Another nice thing about getting out of my explorer was it had a thirsty V8....Im averaging 22.8 mpg hwy/town driving this means $$$$$$$!
Just think how much $$$$$$$ it would mean if you'd gotten the 2.3L and was averaging say, 29mpg...

I see you are in NO. I live in Biloxi. I was down in the quarter this past weekend just walking around.
You're close enough to know better than that! Sounds like it was daytime since you're still breathing. Seriously though, this city has gone to hell. I'm glad I live on the Northshore.
Poor Biloxi... I really liked that town.

Welcome!

I compiled a list of all the different filters for our I-4. There are more out there and I plan on updating the list as I go. I have a stock of about seven different ones and I plan to line them up and have a review of each filter soon. The part number is in the left hand column. I have the Motorcraft/Mazda/Napa Gold/PureOne/Premium Plus/Fram/STP currently in my stock. So far, I've found the Napa Gold/Wix cartridge to be the most economical. You can order them from Fleetfilter.com for under 4 bucks each SHIPPED. You can buy the Napa Gold directly from Napa for under 5 bucks if you want to go to Napa. So far, I have found the Fram to be one of the most expensive. I bought two of the Mazda filters off of ebay for 9. shipped.
If you have any questions, let me know.
FL-2017B - Motorcraft OEM filter
L321-14-302-9U - Mazda oil filter
7203 - Napa Gold oil filter (made by Wix)
52703 - Wix oil filter
L15505 Purolator Premium Plus oil filter
PL15505 Purolator Pure One oil filter
GL15505 O'Reilly's/Microgard oil filter
P7313 - Baldwin oil filter
HP-7013 - K&N oil filter (made by Champion Labs)
84203 - Carquest oil filter (made by Wix)
LF594 - Hastings oil filter
CH9641 - Fram oil filter
P960 - Champ oil filter (Champion Labs, makes oil filters for other companies)
S9641 - STP oil filter (made by Champion Labs)
Awesome, mrc Thanks for providing this list. I'll have to bookmark this post in case I ever get the nerve to get back into the business of changing oil.

I do run lucas fuel additive every other tank of gas and it is 89 oct.
Using fuel additives in the new Fusion/Milan is STRICTLY forbidden in the manual. It's completely unnecessary and could damage the fuel system. I suggest referring to that text for additional information.

You don't need anything beyond the service maintenance schedule provided by Ford in your glove box. Is he expecting to have to replace CV joints or overhaul the transmission soon?
-
I'm really liking it. I wonder why Ford can't offer this from the factory?
You may recall some news of late regarding Ford's Titanic-like financial situation. I don't think the money's there for special hoods on a mass market family sedan.

:happy feet:
Ok I'm 49 and I've had a few cars (ok alot) - this one has me out at midnight just to sit in the laneway and listen to music - I even caught myself going for fuel at 1 am - cause I wanted to - I've put 800 K on in the last 3 days and I haven't left Ottawa.
Does this slow down or should I buy my own gas station?
It's a 2007 AWD SEL V6 - all options - (no Nav), black with black leather, I just had the windows tinted 22% all around - super sexy.
I'd like to talk performance tips soon.
Thanks
Richard.
Welcome! One performace upgrade I've heard of: pushing down real hard on the gas pedal!

He's just removing the air silencer. Anyone who's owned a late model Mustang knows what that's all about.

That might put me in the 'ricer' category if I do that.
I'm serious. I think it would look good. You already have the metal details on your door handles and windows. The Bullitt door is brushed aluminum though, so it would look a little different. I'd just like to see someone who's going all the way with their Fusion try that out. Seems to me it would get a lot of looks/inquiries.
-
When you gonna try that Bullitt fuel door mod I suggested?

Once again, anything positive is turned to a "glass is half empty" story. Note the very positive comments are stuck at the end of the article like some sort of sidebar or footnote.

I was all set to buy a used 2006 Milan Premier 4 cylinder. Having read that you can't tow with the vehicle I guess I will go back to an Altima, my second choice unless I get a satisfactory answer from the Mercury Dealer. I was hoping to put on a 1,000 pound hitch just to tow a light trailer on rare occasions and to have a receiver for my bike rack.
Both vehicles are rated at 1,000 lbs maximum towing capacity, as are just about any passenger vehicle. But you just don't tow trailers with a four-cylinder sedan. Unless you are ok with risking the transmission, suspension, and alignment. I'm not sure why this is so hard to understand.
Want to tow? Get a V6 powered SUV or truck. Or how about a Grand Marquis? Something that can stand the abuse. It's common sense.

Is pricing available?
You should call a dealer.
There's some convenience improvements for 2008, but nothing substantially different about the car itself. Why not get an 07 for a couple thousand less? October's a good time to buy one because the '08s start coming in.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Ford done good.

Thanks for the info and the picture. One last question. I see that you have the Audiophile audio option. What do you think of it?
It's a fantastic system. Eight speakers, two of them subwoofers located in the rear package tray. I believe it's around 400 watts or more too.
Prior to this vehicle, I had a 10" Bazooka tube subwoofer that I moved between three cars over the past ten years. That was the only way I could have the bass volume match the treble volume. With the Audiophile, I find that the equalization is spot on. If you want it loud, it gets quite so.
Also, there's a feature that increases the volume as you enter highway speed, and decreases as you slow to lower speeds. This is great for my commute as I never have to keep adjusting the volume as road noise changes with speed.
On top of that, having six CDs in the dash is a luxury item I've truly earned.
Only downfall of the in-dash six disc changer I've found is the lag that occurs between when you turn the stereo on and the music eventually plays. It can be frustrating on a regular CD and downright annoying on an MP3 CD (takes longer for the machine to diagnose the MP3 format for some reason).
Overall, I'm extremely impressed and have no plans on adding any aftermarket equipment.

It's an option on the Mercury Milan. It's called "Wales Mahogany."
Fusion gets gloss black and matte black dash trims. Perhaps they mean it can be a dealer-installed option? They'd just slap in the Milan Wales Mahogany trim pieces.

Uh... where are you from?
Geographically, speaking?

The entire point behind E85 is utilizes a renewable energy source (85% ethanol) which in turn reduces greenhouse emissions. That's it.
It gets much worse fuel economy and its rarity makes it uncompetitive. Nevermind that it takes more fossil fuels to make ethanol than is saved by not using it in vehicles.
This from fueleconomy.gov:
Advantages:
- Domestically produced, reducing use of imported petroleum
- Lower emissions of air pollutants
- More resistant to engine knock
- Added vehicle cost is very small
Disadvantages:
- Can only be used in flex-fuel vehicles
- Lower energy content, resulting in fewer miles per gallon
- Limited availability
- Currently expensive to produce
E85 vehicles average 4mpg worse fuel economy http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/byfueltype.htm
It's complete BS.

MG, Austin Healy? Before my time I take it.
Nah. Out of sight, out of mind.

I have a 2006 Fusion SEL V6 and I have noticed the slow moving power window, rattle in dash bulkhead, and wind noise from B Pillar on both driver and passenger sides.
I've taken it to the dealer twice and they didn't do anything about it either time.
Disappointed!
Suck it up. You don't have real problems until parts fall off and the engine fails.
