  1. Nonetheless, Fusion or Futura both sound feminine..lol
  2. Interesting factoid about the Ford Fusion, Ford originally wanted to name it Futura but Pep Boys in the US had rights to the name for some tires they sell. Ford lost in court for the rights, so they named it Fusion.
  3. That's all they did was call GM?? lol Wow, Ford is easy. Interesting is this, I was considering leasing a Ford and for that they checked my Equifax report not TransUnion.
  4. See, it works differently here in Canada. Ford Credit Canada located in Calgary does the credit decisions. I applied online at Ford.ca and got an answer in 30mins. The dealers here don't make the finance decisions it's all up to the Ford Credit Operations or whichever car place you go to, i.e Honda Credit, Toyota Credit etc. Or if you're credit is bad the dealers try the banks and they give you very high interest rates, non prime rates which Hyundai and Toyota gave me. So the point is, doesn't matter what dealer you go to here it's the same people who make the decisions, not the dealer. I was shocked. No money down and no verifications of anything.
  5. It all depends on which credit reporting agency they check. Ford Credit Canada checks Transunion where everyone else checks Equifax. I have better credit with TransUnion than Equifax. Which is why I got a Ford. Other's were charging me 16% interest rate, Ford gave me %3.99. I was gonna get a Sonata but things happen for a reason and I am extremely happy with my Ford. I had lots of hesitation buying a Ford because of bad rap, but they've changed over the years.
  6. I have the Tuxedo Black and it's a different black, under the sun it sparkles, never seen this type of black before. So it's unique. Makes you feel special..lol
  7. I also had the 2011 Sonata on mind, I loved the console, buttons etc. I remember the days when you had to pay extra to have buttons on the steering wheel for audio etc, now it's just the norm. So when I test drove the Sonata last year, I loved it. But wasn't fond of the hard plastics inside. The interior of the Fusion has much better quality and I like how it drives and much easier to park than the Sonata. At first I was hesitant to buy a Ford, but I stepped out of my comfort zone and I gotta say, I made a good choice with my 2011 Fusion SEL. I don't think you can talk to the Sonata as you can with Ford's SYNC. Ford also gave me a better finance deal too.
  8. Here's some info on trading cars; You're buying a new car or truck! But what are you going to do with the vehicle you currently own? If you're like many folks, you probably think that the best option is to simply trade it in to the dealership. If so, you may want to think again. Here's the inside truth of what happens when you trade-in a vehicle: First, the dealership's Used Car Manager will appraise your car. And he'll probably appraise it at a value that will be hundreds, maybe even thousands, of dollars below the actual market value. But you may not ever see that appraisal amount. That's because the amount that the car salesman will tell you may be even lower than that. If you accept his super-low offer, then the dealership has made a hefty profit -- and the salesman has made a nice commission since your car is worth a whole lot more. Car salesmen call this "stealing from the trade" and it's a common ploy. However if you try to negotiate his low trade-in offer, then he's got you where he wants you. Now you're negotiating on two figures: the value of your trade-in and the selling price of the new vehicle you're buying. If the salesman is also talking to you about your monthly payments and down payment, then he's got you negotiating on four figures. And that's what he wants. The more numbers you talk about, the more he can confuse you. It doesn't matter how sharp you are because the Sales Manager has the computer at his fingertips. He can jumble the numbers around any way he wants. It's very much like the old shell game at the carnival. And it's a game that can't be won. So if you don't trade-in your car, what are your options? You have four good choices: 1. Sell your car on your own. Selling your car on your own is absolutely the best way to get the most money for it. And getting the most money for your car can be especially important if you still owe money on it to a bank or credit union. If you do owe, call the bank or financial institution and ask for the "pay-off" price -- the amount you'll have to pay to own the car outright. To determine how much to ask for your car, visit the NADA Guides and/or Kelley Blue Book websites to get the current retail selling price for your vehicle. When figuring the value of your car, be sure to include all of the options and the accurate mileage. And since the true value of used cars is heavily influenced by supply-and-demand in the local marketplace, you should also check the classified ads in your local newspapers to see what others are asking for similar vehicles in your area. Once you've determined how much to ask for your car, place a classified ad in the local newspaperor or online at websites such as craigslist. Then be prepared to show the car to prospective buyers. If you plan your "big sale" by having the car clean and ready to go and having the necessary paperwork on hand, you may be able to sell your car quickly. It can be a lot easier than you think. 2. Let a consignment dealer sell it for you. There are plenty of used car lots that will sell your vehicle for you, taking a percentage for their trouble. If you don't want to sell your car on your own, this may be an easy option. Look in your local phone book under "Automobile Dealers--Used" and then call around to the various dealers to see which ones are willing to sell your car on consignment. If you do assign your car to a lot to be sold, be sure to get the agreement in writing. 3. Sell your car directly to a used car lot. Simply drive in to any used car lot or the used car department of any dealership and ask them how much they'll give you for your car. The amount they offer will probably be very low and may be well below the current Kelley Blue Book trade-in value. (Their offer will probably be about the same as you would get if you traded the car in to the dealership. However, doing it this way saves you the trade-in games.) If you do choose to sell your car directly to a used car lot, be sure to get appraisals from several different lots, then take the best offer. Selling your car to a used car lot won't make you a lot of money, but it's certainly quick and easy. 4. Donate your car to charity. Donating your car to a charitable organization is a great way to do some real good for your community - and to get the benefits of a tax deduction at the same time. (Please note that recent changes in tax laws have restricted the amount you can deduct when donating your car to charity. Still, it's worth looking into.) To donate your vehicle, call your favorite charity and tell them you'd like to give them your car. In return, they'll give you a receipt - and their thanks. For more info about donating, visit the America's Car Donation Charities Center website. Trade-In Tips If you still want to trade-in your car to the dealership, be sure to get at least a few appraisals from used car lots beforehand. That will give you a helpful guideline for negotiating. And no matter what you choose to do with your trade-in, remember to clean your car inside and out. A clean vehicle impresses even the most jaded car professionals. And that means more money in your pocket.
