  1. Here are some photos. I have a Pioneer 4200NEX DVD head unit, NVX 5 channel amp (bridged to 3 ch) and Focal speakers in the front doors. I have had many nice car audio systems over the (many) years I have owned cars and this is by far the best sounding system I have owned. BTW, The heated seats issue apparently has been resolved by the engineers at Metra. I have't had a chance to implement the new firmware yet, but one of the owners of the kits who had the heated seats issue has reported that the firmware update has solved the problem.
  2. Hi, I have recently replaced my 4" stock head unit with the Metra Turbo Kit and DVD HU on my 2013 FF SE. There is a small digital clock in the right circle of the main dash next to the compass. As far as I can remember, I could set this clock through the buttons of the 4" screen. Now that my stock head unit has been removed, is there any way to set this clock? Thanks in advance.
  3. I went the Metra Turbo Dash Kit route with no regrets. PM me and I can tell you where to get the kit for $400 no tax free shipping. The problem with upgrading to the 8" HU is, AFAIK it also does not have pre-outs so you're stuck with the onboard amps. Better and cheaper to use the Metra, although there are some issues with the "Heated Seats" on the Metra unit that they are "working on" to fix. There is an entire thread dedicated to the Metra kit on the 2gfusions forum.
  4. I had what appears to be the same problem with my 2013 FF. I say "Had" because I tore out the entire system, bought the Metra Turbo Dash Kit along with a Pioneer DVD head unit, power amp and Focal speakers for the front doors, so I will never again have to listen to the noisy stock head unit again. My new system sounds amazing.
  5. Hi,I currently have a 2013 Hybrid Fusion with the base (Non Sony) audio system with Sync. The audio has had noisy static since the day I bought it. I tried to get the dealer to fix it but never got it accomplished for several reasons that I wont go into. I have been trying for years to come up with a way to replace this horrible head unit. I have read about some ways to do it but have not been able to confirm if it is worth the effort. I added an amp and subwoofer and replaced the front speakers. It improved the audio but still have the annoying static. I'm considering selling the car and getting a 2017 Titanium Fusion Hybrid. My question is, Does the Sony system that I assume comes standard in the Titanium have Pre Outs on the head unit so I can bypass the onboard amp(s) and power the system with an outboard amp of my liking? Also, I understand that the 2017 Fusion comes with Sync 3. What are the differences in the Sync that I have in my '13 and the 3 and how much of an improvement (if any) is it?Thanks in advance.
  6. Boy, I have been researching this option ever since I bought my 2013 FF Hybrid in 2014. I have the Non Sony Head Unit. I was looking to sell my car which I love, (Except for the horrible sounding head unit. Mine has static that can be heard when the volume is low. Drives me nuts.) but now there's hope. I too have been considering one of the Chinese unit but have the usual concerns. The poor quality radio issue is a problem but not a big one. Has anyone taken the plunge? There's a guy on a different Ford Fusion Forum who purchased one of the China Units and he said it worked great, but that was a couple years ago and the thread appears to be dead (no posts for over 2 years). I PMed a question to him if he still had the car and if so how was the Head unit performing after a couple years. No reply at this point. Below is a link to the thread. http://www.fordfusionclub.com/213-electronics-discussion/661290-after-market-radio-2013-fusion.html#post9734073
  7. Did you ever get the Kenwood system? If so, how is it? If not, why not? The last I checked, there wasn't a dash kit available for the '13 Fusion, which is what I have.
  8. I have added a 5 channel amp and 10" subwoofer in enclosed box and replaced the front component speakers to my 2013 Hybrid. The sound is better but not yet great. The head unit will need to be replaced if you want great sound. The reason is, the head unit has no "Pre Outs", therefore the HU's amp is still in the chain. It is of poor quality. Very noisy. The challenge of changing out the HU is keeping the factory appearance and functionality. Kenwood has a HU with all the functions of the factory system (ties into SYNC), adds NAV and HD radio, but at present, AFAIK, there is not a trim kit available for the 2013. Anybody else have the "Noise" from the amp? You can hear it between songs.
  9. On my old Camry I used velcro along with a wedge between the top of the box and the bottom of the parcel shelf that helped secure the box. If you do use a bolt, it's a good idea to use a "wing" nut, in case you want/need to quickly remove the sub to obtain more space. If you build one like nineball's, you will likely never need to remove it. Did you sell yours nineball? I wish it fit my 2013.
