  1. Just bought a 2010 fusion sport AWD, new, atlantis green metallic, 260 miles, all options, today. I have to wait till monday to get it (stupid insurance company closing at 1pm.) .The test drive was fantastic. it's just as powerful (and quicker) than my '93 SHO (when it was 'new') that i've owned for 12 years. The performance on the icy roads (i live in fargo, it was -10 and WINDY when i test drove it) was spectacular (it whiped some totally under control shittys in the parking lot) .The options (fully decked out) made this car a no-brainer.Sorry SHO you've been a good one, but you have been outdone by a younger, sexier,(and quicker) model! Only 32 hours to go till it's in my hands! :shift:

Very nice,Luther is i Fargo too?Did you buy it in the twincities?

  2. Love the intake, sound is so good. Power gain is minimal, maybe a little more torque between 2.5 and 3k rpm. Install is so easy, takes me no more than 5 minutes to swap the intake and airbox. Now this 2mpg is just from me driving normally the way I do. If i start driving the way I really like to, i.e killing Honda Civics, revving it up at a light, you get the point, mileage dies. I'm not guaranteeing you'll see 2mpg, you may see no difference depending on your route. I have yet to do summer mileage also. But I do think the intake was well worth the investment.

Do you have FWD or AWD?

  3. Its Black with Black interior, I havent driven it yet, I am going to go drive it tomorrow, and get my Malibu appraised to see what I have to work with. It seems like a good deal. How does the Fusion ride? Does it handle well?

    wow good price,jump on it

handles good,,although i have the SEL AWD,i did test drive the sport, seems like the SEL had more standard features than the sport

  4.

    Hello all,

I'm a long time Ford owner. Starting with a brand new 1987 Ford Escort.....in Agean (I seriously think the color naming employees smoke marijuana! LOL) to now a 2011 Ford Fusion SEL AWD. Just started the lease yesterday. Previously I had a 2008 Ford Focus SE 2 Dr Coupe. Boy, I normally like compacts, but the Focus was disappointment from day one. It had traction control, but, that didn't work. I live 30 miles North of NYC, and we can get barely any snow or ice to years where we're getting storms that average 6" of snow each storm.

I also have had experiences with SUVs. My first was a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer XLT that chewed snow like it was nothing. I liked being able to turn the switch from 2WD to 4WD, then even 4 hi and low. Went next into a Toyota Highlander that had all wheel drive. The Toyo brand tires on that vehicle, despite rotation of tires every other oil change, had to be replaced (all 4 at one time!) after 16,000. Then a 2006 Ford Explorer. Wanted to keep that, though again, couldn't control the setting of the 4WD, but gas prices went to almost $5 per gallon so went economical.

I LOVE the Fusion. I've had it since 12 noon on January 19, 2011, and it's fantastic! I rented one from Enterprise two months ago when the Focus needed body work after a deer hit it broadside. It rode better than the Focus, and that model (which was 4 cyl with no AWD) got better gas mileage than the Focus

The Sync is fantastic and so is the Sirius Radio. Heated leather seats, dual climate control, compass and outside temp display, auto headlamps, 6 cyl engine, etc! Ahhh, feels like home! The color is fantastic. Tuxedo black exterior, and charcoal black interior.

Will display pic on the Forum if I can figure out how. I do have a question, and it's not about gas mileage since I'm in a breaking in period and after driving it around one day am almost at half tank.

The question is is the AWD on this vehicle better than on Subaru models, and other vehicles and crossovers with AWD. I can tell you that plain old traction control was useless on the Focus. Going on any incline or decline had me sliding. I was told I should've turned that traction control off. Ok, how does THAT help with traction? LOL

Any advice is welcome. Here's the pic of my Fusion, "Felicia Fusion".

AWD is fantastic.i try on purpose to spin the wheels in the snow, traction is superb

  5. Hi everyone,

    Potential fusion owner here.

I found a used one at my local dealership for $22,750, with tax, etc. it comes out to about $25,000 out the door.

Ford Certified Used - 100k powertrain warranty

    Located in Southern California

    2010 Fusion SEL

    V6

301A Package (Moon roof, microsoft sync, leather seats, heated, etc.)

    14,850 Miles

It used to be a rental car in Hawaii, not sure how it ended up here.

They are willing to offer me 19k on my trade (Subaru STI 2007, terrible deal on the trade) and 2.9% financing for 48 months....

So, do you think this is a good deal, bad deal?