  9. I just looked at the Mondeo which rumors say that the Fusion will be copy of. I am not crazy about the exterior but the interior, anything to replace the current bland and boring and confusing buttons everywhere center console. I like the buttons on the steering wheel, a bit more stylish than the present.
  10. Oh no no, lol..i would never get white color car..lol. I dislike white anything. Besides, a white car in winter weather doesn't go well.. Perfect for Arizona weather though. Earlier today I drove by someone from Texas, long drive from Texas to Toronto.
  11. I think you made the right choice. When I told my Ford dealership what I wanted, features etc, at first they didn't have any in stock, they offered silver, blue or teal color and I didn't want any of those mentioned colors. I knew black was going to be a challenge, maintaining etc so I went with it anyway. So they found one at a dealership 1 hour away and they had to drive it over. Anyway long story short, I got everything except for review mirror and blind spot side mirror thing, it's not needed I am not driving a tractor trailer. Mind you the rear sensors does help a lot. I also got it fully loaded because I was thinking of resell value when I want to sell it down the road. Who doesn't like leather seats, extra speakers, sunroof, and SYNC with their car, big selling features. I also got the V4 and just FWD. I don't need a V6 and AWD. Why add more gas consumption.
  12. I am also new here, joined a few weeks ago. I took some pics of when I first got my new 2011 Ford Fusion SEL end of July so far 1500 kms or 920 miles, these packages care named differently in Canada; Luxury Package (Chrome, luxury leather seats with white piping and illuminated decal inside door, the word FUSION lights up/Moons & Tunes (sunroof and 10 Sony speakers)/Spoiler/Review Sensors. Since then I've got windows tinted. Not crazy about the rims though. According the sticker inside driver's side, it was built in Mexico in April 2011. Here is a pic days after I got it, will take more at a later date. Took forever to downsize pic to just 500kb
  13. I've had my Fusion for about more than 1 month and already 1400 km's or 869 miles. I am already experiencing issues with the brakes. Has anyone else had this issue? Perhaps it's my driving. I do brake a lot. When I am at a stoplight and I release the brakes a bit, the car throttles (skakes slightly) a bit, is that normal?
  14. I'm at 1200kms (approx 760 miles) already and I've noticed the brakes are different then I first got it, and when at the stoplight the car throttles when I take my foot of the brake slightly.
  15. Does having bigger tires mean they're better? Some sites say you'll hear more road noise with bigger tires. What's the advantages/disadvantages?
  16. Can anyone recommend something for scratches? today while I was cleaning the outside of my car I noticed a scratch running from the bottom of the hood down the grill. Also on the chrome cap side mirror. Looks like someone keyed my car. It's okay I found the product. It's called Quixx.
  17. Well, looks like I got robbed; A month ago (July 20th, 2011) I purchased a NEW Ford Fusion SEL I-4, FWD, Tuxedo Black with Luxury Package (chrome handles and review mirrors, black accents inside, and better leather seats with white piping, illuminated front scuff plates which I find cool, front and rear prem floor mats and 17" Polished Aluminum Tires), Moons & Tunes package (Sunroof and Sony Speakers), Spoiler and Reverse Sensor. Limited choices for some reason when it comes to options here in Canada. If there was an option for brown leather seats I would of got that, I love the color. I think it's available for the 2012 model. %3.99 interest for 60 months @ $547/month Total Price with taxes $3400 (we pay higher taxes in Canada), fee's etc , total price $29,800. The CostCo promo was over at the time. I could of worked with the price but CarCostCanada.com gave the wholesale price of that same amount. So I thought I got a good deal but after reading the posts here it's evident I got ripped off even though we pay more for cars in Canada. Oh well. Can't do much. But all I know is that I love the car.
