  2. To me it would be worth bringing it somewhere independent to take a look at it. I still say it's likely a bad rim or possible bad alignment. You'd be amazed what can get by someone when they are not looking for it. I'm not sure how an axle could be bad, you'd have massive vibration issues or lots of clicking/clunking as well.

  4. we have owned our fusion hybrid (2010) since january of 2017 and it has been a great car, now has 135,000 miles and still gets great gas mileage, no leaks, and minimal maintenance required. now that it is getting hot in south carolina, the mrs. is complaining about the temp at the vents (about 50F) so i went on line to see if there was anything special about this system. it has an electric compressor but according to the label it takes 134a. i found sparse on line information about charging it, and did see that the oil has to be specific to this system, but all i want to do is add enough to get it down to around 40F. i have gauges and know what my high and low should be at todays ambient temp, so i added 12 oz. (first time i have had to do anything to it) and it dropped down like i had hoped to around 40F while driving. i only had the one can, and low pressure readings were around the low thirties in spite of the fact today was 87F and charts i saw on line said i should be somewhere near 40-45. for now i plan on just leaving it alone, since it seems like it's fine now. i would be interested in thoughts and experiences with this system, thanks in advance.
  5. No response when pressing reset or info or settings.. Recently I stalled junk yard radio...does this have any thing to do with problem

  7. The vibration was there before the new tires. I’ve had it at 2 Ford dealerships and they both want to blame it on the tires. Thus, I got new tires. The vibration is at just 40 mph(ish). I’d live with it, but I have an extended warranty and want it resolved while it’s in affect.
  8. It’s FWD. Since I purchased it, 2 dealerships, a mechanic and the tire place have touched the tires. I worked hope that if the rim was it, at least one of them would have noticed.

There's no rhyme or reason it seems. I did the fluid recall last year on my 2010 and afterwards got a letter in the mail saying the one time replacement for me was for the life of the car. I wish they made these things more common sense.

Having a senior moment....I did check the 08 VIN on Ford's website last year and there is/was campaign 21N11 for the HCU unit and ABS fault codes. Unfortunately the 15 year time period had expired and the one time replacement date December 31st 2022 was passed. Its interesting that the website still shows the campaign despite the car being out of date. Unfortunately the previous owner didn't have the campaign completed.

Checked the 2011 VIN number on the Ford "Support Recalls" websites, both USA and Canada, no recalls or campaigns for the 2011. Regardless, the brakes are working fine. The issue with the 08 was not a hydraulic failure due to a "sticky" HCU valve, rather an electrical fault (C1095) for the ABS pump motor circuit failure. I understand that the pump runs very very briefly when starting the car to ensure its electrical integrity. The 08 pump motor required a crack with a hammer handle to get the electric motor spinning. Unfortunately the motor is not replaceable separately, I picked up a complete module/HCU unit from a recycler, swapped the original module to the new/used HCU and bled the system several times using the scan tool and the old fashioned method at each wheel. The Ford recall 19S54 addresses the hydraulic portion for model years 2006 to 2010 which I find odd as the 2011 models use the same ABS module/HCU according to my local dealer. I'll run the 08 model VIN as there may be a recall to replace the fluid with DOT 4 and install a new DOT 4 labelled cap after bleeding. The 2011 model still uses the DOT 3 labelled cap. More to follow.
  12. Hi gang. See the links below for the latest SYNC 3 NAV map update information, as listed on the Ford and Lincoln SYNC 3 NAV map update website: https://syncnavigation.com/lincoln/home https://syncnavigation.com/ford/home SYNC 3 NAV map updates are normally released later in the calendar year, but it seems the next one will be available earlier. Good luck.

