  1. This bit above from Ford is BS flip-fop speech.. I made my last post about this some time ago as I'm just dealing with it until I can relinquish my car to Ford to take a closer look.. My last test proved my own point; The car retains 2.5-3+ gallons as it's 'reserve'. I ran my car a good 10 miles past E.. Previous, all I could pump in gas-wise was 13 gallons, or slightly over (with on average, 11 miles to E showing in the dash). I ran it down last time a good 10 miles past E (0). Filled up.. All I could squeeze in was 14.2 gals. I'm at over 2k mileage, the 'learning' should be over by now. This line here from above; As the DTE is based on the indicated fuel level, if the gauge is working correctly, the DTE is being calculated correctly, suspect the low fuel warning is activating with approximately 2 gallons of fuel remaining. A 16.4G tank and with 2 or so gal remaining at 0DTE should fill approximately 13-14 gal. the vehicle is operating as designed. Well.. when will we 'ever' get to pump more than 14 gals into a 16.5 gal tank, when we are miles past E? I use fuellog on my android to compare mileage to what the car tells me. Things are accurate here.. What I pump in, is what I burn and is almost exact to what the dash says. The problem being - I show E, with easily 2-3 gallons left I'd like to make use of.. 300 mile range is not what I expected when I bought the car.. Yet.. when I am 'full' it shows a range of '367' yet I get slightly over 300.. That's the BS part. WTF is with a 2.5 gallon reserve? I'm in line for a 'courtesy check in' that I plan to take advantage of.. Outside of this annoying gas issue, the car performs as expected, no other gripes honestly..
  2. Yep, not all cars are experiencing the same thing. Since it relates to all these fill-up issues though especially for folks bouncing into that 13 gal limit even when right near 'E', it's worth note for someone coming into it and getting worried about potential gas tank issues - experiences will vary as to what the issue is. (Tank vs just not expecting a 3.5gal reserve vs actual gauge issues). I really think most of this will work out to some software updates from their (Ford) various TSB's on this, but will everyone 'get' that update from their dealer unless they ask or take their car in after reporting said issue, is another thing.
  3. Welcome aboard! That Ruby Red is nice all polished up - I think that is the first Red one I've seen with the 204a pkg rims on it - I like, good call.
  4. I have worked out essentially that the dang car has decided it has 3.5 gallons as a reserve.. After using Fuellog on my phone the last few times I've refueled and compared to the car's #'s on actual gas used, vs actual gas put in, vs what it says 'Left to E' vs the actual miles I get on the 13 or so gallons the car lets me replace... It's got a monster reserve it would seem. Does not make sense to me for it to be so 'big' and the way it reports it's fuel consumption vs what it thinks is in the tank vs what it tells you you have left, is why so many of us are griping about it (me too), methinks... I'm getting close to 300 miles a 'tank' on my 13 or so gallon fill-ups before 'E' is shown.. The car continues to say when full '351' or '357' miles to E yet I only get around 300... The fact that I only get about 300 miles out of that potential '351' or '357' or whatnot before it says I am on 'E', tells me I've got 50+ miles worth of fuel that I can get at if I want to run past E, but the car will scream bloody murder about that.. Basically that's also what Fuellog tells me; the average MPG I am getting that the car reports, matches darn near exact to what Fuellog tells me when I enter in the numbers. It all adds up - the car treats 3.5 gallons as reserve.. WTF. The car (mine at least) just will not get into that reserve 3+ gal, without first warning that it's Empty.. The thing that sealed this for me was yesterday; I ran the car 2 miles past E, refueled and put in the most it's let me yet without repumping - 13.44 gallons. In the past it's choked at just short of 13 gallons - with about 10-13 miles 'Left to E' showing. That extra half gallon I pumped this time, equates to the extra 12-13 miles I drove before refueling again this time. This also seems like something that could be fixed with software updates to change the reporting.. I mean really, 3.5 gal 'reserve'? Honestly I don't care if it has a 'reserve' just give me actual real world numbers, and when it says '1 mile to E' I really want it to mean that. Guess I will just get used to running 'past' E to get the full distance out of the car before refueling - as I'd planned to do when I bought a car with a 16.5 gal tank. I realize most modern cars do run with 1 gal reserve so that the fuel pump is never 'dry' but 3.5 gal is a bit more than that, unless the dang fuel tank is flat, the length of the car, and 6 inches high? Still going to monitor my gas #'s, but think I solved it for me (Some of you had other issues tho that sounded different - or maybe they 'are' the same, hope this helps someone).