  10. Can someone tell me what speakers will fit my doors in my 2013 Fusion Hybrid. I've seen the size chart for 6.5" plus 1" tweeter but sometimes some speakers are deeper and will not fit in some doors. Will my vehicle take ANY 6.5" + 1" component speaker system or are there some that won't fit? Also, anybody have advice on the best way to remove the door panels in order to access the speakers? Thanks in advance.
  11. Masterfully done. So, once you fill the cavity with beans, how do you come up with how much volume it equals? I can think of a couple of ways, but how do you do it? Also, how do you determine how much volume to shoot for. Does the speaker manufacturer provide the recommended cabinet volume? I have built home speakers (Tannoy) with recommended cabinet size and have read that some people have used larger cabinets for the same speakers and that the sound improved significantly. My point is, how do you know that the size they give you is optimum? Isn't more better, within reason? Thanks for you insight.
  12. I wasn't knocking the beemer, just hated to see someone like you (who can teach us so much about car audio installation) go. I'm already getting ideas from your build thread. BTW, I don't think your sub box will fit the 2013. The trunk looks significantly different. You mention the jack, the '13 doesn't have a jack. It has "Tire Goo" and a little 12v compressor. I don't know what they expect you to do if you have a blow out and "Tire Goo" will not fix it. Like Jimmy Buffett sang "Like Driving Around With No Spare" A couple questions about your fiberglass sub box: 1. Why did you use painters tape on the interior carpet and then foil? Why not one or the other? 2. How do you calculate the volume of the finished box? You said you would use packing peanuts if there was too much volume. What would you have done with them had you needed to shrink the volume? Thanks. Hope you're recovering. Cheers!
  13. Sorry to hear you bought a Beemer. That means we will not have you here as an asset to our Fusion community.
  14. No need. I found the plastic card inside the large manilla envelope that was in the glovebox. When I first started looking for "The Card", I checked the envelope and did not find it. I looked again last night and sure enough, it was stuck inside the envelope. Problem solved.
  15. Can you send me info on it? Photos, price etc. Why are you selling it? I will PM you with my email address.
  16. According to the Kenwood video I saw for this product, when using the Kenwood iDatalink "Maestro", you keep ALL the features of the factory Ford system, including SYNC and Satellite radio. If I could afford this unit, I would buy one tomorrow. Here's the video:
  17. Thanks FD I am an audiophile as far as home audio goes, so I do understand the difference between just thumping low end and accurate low end, but I want the subwoofer to be able to hit the low end when called upon. So,something that gets down to 20 Hz, or close to it, is what I'm looking for. I listen to mostly Fusion Jazz and Classic Rock, which does demand some reasonably low end output. My previous vehicle had 2 amps, one for the 10" sub-in-a-box and the other for the mains. I don't want anything less than what I had. I'm striving for 'very good' all around sound. My guess is the 6 X 9 subs are not the best way to go.
  18. Hi, I am planning on adding an amp and subwoofer to my 2013 Fusion Hybrid. Has anybody used the 6X9 openings on the rear deck for subwoofers? If so, what brand did you use and how do you like them? There are several 6X9 subwoofers on the market, CDT being the most available. This is an attractive option for room saving considerations. Or, would it be better to use 'mid bass' speakers in those openings and use a sub-in-a-box for the low end? I will have this AudioControl LCQ-1, which is a 6 channel signal processor, as an "after Head Unit" converter. It has the ability to handle several sets of speakers at the proper Xover. Or, forget the rear deck and just add an amp and a sub-in-a-box. I plan on replacing the front speakers in the near future. After I have a chance to listen to the stock speakers with added power and a subwoofer. Advice appreciated.
  19. Hi, New here and already love the forum. I bought a used 2013 from Hertz Car Sales. I love the car. It came with the owners manual and various other booklets but I didn't find a card with the door code on it. I was advised to look in a few locations for a sticker with the code printed on it. Fuse box under the hood, under the drivers side dash by the brake pedal are a couple places I've looked. Although I did find some stickers in these places, none of them seem to have a 5 digit code, which is what the manual states the code would be. Any advice on where I can find this code? What format would the code be printed. 12345? or, numbers and letters? or something else? I have an appointment with the local Ford dealership for a recall (they had to order some parts, so I don't know when). Will they give me this code at no cost? I only have one key, so having this code is extra important. Thanks in advance.
