  1. Have had my AWD Sport for 2-1/2 years and just seemed to get use to it. Never really became an issue with me because I was aware of the rumble-groan from complaints with the MKZ's. No AWD system is without flaws. I recently had a tech on a test drive and he admitted most of them have the issue to some degree. Mine is most noticable in colder weather. My new Edge with almost the same awd system is quiet so far at 3000 miles on the clock. Just enjoy the drive!
  2. Had the flight recorder installed , had 4 instances of the surging, nothing noted in the data. The tech said he would have to do a more sofisticated diagnosis. I did find out that the surging is most noticable at 66-68mph with the cruze turned on. I may drive about 10 to 20 miles and it feels like someone just turned the surge switch on. When it is really bad you get the impression of the front end diving as when doing hard breaking. Varying the vehicle speed seems to temporarliy eliminate the surging. Its back in the shop today for more anaylisis. I also asked the tech if this could be a trans ,abs or trac control issue.
  3. I have not put in any drygas since Feb. I only put it in because at the same time the car started surging, some condensation was behind the fuel filler door. My wife told me yesterday she felt power loss when ascending a hill. Ran fine this morning to the service dept, but no recorders available yet. Tech is still going to check it again. Its getting harder to find eth free fuel here, but I had ran premium thru car just after the problem started.
  4. My 2010 Fusion Sport AWD started surging at highway speeds between 60-70mph about two months ago. It surges about every second or so,sometimes it feels about to run out of fuel. You can feel yourself moving back and forth in the seat.No tach or speedo movement. My instinct told me it could have been some bad fuel because it started shortly after a fill up. As the tank went empty it got worse. So filled the tank and added dry gas. Surging quit for about 100 miles, then came back as bad. Filled the tank and added more drygas again. Drove again about 100 miles and surging returned. Now it was surging at low speeds.I took it to the dealer with an almost empty tank and they found no codes. They said that a flight recorder would need to be installed to monitor the issue because the problem could not be replicated. They did however updated the programming of the ECU. I fllled the tank, drove great for 300 miles. Surging back again at any fuel level. Sometimes restarting car will temporarilly stop the surging. Setting the cruze makes the surging worse. Once it starts, it will surge from dead stop. Took it to service today after major surging during 50 mile commute, left run in lot for about 10 min, surging could not be replicated with the mechanic. Go figure! Friday it gets the recorder installed. My take a few tries because it cannot monitor all the functions simultaineously. The mech said that the engine, trans, trac control, or ABS may have to be monitored seperately. Has anyone had this issue or can relate to this problem?
  5. I have owned a 2010 Sport AWD for a year and almost 12k miles. The rumble condition everyone has been disgusing, started with ours at about 2k miles and was most noticable at approximately 40 mph, lasting only for a second. The noise seems to be most noticeable in colder conditions. I hardly noticed the rumble during the summer months, but now with morning temps in the upper 40's, its back. Why do we not here that Lincoln MKZ owners have the same condition, given that the platform and drivetrain are the same as the Fusion? We are still very happy with the Fusion and we also own a 2009 Milan Premier AWD with 24k, that has had no unusual drivetrain noises.
