  1. Fusion owners must be alike. I did the same thing last night with my FFH. Same results. Just me in the car, set a different temp, and it remembered the settings the next day with just me in the car.

On yours when a passenger sits in the seat do you have to manually turn on his temp function? I do first time but as long as there is a passenger in the seat each time I start car it remembers he is sitting there and displays his personal temp. If I start car without a passenger it no longer shows and when passenger again sits in car he/she needs to again touch either the up/down display or touch duel on the thouchscreen as it disengauges the settings. Does yours do the same?

  2. I would be curious who told you that. I can guess, but I question where they got that information) When I first got my FFH, I spent an hour or so a night, sitting in the driveway with the car in accessory, learning how to use the NAV system, the Audio system, etc. All the time in Accessory mode.

If you are never supposed to have it in accessory mode, why in @#$($ would they have it?? :redcard:

BTW - other than 1 reset (Which actually occurred when I "started" the car and immediately shut it off because I did not mean to "start" it.) I have had no other problems with it (of the nature you are having). I did notice last night, that when my windshield washers squirted air, that the low washer fluid indicator does not work, but that is another issue I will have them fixed next time I am in the shop for hopefully scheduled maintenance.

I too used that mode while learning the functions of the Hybrid. I also have used it a number of times while waiting for the wife to pay for gas.

  3. I have a question that I am hoping some other owners with the dual climate control system may be able to answer. My question is whether or not the passenger side control works without someone sitting in the passenger seat. From my experience in my Fusion it does not do anything unless someone is actually sitting there. I have had other cars with dual climate control and the passenger side control worked whether someone was sitting there or not. There is no mention of this in the owners manual as normal operation. Thanks.

On our hybrid it does NOT work unless someone is sitting in the seat. And each time someone sits in the seat it has to be manually turned back on if no one sat in the seat last time car was started. Stupid but thats the way Ford made it.

  4. right. The problem I have is a "start" position in a car that doesn't have a starter.

Yes it would be nice to have the push button start in as much as I can then leave my key in my pocket but as far as whether I have to turn said key or push button that in itself makes no difference to me and I think we are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

  5. Maybe Ford decided that having to push and hold a "Start/Stop" button for three seconds in an emergency was not a better idea.

Good point but I too miss just walking up to the locked car, pulling the handle and the door unlocking and opening. Getting in, pushing a button and away we go. My wife like I'm guessing most wives would love not to have to hunt for her keys and can leave them to vegitate in the bottom of her purse since they are no longer needed. I'm guessing these will become more common in years ahead.

  6. For instructions on how to install the cabin air filter, go to www.ehow.com/how_4911237_install-air-filter-ford-fusion.html.

The filter should be inspected about every 30 days and replaced when dirty.

It appears, at the present time, that the filter is available only from Ford.

Come on, every 30 days. Maybe once a year or 18 months. You don't even check the engine air filter that often and it sucks a heck of a lot more dirt than the cabin does.

  7. The Liners vs the all weather mats completely cover the floor and add a lip around them to contain any fluid. This is true for both Weathertech and Huskey. That is why I went with the liner vs the mat to get complete coverage.

I have the liner but where the left foot rest is they just lack a good 2 or 3 inches in height. You set your wet, snowy foot there and crap drips behind the liner. Actually same around the gas petal.

  8. Someone needs to make a mat that covers the dead pedal area. I have the OEM all-weathers and I have salt encrusted all over the dead pedal area. It sucks and it's going to be impossible to clean.

I wrote a email to Weathertech about the same problem. I would have cost them maybe 2 cents more to extend the mat up a few more inches at that point but of course, no reply.

  9. Honestly I can't tell from "feel" which brakes are in use at any given time, but just over the last couple of days I did notice instances where I was braking but not seeing the indication that the battery was charging. Is this the issue they're talking about? I've just had my 6 month maintenance and everything has been fine. However, I have had brake squeaking almost since the beginning.

Mine does that when it is very cold out and the car hasn't warmed up. But once I driven a few miles the indication of battery charging while braking reappears. I hope this is normal.

  10. What I found was that it causes a haze that doesn't want to go away for about 2 minutes. But if you switch the wipers on when they are coming down on the second to last stroke it avoids the last delayed stroke which helps avoid the haze.

I have never had the haze you talk about. Maybe there is something on your windshield or try a different window wash.

  11. I purchased a 2010 SE a month ago and later bought an extended warranty for $1200, $120 down and 18 payments with no interest through warranty direct and I'm very satisfied. I got peace of mind in case she breaks down on me anywhere.

The warranty will be worth it if only I have to use it is how I look at it. Mine also came with some benefits I can use right away in case something does happen while I'm traveling and I'm stranded. Even if that happens, I also have Ford to help with any roadside assistance.

Sounds a little high for a off brand warranty. That is all I paid for my 7yr. 100K on mine and it is through Ford so I don't have to ever worry about any hassles getting something done, nor jump through the hoops.

  12. This is a known problem and the dealers should be aware of it. All the hybrid brake systems are similar. They are completely different from non-hybrids. You don't lose your brakes, you lose the regenerative part which you're using 95% of the time. The pedal travels down another inch or so and you get boosted hydraulic brakes. It is very disconcerting. If there's an accident, there will probably be a recall. The 2010 Prius is having fits with its brakes because the ABS system is releasing them for a fraction of a second over bumps and ice patches. If I had this FFH brake problem once, I would insist on the TSB being performed unless there is new technical information on the contrary. Read this about the brakes. http://www.brakeandfrontend.com/Article/59197/Tech_Featu.aspx

I have had many cars since ABS came out and I can't think for the life of me one that didn't do what you say the Prius is doing.

