  1. OK, so I am back again, 6 months later. Last week the "check fuel door" warning came on when I started the car. Nope, fuel door is not open, so I reset it. Then 15 minutes down the road and the CEL comes on for the first time since I replaced the vapor purge solenoid. Sure enough, the code is reading P0455 again. I find it hard to believe that the purge valve has gone bad AGAIN! Haven't had a problem since October. I've put about 12,000 miles on it in the last 6 months but it is just frustrating to try and replace the same part over and over.
  2. I also had this problem about 6 months ago. Replaced the vapor purge valve due to having the same problems as above. After replacement, I had ZERO issues for about 6 months. Then last week, I get the check fuel door warning, and then the CEL comes on not 10 minutes later and has stayed on for a week. Advanced auto checked the code and it is the P0455 code. How could the same purge valve go bad after 6 months??????
  3. I don't know if you have repaired this yet but i thought i would share some info. I just replace both front wheel bearings and you are correct, the bearing is pressed into the spindle (knuckle) and due to the amount of rust I found while taking it apart, I chose to bring the spindles to a shop to press out/in the bearings. Here are some valuable things I learned: 1. The lower ball joints are a bear to get out. I had to heat them and beat them off because I didn't have a $200 New lower ball joint removal tool. 2. The CV axles had so much corrosion that I had to beat them out which mushroomed the end of the axle. I ended up replacing one and repairing the end of the other. I also replaced the transmission seal and fluid while the axle was out. 3. The bearings took a shop 3 hours to press out/ back in so I am glad they did it for $20/side, that was worth my time/frustration. 4. Upon reassembly, DO NOT tighten the axle nuts while the tires are on the ground. The service manual says that this will damage the new bearings. 5. Also decided to replace rotors and pad while I had everything off, they were corroded too and wearing down. Good luck!
  4. Update: In the past few weeks, I also replaced the purge valve (because of the P0456 code) and bumped up tire pressure to 35 psi and I am now getting a constant 27.3 mpg with the same mixed highway and stop and go traffic. Very pleased.
  5. Nice pics. Very subtle changes sometime make all the difference. Welcome!
  6. Hey Diesel. I just replaced my stock lights with a set of 54 SMD LED bulbs but I didn't see that much of a difference. They don't have the focusing, high power CREE type end that I have used in my other cars and they are wonderful. I am going to try one of those in the near future, I just hate getting to the rear bulbs on the 2010 fusions. They are a pain in the rear!
  7. Spank, what do you like about the AWD that you owned 2? Do you live where there is snow or a lot of dirt?
  8. Good luck with it! Looks nice.
  9. I just replaced mine yesterday due to having the same P0456 code. When I bought the car used last year, the CEL came on after about 30 days of driving but it would go off after a couple days. It started to happen more often but would eventually go off again. After checking the fuel canister to ensure there was no fuel in it, I ordered the part from Advance Auto online for $36. It took me a little longer (about 15 min) because the bolts on the 3.0L are tucked in between the throttle body and the intake manifold. I had to wait for the engine to cool off, and I had to keep away from the throttle body housing because it was still giving off heat but I got it in and it seems to be running great. I disconnected the battery to clear the codes so I will let you know if I get any more CELs. I also noticed that my average MPG went from 27 to around 30 but that is just from the trip computer. I will take some actual readings at the pump to confirm.
  10. Throttle body spacers do absolutely nothing to these cars. K&N is a good start. Cat back exhaust and a tune would be the next step in what you want to accomplish.
  11. Finished my grill this weekend to match the wheels.
  12. I just hit 110K on mine and I am starting to wonder if my wheel bearings are going bad too. Just started to hear a hum.
  13. I commute 100 miles per day. I now have 110K on my car and was getting 25.5 mpg (half highway, half stop and go) at the best. I had problems with the throttle body sensor throwing wrench codes so Ford replaced it under warranty and now I am getting 26.8 driving under the same conditions. Yay Ford!
  14. Nice pics duke69111! All of the info is really helpful. I had my 2010 3.0 in last week at the dealer to check and replace the TB due to another problem and asked them to check the codes because I had been getting the intermittent CEL on and off for the past 6 months. It was the same P0456 code and I had cleaned the filler neck but that didn't seem to fix the problem. The dealer was able to fix the other problem but failed to address this one. I am going to replace the purge valve this weekend and I will post pics for the V6 folks. Thanks again!
  15. I personally love the blacked out grill! I plan on doing my next weekend. I will post pics then. I already did the wheels and love the way it came out.

I did my stock wheels about 6 weeks ago. I have washed the car about 3 times since then and I haven't noticed any chips or scratches in the finish. I have just started playing with it and I am planning on doing all the door handles on my 2004 Expedition that are starting to fade.
