there are issues with ACM problems causing battery failures. Ford just recently released an update, but whether the car you buy has the update or not is the only thing to worry about. Otherwise, owners who have the Sport love it.

The Sport is a great car, but you would save some money by purchasing a Titanium or SEL with a 2.0L. The 2.0 goes pretty good and other than a few features available only on the Sport, they're essentially the same car. I guess it's a matter of how much potential power do you want to have, assuming you'll drive it like a family sedan most of the time.

CCD suspension (electronically controlled) is the other big sport feature not on the other trims. I agree that a 2.0LEB Titanium is pretty sporty as is. Do a back to back test drive before you decide.

Or you can get an MKZ with the 3.0L Ecoboost for even more power...

I bet the CCD feature will soon be available on the Platinum and Titanium trims and possibly as an option on the SE. Adaptive cruise and ped alert became a feature on the SE very soon after I ordered mine, I would have got it if it was available when I ordered in March 2016.

Thank you all. I like the looks of this car. And with 325 HP/380 Lb-ft of torque I'm sure it will be a fun ride. I did hear about the power drain on the battery. Hopefully Ford has that problem resolved. I really can't find anything else bad said about the car. I will test drive a few then make a decision. Questions I have are do I really need the 401a option package? Seems like it comes pretty well equipped without any options. Maybe the summer only tires? I will take the advise and drive the Titanium AWD as well. I'm leaning towards the V6 though. I'm 54 and this would be my first brand new car. Presently I have a Focus, 2 Jeeps and a Dodge Ram 2500 pickup, lifted, locked, all the goods. But I want a nice comfortable fast car. If the weather here in upstate NY would break I will test drive a few. Hopefully this coming weekend.

Thank you all again

Mark

Missed the MKZ response. That would be an awesome vehicle but a little too expensive!

Hell yes, get the 401a upgrade, in fact I'd recommend finding one with the NAV option unless you use your cell phone for NAV. 401a gives enough likable goodies such as Sync3, power passenger seat, 8.4 inch display, and a Sony audio system that is supposedly new for 2017 so can't advise if it's an improvement or not. If this was my purchase I'd pay for it.

Your profile says you are in the NE US? Be careful with the 'summer' tires unless you plan on the costs of buying winter tires and maybe a second set of rims.

I do want the 401a package. I was just trying to save the 2000 it costs. I'd like to compare cars with and without. A local dealer has one of each so if the weather cooperates maybe this weekend. We just got like 2 plus feet of snow here! This car, if I do buy one, will never see the salt of winter here. I have a disposable vehicle dedicated for winter. I'm north of Binghamton, NY in the salt belt. Summer tires should work for an occasional trip outside the garage into the driveway during the winter months!

Thanks again for all the advise

Mark

I bought a black one with the 401a package and am extremely happy with the car. It's an awesome car. Extremely comfortable, very fast and it handles well enough to take the fear factor out of driving fast on country back roads. Nice car!
