  1. The mirrors on the Fusion and the MKZ are the same, right? I have a 2012 Fusion and I have found some mirror covers off of a 2010 MKZ that I want to use to replace the black ones on my Fusion S with. I assume that the mirror covers on the 2010-12 Fusion and the 2010-12 MKZ are the same part. http://www.teamfordparts.com/parts/2010/LINCOLN/MKZ/?siteid=214270&vehicleid=1444578&diagram=KF06550&diagramCallOut=6 [ 6 ] BODY HARDWARE / FRONT DOOR / OUTSIDE MIRRORS / Mirror cover
  2. My wife and I have had our 2012 Fusion S for about seven months and it has about 3K miles on it. So far, the quality has been as good as any new Honda or Toyota we have bought in the past. Question: There is a small split / cut (1/4") in the dashboard. This seemed to have happened overnight. I have bad allergies so I'm always dusting off the dash. It seems like one day it was not there and the next day it was. My dealership looked at it and told me that they would replace the dash with a new one. However, I have been advised by some that I should not let the dealership do that because it is a PITA to replace a dash and that it will never fit as good as the one from the factory does and that I am in for a lot of squeaks and rattles if I let them replace it. Is there a way that I can have someone do some kind of "fix" to the dash under warranty as opposed to replacing the entire dash? I can live with it for the moment, but if it gets much bigger it will be hard to live with. Have you ever seen this happen on any other new Fusions? I know darn well that I did not cut the dash because I am very anal about my cars and treat them with kid gloves. Heck, I don't even use any kind of "protectant" on the interior because I believe that that stuff is harmful to the plastic. Do you have any advice as to what I should do?
  3. Great looking Fusion SE. Those new alloy wheels for 2012 look so much better than those plastic hubcaps did on the 2011 SE. I love the black paint!
  4. I like the two tone look. BTW, how do you like your S model Fusion. We bought ours about six months ago and I have yet to see another S model on the road. I see a ton of SE models, but no S ones. I plan on putting painted mirror caps on ours to replace the black ones that came stock, but other than that, I love the way it looks. My wife and I felt that for the money, the S model was a great buy. I can live without power seats and sat radio and I really love the painted 16" alloy wheels that come on the S model. I think they look great with the silver paint. The dealership had one 2012 model S Fusions and a whole bunch of 2011 SEs. They gave us such a great deal on the 2012 S that we decided on it over a 2011 SE. I HATED those plastic hubcaps on the 2011 SE and with the exception of the black vs painted mirrors, we both felt that the S model looked better than the SE. I am glad to see that for 2012 Ford fixed that mistake and made alloy wheels standard on the SE. Those wheels look so much better than those plastic hubcaps ever did!
  5. I'm sure they will fix it whenever I want. I'm just kinda scared because I'm worried that while fixing the dash, the dealership's service dept will screw something else up too...likes scratching up my interior or after the fix that the dash will rattle like hell. I have read online that a dash replacement in a Fusion is kind of a pain-in-the-a** to do. I don't think that I have ever had this kind of work done on a new car when I did not pick it up at the dealership and think to myself, "Oh Sh*t!", they fixed THAT problem but now THIS is screwed up. It's a never ending cycle from my past experience!!
  6. Today I noticed a small crack on my dashboard on the hump where the speedo and tach are located. It is about 1/4 of an inch long and it looks like someone took a knife and slit the plastic. My 2012 Fusion is six months old and has 2500 miles on her. Has anyone else had this problem? I took it by the dealership and the service mgr. looked at it and told me to keep an eye on it to see if it gets any bigger. He told me that if it gets worse that the warranty should cover replacing the dash. I hope he is telling me the truth and that Ford will cover a new dash under warranty. BTW, I have NEVER used anything except a dry cloth to dust off the dash and I have NO idea how this cut like crack happened. Any Ideas?!
  7. 2012 Fusion S---bought new four months ago with six miles on it---today it has 2015 miles on the odometer. My wife and I love it.
  8. 2012 Fusion S ( base model ) auto trans and it has about 1000 miles on the odometer as of today. Last week we went on a trip and drove about 350 miles (75% highway / 25% city). With the A/C on and driving around 75mph on the interstate we averaged 34.1 mpg for the trip. I am very pleased with the millage that our new Fusion is getting.
  9. The steering when on my new 2012 Fusion S is cocked to the left several degrees when going straight and it is driving me crazy It has 250 miles on it and it did not seem to be like this when I bought it last week when it had six miles on her. I have not hit any pot holes or anything like that. Anyone had this problem. It does not seem to be out of alignment because it goes perfectly straight down the road. Should I have the dealer realign the front end or just have the steering wheel reset to dead center. Took my Fusion to the dealer today. The alignment was perfect. Was told there was nothing they could do to straighten the steering wheel because it is in tolerance. I drove another brand new 2012 Fusion...same thing as mine. Steering wheel is cocked to the left and if you put the wheel at dead center, it pulls to the right. Is this because of the electronic power steering?
  10. My wife and I bought a new 2012 Fusion S on July 20. Even though it is the base model, the silver paint looks great with the silver painted aluminum rims. The only thing I plan on doing to it is to add some chrome exhaust tips and put painted silver caps on the mirrors. We had a 2011 Ranger Sport 2WD that I loved, but buying gas was killing me because it was averaging only 16 mpg.