  18. Honestly, I was very hesitant in buying a Ford. I had Honda in mind, Honda Accord to be exact. I rented cars for quite a bit so I had the chance to drive different models, which I highly recommend to anyone who is looking to buy a car and has never drove the car they're looking for. Driving around the block is nonsense, you can't get the true feel of the car by driving it around the block. So I rented the 2011 Sonata among others and I was very close to going with the Sonata, but changed my mind. I rented the Fusion for a couple of weeks and was impressed with the quality of the car, only thing I didn't like were the buttons and center stack, very outdated. I was comparing it to the Sonata, which is stylish and organized. I am sure all that will change when the new Fusion comes out next year. Then I Was gonna go with Chrysler or GMC, I love SUV's and prefer them, I had the GMC Terrain in mind but too big for a single person. Didn't go with Chrysler cause I hate the Chrysler gold logo, it's ugly. (Yes, I am very picky). I also then rented the Ford Escape and liked it except for the gas millage and cheap interior materials not as good as Fusion. In the end I ended up getting a 2011 Fusion SEL in Tuxedo Black (Luxury package which I rarely see anyone drive, and Moons and Tunes as they call it in Canada). I didn't get the greatest deal on it but I needed a car because I was renting way too much. I also didn't buy the AWD or V6 because I don't need it. I intend to keep all season tires which if you have you don't need an AWD sedan And they're quite good in clearing the snow/ice on the streets in Toronto.. I don't need a V6 cause I mostly do city driving and rarely go onto the highway, so I don't need the power. I love everything but %97 of it (center stack with buttons, back of the car is too plain, and side windows don't fold and the dot matrix on the back window, bad for tinting, you can still see the adhesive there on my car). The ambient lighting is just an extra, I don't care for it. But I love the SYNC feature even though it can be tedious. It doesn't recognize voice command "Play Lady Gaga", when I say play Lady Gaga, the woman asks "Play Next track?" It's been a month and I've already drove 1100 kms or about 700miles. I just love driving it.
  19. Well, some of you would of wished to go with the SEL like I did, I also added on the Luxury Package (upgraded leather with white piping, chrome handles and side mirrors and black color stack), Moons and Tunes, (Sunroof and Upgraded Speakers) and Spoiler. But it came with a hefty price. With taxes (about $3400) etc my bill came out to $29,000. But I love my Fusion. I am one of those people with this state of mind, go big or don't go at all..lol. I got all that because I was thinking of the resell value if I wanted to sell it later on. People tend to like more features then the basic.
  20. If those pictures are indeed the new Fusion, I do not like it. Besides, it's always good to wait a year or two after a redesign comes out, because of the issues new models tend to have.
  21. Why do you think car manufacturers come up with different and so many safety features, like turn signals on your side mirrors, blind sensors, back sensors etc etc...it's because people CANNOT DRIVE!!
  22. After researching, searching and shopping around forever, In July 2011, I finally bought the Ford SEL V4, FWD (don't need V6 and AWD both are which gas guzzlers and if you got good tires AWD is not necessary) with Luxury Package and Moons and Tunes (in Canada, may be named differently in the US). The car options and in Tuxedo Black I wanted was difficult to locate in my area so they had to drive one 40 (approx 20 miles) km's away. One of the biggest complaints I have which turned me off right when I saw it while renting the Fusion is the control stack. It's outdated. It's boring. And I don't care for the way the back of the car looks, I love the front of the car, looks very masculine. But i love all the options this car comes with including the leather seats with white piping makes it look luxurious. I am sure when the new Fusion comes out later next year all that will change. They should of also have available, which is not necessary, the side mirrors signals like how the new Focus now has. So far, I have no other complaints. I was actually considering to wait for the model to come out but it's best not to since redesigned models have bugs, issues in the beginning.
  23. I posted this already on another thread, but do you have issues with the back window at the top where the dotted strip is, the defroster? The adhesive is still there, it looks wet kinda, the tint shop says not much they can do because of the strip at the top on the back window. Anyone else have this issue?
  24. I also got my black color 2011 Fusion SEL tinted. I got it tinted with Solarmatrix (SunGard) Diamond which no one really heard of, but Solarmatrix bought out SunGard anyway on the back window there's a black dotted strip at the top which is the defroster, the adhesive from the tint still shows, do you also have the same issue?? The tint shop says it may not go away because of that black dotted strip and there's not much he can do.