  5. Found this while reading up on some options I didn't realize I had in my own car. Edmunds seems to suggest the same thing that I 'felt' after driving 3 other mid-size cars(Honda S, Passat, Sonata) to compare then getting into the Fusion. It handles the best and 'feels' the road best. Small clip from Edmunds; http://www.edmunds.com/ford/fusion/2013/ Driving ImpressionsWithin the crowded segment of domestic midsize sedans, we had always complimented the Fusion for the most European-flavored driving experience. The 2013 Ford Fusion raises the bar even higher, combining a comfortable and controlled ride with engaging handling. Electric-assist power steering now comes standard on all Fusion models. While we've typically found these systems notably lacking in feel, the Fusion's example proves remarkably communicative, and it's one of the better versions of this new industry-wide trend. This sedan is confident and composed when cornering, and very much at the top of its class. The Fusion is also remarkably quiet on the highway.
  6. I think all your Q's were covered here except for the fog lights - yes they are part of the 204a appearance pkg. 204a consists of: Rear Spoiler 18" 5 spoke alloy wheels (235/45/18 are what mine came wrapped in) Foglights Leather-wrapped steering wheel Special cloth upholstery (Black w/ red stitching is what came on mine w/ the 204a) I also made use of the $1500 incentive (certain areas only?) as it was available to me, combined with my companies x-plan - took 3k off my total.
  7. I certainly would have ordered my 2.0 in Manual if it were available, no hesitation. Likely they are saving that for next year's 'Fusion S' or some likely arrival on this platform in the next few years if not 2014. Or,given their new names, Fusion ST right..? All I hear are rave reviews from the 1.6 guys on the Manual's buttery goodness. Imagine that attached to the 2.0.. :/
  8. The titanium does come with perforated leather compared to the SE, and is a little different on the cushion design. I'm 6'5" and have no seat complaints or view complaints with my SE so far, longest drive has admittedly been only 1 hour. I actually don't even have the seat all the way 'back' and I'm fine. Seat complaints though to me are a pretty mundane problem; the human arse was not 'meant' to be seated in one place for so long, despite society's twist to make it so.. Your butt will be pretty numb in a Fusion, or a BMW after 4 hours. In fact unless BMW seating has gotten better - 3 series seating wishes it could be so comfortable (been there done that too).
  9. I am thinking they are getting close since the ST tunes are close; The ST comes in Manual only, the Fusion 2.0 is auto only. That in itself is likely a programming twist on things. Whoever gets a stable 93O tune that I can pull down fairly cheaply for an SFX/X3 Tuner along with an intake (Already have an X3 that reads my car perfectly) gets them a quick sale either way.
  10. Every time I read a post from a new owner - I learn about 'another' new feature on these cars (seems on mine too!). I had no idea the car could 'sense' when I grab the handle and do stuff, time to run outside and check this out. Thanks!
  11. The delay in the deployment of the E-brake would have me a bit worried about any semblance of 'control' of when you want it on or not. I'd want a 'lot' of empty pavement to play with it. There was some debate about a recent VW GTI video showing it 'drifting' in a parking lot - it also has an e-brake (Most were saying it was just power sliding and not really drifting - which I think I agreed with). Be curious to hear - and see the results! :D
  12. As has been said - high 5 for keeping us updated on your side. I was awaiting a follow-up day to get my car to my dealer, this info helps arm me before I go in!
  13. This is mostly what I actually meant, semantics aside. Either way - not many out there which is a shame (everyone should know how to row, even if you don't need to!). I would have liked to test-row one to see how it felt, but there wasn't one remotely near enough to my area to want to go hunt it down (Think I was looking at a 2+ hr drive down to central GA in Macon to find one - none in the ATL area at the time). So tell me, do the manuals also come with the electronic parking brake, or a standard hydraulic?
  14. If the MT could be mounted to the 2.0, I'd have hit it without blinking. I'm quite used to rowing my gears and miss it, not enough to miss out on the 2.0 though. Unless a dealer specifically ordered a 6MT, I don't think you will find them on lots. From what I understand and what my salesman told me while shopping - they were not shipped any in that build unless specifically dealer requested. If that's true it might be why there are so few on the lots to even test drive.
  15. Thanks for sharing, the Top Gear guys are not always technical - more like regular drivers like us. I can appreciate their thoughts on cars - especially when you understand where each of the 3 guys are coming from in their decision-making.