    Thanks for any advice.

you can get a new 2010(if you can find a 2010)for about 26k

  6. Hello all. New to the form, not to Ford. I've owned a '00 Taurus and current have an '01 Focus and an '01 Sport Trac. I'm selling both the car and truck and buying an '08 or '09 Fusion with all wheel drive...I'm in North Eastern PA and need something good in the snow.

I'm always modifying my vehicles, especially stereos so I look forward to using and sharing tips and pointers from those who already know.

I dont know about 08-09 but my 10 SEL AWD is fantastic in the snow.AWD only comes in the SEL or sport model(6 cyl.).No mods, but have moon and tune package.

  7. Didn't really see any threads on V6 mileage so what is everyone getting?

    With the 2010 3.0 V6 FWD, I'm getting 23.5 mpg with about 1/2 City/Highway driving.

This seems to be a little better than the estimated combined mpg that was on my sticker (22).

2010 SEL AWD i drive about 75% hwy, live in rural area, average on computer says about 25.5,on the freeway at 72mph,can get 28mpg

  8. What do you think is a better selection for a leather fusion in Philadelphia: Black leather vs. "medium light stone" ??

Of course, the black will be hotter in the summer (but how much, really?)

The black seems like it should show the least wear and dirt.

I'm not loving the medium light stone, and it seems like it would show much more dirt, and just imagine if you left a newspaper on the seat: would the ink come off on the leather? (not that I read the newspaper, but that's just an example).

I'm having a hard time finding the white ext. with black leather interior, so I'm deciding what requirements to relax.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Mike

White on black if you can find it,i had to settle for black on black,i also wanted white on black. or white on camel,2010's are going fast

  9. And, in recognition of how terrible of a navigator I am, especially how my smart phone GPS told me to go down the wrong way on a one way street on the way to the dealer, and in recognition of how distracted I get looking down at the tiny phone gps screen on my thigh, I'm glad I decided to splurge for the nav.

I've never had a car built in nav. I'm very excited to see how that works out. I'm especially excited about built in blue tooth for calling.

Between these 2 features, and all the other safety features, I think this is a much safer car !!!

    Mike

I too was going to get the built in navigation,my salesman at the dealership talked me out of it.

He told me sync has gps built in,tells you the streets and when to turn.

I did try it when i got my car home, you have to connect your bluetooth phone ,just like you were making a call, then just say directions, and then where you want to go,then it downloads the info to sync, after it downloads, you can use your phone to make calls if you want.

I dont think it works as good as a dvd based gps, some roads were not on it,of course you cant see a 8 inch screen with the roads on it.it uses the smaller screen to tell you the directions.it is all voice activated.

Bluetooth calling works great, bring your phone with you when you sign on the dotted line, the salesman will pair your phone to sync for you.

Did i miss something in your other replies? SEL AWD or Sport AWD?

    Mike

  10. Hi mkpolley,

Do I have a hard time making decision? Well, maybe :-) (it's hard to decide how to answer that :-)

But, I'm glad I didn't jump into this decision, because I was on the verge of getting a honda crosstour. Safety was a major requirement for me. I looked at it's sticker, and it said 5 star 5 star. I got a great quote, but I wanted to get a couple others, and think about it.

I was watching tv on the couch, surfing with my android powered smart phone, and stumbled upon the fact that the Honda didn't make the IIHS top safety pick list because of marginal roof strength.

Had I got that car and then found that out, I would have been extremely upset with myself.

I then got up to speed on iihs, which led me to the kia sorrento, toyota venza, subaru outback & ford fusion.

I fell in love with the NAV system & sync, fell in love enough to ditch the SUV requirement and go for this fusion AWD sedan.

BTW, the first quote I got was for $460/month for a 3 year lease. Going to 3 other dealers, I got it down to $400/month for a 2 year lease (a much better deal).

In the course of my travels, I asked the dealers if there was any equity in my current leased tribeca.

The subaru dealer said no. zero. nada.

In my travels to the other dealers, it turns out there is $2500 equity in there.

So, my final lease payment will be $299 / month.

So, I'm also really glad I didn't lease the fusion on the spot, or go for the cross tour (which could have killed me).

    Sometimes, my research pays off.

In this case, I think I am getting the best car for me. I can't wait to pick it up!

    Regards,

    Mike

    Hi Mike

    Ok i understand your reasoning

So what car did you decide to get?

I try to do as much research i can on the internet ,it helped me because i have 2 good friends that i trust who already have the Fusion.

    Do you always lease?

I used to lease till i got burned,my job changed and put too many miles on it,had to buy it at lease end for more than it was worth.

