  1. Do you know if the previous owner installed an aftermarket tune, such as SCT? It sounds like a tune issue. There should be a trouble code stored in ECU that the dealer can retrieve to pinpoint the issue. It might be as simple as cleaning your mass air flow sensor.
  2. If you have a 2010, be sure to change your cabin air filter at 15,000 miles as suggested by Ford. I changed mine at 16,000 today and so much dirt and dust came out of it that I needed a shop Vac. to clean up afterwards. I paid $21 at my ford dealer for the filter and the replacement took all of 10 minutes.
  3. My guess is your fuel injectors. They do click pretty loud.
  4. I put the Magnaflow cat backs on my wifes 2006 3.0L We did not like the sound and we did not see any performance or MPG change. The two that I own now will retain the stock mufflers. A drop in K & N will be about it for mods for me. I have seen increase in HP and MPG from the K & N air filters on past vehicles.
  5. Winter gas and winter roads have a huge impact. I have noticed a considerable drop on the freeway when it is raining hard (Seattle) and the roads are very wet, thus increasing the rolling resistance. In the winter it is also much more likely for the car to start, even after a short park, in warm-up mode, which is not a MPG friendly mode. I see at least 28 MPG on both of mine at 65-70 MPH on semi flat, dry roads. A combined tank, typically 70/30 city/hywy usually results in 22.5 to 23.5 which I am happy with.
  6. Both of mine were built prior to 3/8/10 and neither have any transmission issues. Maybe I just got lucky, but I suspect it is not a very wide spread issue. I will ask my service manager the next time I go by there and have him run an OASIS report. If there is something there, as they say, an ounce of prevention............... the 5/60,000 power train warranty is pretty sweet, and certainly adds confidence in buying the car. Thanks for giving the actual PCM update #, it is always nice to have something specific when talking to the service department.
  7. My wife had a 2006 SEL 3.0 and loved it. I bought her a new 2010 SEL 3.0L last year and she loves it even more. With gas prices heading upwards, I just sold my 2008 F-150 and bought a slightly used 2010 SEL 3.0 as well. We Love the cars, have never had any issues and they get great MPG. These are great cars at an incredible price. My only suggestion, find a nice one quickly, as gas prices rise, so does the used price for these, and they get harder to find. Good luck.