Hi SuperD and welcome to the Ford Fusion Forum! Good luck. 🍻
  14. 2010 FFH is throwing Code: C0022 - Brake Booster Solenoid, Additional Fault Symptom (:14): - Circuit Short To Ground Or Open, in Forscan. Power brakes are out, Advancetrak is off, no regenerative braking. The hydraulic brakes work as expected. Have a new 12v battery, all fuses are good. My son drives the car, and noticed when the issue first happened the brake fluid reservoir was low. He added fluid and all was well for about a week. Reservoir hasn't dipped at all. Don't now if that is related or not to the C0022 fault. Code won't clear. Any ideas on how to approach? Replacing the brake booster looks like a PITA At 130K miles, this is my first real issue (other than resetting the battery date and replacing a wheel bearing). HELP!
  15. What brand was it? Does it have a warranty? At the minimum, many auto parts stores will give some form of rebate/gift card when you turn in a battery.
  16. It was the battery. Took the battery to the nearest parts store. It would not charge. Then had the alternator checked. It is OK. Never had lights flashing and head lights be on after turning off the head lights when a battery died. Thought I had electrical problem. Kept the old one to see if I could get anything back for it from the place I bought it two years ago.

Welcome to the FFF, SuperD. You'll find a wealth of information and helpful folks here.
  18. Presumably, there was no vibration before the new tires. Is the vibration from 40 mph up, or just at 40? You indicate that the tires were high-speed balanced. As suggested by WKelley above, perhaps look for another shop that offers road-force balancing. Some dealers are so equipped.

Check for HCU recalls, both cars are likely under that recall.
  20. FWD or AWD? Transmissions almost never cause vibrations at speed. I would be looking for a bent rim first. I'd also get the tire balanced checked at another shop. IF the axle was bent you'd have undriveable vibrations. Bent rims can sneak by even the best tire guy from time to time.
  21. I’m getting a vibration at 40 mph consistently. I have all 4 new Michelin tires on my 20 Ford Fusion. They’ve been high speed balanced. I mention this because the dealership wants to associate this with the tires. I’ve been told it may be the axle, but I wonder if it’s a transmission issue? Thoughts or has anyone else had this issue?
  22. After driving several miles and making five stops my Fusion decided not to start after the last stop. The wife decided to turn on accessories to charge her phone while I went to take care of something. Various lights flashed on the dashboard, the steering wheel and the interior lights came on. The headlights came on very dim. Turned the headlights switch from AUTO to OFF. This is not typical of a dead battery. Battery is not yet two years old. Wondering if the alternator has failed or there is a short or the electrical system has fried.
  23. Used Motorcraft Mercon in my 2012 SE.
  24. How big of cam shafts can I go with stock springs on 2009 3.0l

2 Fusions for the kids (not really kids any longer).. Searched and found a mint 08 Silver Birch (I think) SEL V6 last fall for our daughter with only 70,000km on it. Needed nothing for the safety and she's been driving it through the winter completely trouble free (see below). Last week picked up a really nice 2011 Tuxedo black Sport with just over 100,000km for my son who's Honda is on its last legs. Love the simplicity and the availability of inexpensive parts. Both cars have been regularly "Krowned" so the rockers are mint. They were looking for reliable transportation and no monthly payments. Both cars came with almost new snows, the 2011 came with them mounted on nice black mags probably from CTC. The 08 was owned by a 94 year old lady, the day I drove it home an ABS code popped up. I have a bi-directional scan tool, a trip to the wrecking yard and I replaced the HCU as the electric motor had died. Used one cost me $50. I bled over a litre of fresh fluid through the system to keep it clean. The 2011 had a very low pedal, I expected similar problems with the HCU as there were no codes and the brake fluid looked nasty. Bled it to death and still had a low pedal. Rear rotors and pads were new, whomever had done the brakes failed to investigate the fronts. The caliper pins were completely seized and the inboard pads were done. New rotors and pads, some time spent cleaning the pins and brackets and the brakes are now great. Only remaining issue on the 2011 is the passenger widow occasionally refuses to go down from either switch. No idea why, I'll have to check wiring diagrams to see how its supposed to operate. The original owner says it has been doing this for years and always goes up. Looking forward to the new forum. Dave in Ontario
  26. Has anyone added the stock rear decklead speakers. From a fusion with the Sony system. I don't have them but it would be sweet to add them. Anyone know of pigtails that will work with these.
  27. Pressure test coolant system overnight then use a borescope to look at cylinder 2 if there’s coolant in the cylinder you have microfractures in the head
  28. Good afternoon, I was wondering if rack and pinion bushings are available for 2012 fusions?
