  1. Hi gc1121. Pull fuse 12 from the BCM fuse panel, behind the dash in the left side, and leave it out for 5 minutes. Then reinstall the fuse. This should reset the module. Then try changing the settings in the instrument cluster -

Climate to last setting, seats and steering wheel off. Key off then on. change the settings back to what you want (auto, on, on....) And try a remote start. Hopefully that should work for you. If that doesn't work, try resetting the Instrument cluster by removing fuse 10 from the BCM fuse panel and change the settings back and forth. Then remote start and see what you get. Good luck!

  2. The only way to shut off this feature is changing the As-built information with FORSCAN in the BCM. The dealer will tell you there is no way to do it and won't do it for you. There is no customer setting to do it. I've successfully changed several features in my car, but if you don't have a working knowledge of FORSCAN, and what adapters to use, how to use it, or how fix mistakes, I wouldn't recommend it. There are several forums with information regarding how to make As-built changes if you want to give it a try. DanMac85 (I think that's his username) at 2Gfusions has a very good step-by-step on how to do it and what to use. Good luck.

  3. Teleplayer, I fixed mine yesterday. I reset the FCIM, which is the module that runs the climate control, and the IPC (instrument cluster) which is what tells the body control module what the settings are for remote start, so it can command the FCIM to turn the climate functions in. I'm not sure if the resets were necessary, because the heat, steering wheel, and seats still weren't working after the reset. But then I went into the settings in the cluster and changed the option for the climate to be previously set instead of auto, turned the heat on and she the car off. I then opened the door so everything powered down and performed a remote start. The blower motor came on, and the coolant warned up. So I switched it back to auto in the cluster and turned off the heat, turned the car off, open the door and true again. The heat came in with remote start this time, and when I ordered the start button on the dash, it turned off because I had it off when I shut the car off last. So it worked exactly as it should. The seats a wheel didn't turn on this time. So I went in the remote start setting in the cluster again, turned off the steering wheel, baked out one menu, went back in and turned the wheel to auto. Then I tried the remote start again. This time I had heat and the heated steering wheel was on when I pushed the start button on the dash. I repeated the same steps to turn off the seats, then turn them back to auto and retried a remote start. Now everything is working as it should. I would try changing the settings to what you don't want, backing out of the menus, then turning them back on the way you do want and trying a remote start. It seems like the BCM got confused about the settings for some reason, but figured it out after changing them back and forth. Hope this helps. If anything isn't clear, I can try and clarify it for you. If the menu changes don't work, I can let you know what fuses to pull to reset those modules and then try the menu changes again.

  4. Thanks for the reply. It's a 2017 Fusion Energi SE Premium. The Climate control, Heated seats and heated steering wheel all work normally other than than on remote start. It is under factory warranty, however, as a former Ford Senior Master technician and with the inconvenience of taking it to the dealer I'd rather fix it myself. I have access to PTS and an IDS with current level software. I didn't see any helpful TSBs or SSMs on OASIS, tried reprogramming the BCM and even double checked As-built with FORSCAN to make sure I didn't make any changes that interfere with operation. I've been running a Navigation APIM from a different vehicle, with as-built changed to fit this one, problem free for the last 2 years, but even though I don't think that's the issue, that's the first thing the dealer will flag as an issue. Admittedly, I haven't tried putting the original APIM back in. I was hoping to find someone who had dealt with this before and done some sort of firmware change or reprogramming of a module. Any input is appreciated. In the meantime, I will try reinstalling the original APIM.
