rpaz61 got a reaction from LIFusionSE in Car Accident
Thank you drolds1. My apologies as I'm not a moderator. I did a copy and paste from my post over at the Ford Fusion Club forum, where I am a moderator there. I wouldn't mind being a moderator here in this forum, if it's allowed. I've edited my post.
Here's what happened - the Honda Accord driver made a left turn as I entered the intersection. We both had the green light and she was stopped as I approached as she had to have seen me coming. Apparently, she was "distracted" by "looking down", more than likely at her phone, which she said to my kids while she crying and apologizing. When the police officer asked her what happened, all she could say was "I don't know..." On top of it all, when asked to provide proof of insurance, she didn't have it and neither did her mom, who arrived after the accident happened. Her mom is the registered owner of the Accord.
Last Friday late afternoon, I received a phone call from my insurance (State Farm) and they informed me that the girl who caused the accident is covered by them and has accepted 100% responsibility for causing the accident. I will be getting my $250 deductible back. Also, the following purchase was made last Friday night:

rpaz61 got a reaction from WWWPerfA_ZN0W in 2016 CD3 Detroit Meet 8/20/2016
2016 CD3 Detroit Meet is this Saturday, August 20th!
Facebook public event: https://www.facebook.com/events/597083930495741/
Details
We're partnering up with Dead Hook Motorsports! Enjoy Metro Detroit and The Official Page of the Woodward Dream Cruise with fellow Ford enthusiasts from all over the area. This meet will be Ford Fusion heavy but anyone that loves these cars is welcome! We will update this page over the next week but tentative schedule is as follows.
Friday Night Aug 19th:
If you're in town, join us downtown in Greek Town at 8:00pm EST for dinner. We will park in the free Greektown Casino Hotel parking structure on Monroe Ave. on the very top level. You enter the parking structure off of Monroe Ave. The new Wahlburgers restaurant just opened so we will be checking that out but there are tons of things to do in the area(restaurant subject to change).
Parking structure map: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Greektown+Casino/@42.3363557,-83.0410131,455m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x883b2d2bfa8d6e29:0x80ea1ffb49683149!8m2!3d42.334482!4d-83.0414963
Saturday Aug 20th:
Dead Hook Motorsports was nice enough to let us meet up at their shop for a couple hours before we hit the dream cruise! They are THE leader in small displacement EcoBoost power and (surprise surprise) we will be teaming up with them for ALL official fusion Installs/builds/CD3 exclusive parts from this point forward. So yes, that would make them/us the first dedicated Fusion performance shop in the nation and you'll know where to find CD3 in person from now on. There will be details on this down the road but no better way to introduce them to the community than this!

At 2:00pm EST we will travel to 9 Mile and Woodward Ave. where the official Ford Dream Cruise display is. There is a lot on the west side of Woodward Ave. off of Withington St. (behind the Inyo Restaurant & Lounge of Ferndale) that we should all be able to park together in. You will need to pay for parking but I promise you it is worth it. Please note that 9 Mile will be closed during the Cruise event on Saturday.

The Dream Cruise is THE biggest cruise in the world and goes on for miles. It has the rarest and most unique cars from across the country all at one event. After we check out the Ford Display you are free to cruise/walk around and take it all in. It's almost impossible to cruise together because there are tens of thousands of cars driving around but it's fun to try. We are up for suggestions if anyone wants to meet up later that evening after the cruise gets shut down. The evening will be free form!
Updates will be added as they come! Hope to see you there!

rpaz61 got a reaction from Rtipping in Tire Shine
The tire shine product I use is called Tire Shine Plus from CroftgateUSA. It contains zero petroleum solvents, zero silicon, no listed hazardous materials, no VOC's and 100% eco-responsible. Depending on your tastes, you can have it as glossy as you want, or have a matte like finish. Best of all, it does not sling and will not harm the finish or paint on your vehicle.

Makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.
Years ago, I was hit by a fire truck on its way to a fire. A cop arrived after the fact and gave me a ticket for failure to yield right of way. How he could do this was a mystery to me. I pleaded 'not guilty' and won my case.

See my post here re the dashcam.
Is court mandatory for a traffic accident in IL or is that for the not carrying proof of insurance citation?

KDLinks Dashcam as used by macbwt (Edge forum). You can see his videos up on YT at MACTFORDEDGE, or join his FB community and talk to him that way. He puts a lot of miles on his Edge, so he should know by now if it works or not LOL.

If it's her first offense she'll probably be given an option to attend a class, write a paper and probably take a defensive driving class and if completed the ticket would be wiped off her record - or at least not incur any points. That's what they did for my daughter when she wasn't paying attention and rear ended another vehicle, totaling her 6 month old Focus HB and an older Corolla (no injuries). In her group there were 10 or 12 other teens with the exact same ticket - following too closely.

Thank you! A dashcam is definitely going to be an investment. Which one do you have? I'm friends with Robert on FB. I'll ping him there.
At the accident scene, hearing the police officer tell me that she or her mom could not provide proof of insurance added further insult to injury. I was very happy to hear that they were covered by State Farm and even more so that she took responsibility in causing the accident. Court date is 7/21 and her lack of proof of insurance ticket will be thrown out. The "improper left turn" ticket will still stand. And the fact that she caused the accident, it'll be interesting to see what the outcome will be.

Wow! Beautiful truck, beautiful color.
I'm glad to hear that she accepted full responsibility. That removes any hassles for you. This is why I've installed a dashcam in my car.
No worries about the moderator thing. If you'd like to become a moderator, PM Robert Lane and ask. We can always use another experienced voice.

Wow, that's a real tragedy for the car! Absolutely, walking away from it is the #1 impressive thing, and hope you suffer no later ill effects. Keep us in the loop!