    Good luck

    Mike

  11. My coworker keeps nagging me because I didn't drive the sport and just ruled it out.

I did print out the features list between the SEL & sport, and it seems like the SEL has many more features (like keypad entry, power heated mirrors, and capless fuel (as listed on the summary page of the fusion builder on the ford website).

    Mike

Do you have a hard time making decisions?

I went in at 9am to the dealer,at noon i was home with my new car.

Did you know by law,you have 3 business days or 500 miles to return it to the dealer?

Get the SEL AWD you wont regret it,unless you have the money for the Sport AWD and options to go with it. SEL has heated front seats too.

  12. My AWD Subaru Tribeca lease is ending, and I must say I really loved having AWD.

I'm switching to the 2011 Fusion because I fell in love with Sync & Nav and all the Bells & Whistles and the great 2 year lease deals.

I live in Philadelphia, and only drive 20 minutes to work (all main roads & highway).

Is getting AWD overkill considering I live in the city, don't drive that much, and it doesn't snow that often?

If it helps in the rain, that would help me rationalize it better.

So, is it must I justify this to myself based only on snow, or can I reasonably do so based on snow & rain?

    Thanks,

    Mike

I just bought 2010 fusion SEL AWD,also test drove a SEL FWD,AWD seems more stable, handles better but not as good as fusion sport, somewhere in between.

AWD helps in all conditions, corners better, the extra weight makes it more stable.

Im in Minnesota, but have not driven it in the snow yet.

  13. Hi mkpolley. :D There is on my 2007 MKZ (the Lincoln sister to your Fusion) and there was on earlier model year Fusions. However, Ford has changed the button configuration several times over the nearly 4 years since I purchased. This is especially true since the introduction of SYNC, so I am not 100% sure what the configuration is now. If you check your Owners Manual, the functions of all the steering wheel buttons will be explained in detail. Or hopefully, someone else will jump in with a definitive answer for the 2010's, if you feel like waiting.

If you purchased used and do not have an Owners Manual, you can download a PDF version here: LINK - Ford Owner Guides

    Good luck. :beerchug:

Thanks for the quick response,i will double check the owners manual if no one else chimes in.

My previous car 06 grandprix gt had it,it was nice to have,i think i wore it out.

  14. I want to install a remote start on my Fusion 2010 I asked @ the dealer where I bought the car and they charge me $595 with installation. I looked online at the ford accesories page and its about $315. My question is how much did you guys paid for it? by the way the one I want is the one that lets you know that the car has started.

Ford dealer in my area(Minneapolis area)when i bought my new car,it was $415 installed.

    something i might do later

  15. With a 2010 Sport AWD I was seeing around 24mpg (after resetting the computer) on the highway on a long road trip (17 hour!) with cruise control set to about 75-80mph... loaded with 3 adults and a full trunk. To see noticeable highway mpg I'd say you need to be on cruise control for an extended period. For freeway driving to work it seems like my mileage is the same as city, even though it's most of the distance. [edited to fix the numbers because my L/100km to mpg conversion was wrong- ya, I'm in Canada)

My normal commute/daily use avg is about 20mpg. Depending on mood, I vary between 'grandma' driving and dynamic action sequences.

New 2010 SEL AWD just have 400 miles on it.

im getting about 24 in mixed driving, but i think that will improve after breakin period.

looking forward to driving it in the snow,i hear its a tank.

    **update**

took a short cruise on the freeway today(100 mi.)filled it up with gas on a off ramp, reset the mileage computer,i was amazed to see 28-29 miles per gallon.

    70-75 mph, no traffic

  16. Just curious what everyone was driving before they got their Fusion. Is there anything you miss from your previous car that your Fusion does not have? Anything you don't miss? Anything you couldn't live w/out that your Fusion has that no other car had?

    I went from a 2003 Audi A6 2.7Ltwin Turbo.

What I miss: Head room, Folding exterior mirrors, power, one touch up/down windows all around

    What I don't miss: 91 Octane, -20MPG w/cruise set at 65, $100 oil changes,

What I won't be able to live w/out in the future: Back up sensor, Sync (or something similar)

I went w/a 2.5l 4 cylindar car so I could get better gas milage. In a car w/a smaller gas tank, I am getting more miles per tank at $.20 cheaper a gallon over my Audi.

I don't miss the leather seating, I've always thought leather was overrated. One place it was helpful was the back seat w/the kids and their spilling crap, but the kids are not in my car all that often.

Traded a 2006 Grandprix GT Supercharged for a new Ford Fusion SEL AWD Tuxedo black on black Moon and tune

both cars had similar options and comfort, less power in the Fusion,But should be better in the snow with the AWD.

Im happy thus far with the Fusion, but only 400 miles on it.
