Hey guys havin problem with the 2.0. Car has 104k miles. When i floor it, when it hits about 5500rpm it will start to hestitate and barly pick up, i hear a "pinging" sound coming from the motor as well, and then the engine light will come on and mis fire. Obd says random misfire 2 and 3. So this is what ive done, change plugs, switch coils around, and cleaned intake valves (walnut blasted) and still no luck. Any ideas??? Also, if i back off a little 3/4 thorottle id say it will run fine, and still rev to 6k no problem . Its ONLY at WOT. Suggestions or any common problems it could be?

My guess would be fuel pump, followed by injectors followed by the PCM (assuming when you swapped coils the problem stayed on those 2 cylinders).

Would seem like an LPFP or FPCM issue (in tank fuel pump/fuel pump control module). I would also check the condition of the battery to make sure it has enough juice to run things properly. Did you fuel up recently, or has this issue been across fuelups? Any signs of issues on the old spark plugs (carbon deposits, wet with fuel, etc)?

Just carbon on the old plugs. Also i purchased the car like that. Ive tried using different octanes as well. Idk has me stumped, cant seem to find anywhere that somone else has this problem. Maybr motorcraft plugs come gapped too much?

What plugs did you install? Ecoboosts are particularly sensitive to plug gaps, but if that were the issue, I would assume misfires on the other cylinders as well.

Do you normally run 87? Try 93 fuel. Could also be a gasket that is coming unsealed under WOT, or PCM/ignition wires. O2 sensors are disengaged at WOT. Not sure where the rev limiter is on these engines ...