  13. This is the part I don't understand. You ARE paying for the repair. In fact, you paid for the repair up front, possibly years before you actually have the repair done. And if you don't actually need a repair - you STILL pay for it. I can understand someone taking a gamble that their repair costs will exceed the warranty cost - at least they understand that it's a financial risk that may not pay off.

Have you checked to see what your dealer charges per hour labor? Just one repair could easily pay for your warranty. My neighbor had a seatbelt replaced out of warranty and it cost him almost $800 because the tech had to figure out just what was wrong with his car. The seatbelts are wired into the computer somehow and it was causing a fault to show up that led down the wrong path. We read here of some odd ball electrical problems that are hard to track down. Would you rather the dealer track them down on your dime or Fords? 20 years ago I wouldn't hesitate on skipping the extended warranty and I did so sucessfully but in this day and age of almost all electronics running almost everything on the car I think the extended warranty is worth its weight in gold.

  14. I sent a 2 page complaint letter to Ford's CEO (snail mail) regarding the map updates and maps in general (old data on a 2010 car) this was almost 2 weeks ago, and no response yet. Next one I'm sending will be certified mail so I know they got it.

Your wasting your time as Ford has nothing to do with the map updates. This is handled by private companies who get their information from the Feds, States, Counties, and cities and with the economy in the dump and all the governments laying off people updating their map databases I'm sure is on the very last page of important things to do.

  15. Just as I suspected.

    1. If you lock your keys in the car accidentally you can unlock it (if you know the code)

    2. You can allow others to enter your car without giving them the key. Works great for kids.

    3. You can leave your keys in the car when swimming, hiking or going to an amusement park or doing anything where you don't want to have keys in your pocket.

    4. You can lock (and unlock) the door while leaving the keys in the ignition and the car running

Number 4 is against the law in most places plus if a thief breaks the window and drives away your insurance won't pay.

  16. Haven't got my FFH yet, so can't say for sure. On my Ford Escape, I can tell the headlights are on by seeing that the foglight indicator is on. Does that work on the Fusion?

That don't sound worthless to me. On my FFH it doesn't matter as the headlights come on when needed and when they aren't on I have the daytime running lights on that I had turned on when I bought it.

  17. Yeah, that Sony logo is annoying, especially when you have already started backing out of your garage, and you need the rear view camera. Things I find useful but hard to find, are the altitude, (on the where-are-you screen under info), but so small you can hardly read it, and the ability to mark as an address point, where you are. I did it the other day but then couldn't remember how I did it next time I needed to do it. And I can't figure out how to put in a longitude latitude location.

I find the altitude useful to often explain why the mileage is higher or lower than expected, knowing if you are going up or downhill, which you often are even if it appears that you are traveling level.

I'll have to check that out, I didn't know we had altitude as this is the first Nav car (4) I've had that had that option. I too think this is great.

  18. The oil dipstick flap which when left up cracks the engine cover when you close the hood. I hear that's been removed.

Yes it has as I have one without it. They changed the shape of the opening to completly round now but it looks like the cover is missing which it isn't as the picture of the old hole is different.

  19. Ok, I've had my FFH now since Oct. and of all the technology on this car including the Nav the thing I find the most worthless is the Calendar. I see no reason for even having it. I had a Toronado once that when you first started it up would greet me on screen with Good Morning/Afternoon/evening (name) depending on the time and say today is Jan. 16, 2010. This all scrolled across the screen. I'd rather see the computer room used for something like this but I have to look at the Sony Logo instead. So what do you think is the most worthless option or whatever on your Fusion.

  20. I have driven my Ford Fusion Hybrid for six months and 3,400 miles and although the local service department assured me that the riding qualities would increase and the stiff suspension would loosen up a bit, the ride has actually stiffened up noticeably, especially since the weather has dropped into the low thirties. I would like as much imput from other Fusion Hybrid owners as possible so that I can determine if it is just my Hybrid or if all share the same harsh ride. My local dealer hasn't had another hybrid in since I bought mine, six months ago. According to FOMOCO, there are only two new Ford Fusion Hybrids in the state of Washington, both across the mountains on the coast. In all other respects, my Hybrid is the greatest Ford I've driven in my 83 years, but the rough ride is causing me to consider going to a Toyota Avalon which is noted for being smooth. There is no doubt in my mind that in all other respects other than the cushy ride, the Avalon can't come close to the Ford Fusion Hybrid. I would like to hear from other Fusion Hybrid owners as to their expericiences. I started up a dirt road with a strip of "washboard" road and my card bounced and shuddered so bad, I had to stop and return to the highway. On smooth highway and crooked roads, it is the greatest. On tar strips, manhole coveres and other surface irregularities it is real unpleasant, one whack after another. The service department won't do anything until they get another like mine in for comparison, as they have only had four in all last year and not too familiar with them. HELP!

I think the Hybrid is a geat smooth riding car. But I'm 63 not 83 and have driven/owned a number of sports cars performance cars and like that type of ride. Before losing a lot of money getting rid of it why not talk to some aftermarket auto places and have them put softer shocks/struts on it. Would be a lot cheaper in the long run.

A lot of it is you were brought up in the time when everyone thought a car should ride like a boat and float down the road. Now people realize this can be dangerous and you just don't have the control over a big old boat floating down the road.
