  1. That was a good idea but I ended up doing it different I removed OEM speaker and housing. I ripped the speaker apart and cut the plastic ribs from the housing. I also had to remove the foam around the face of speaker for reusing. http://i1355.photobucket.com/albums/q707/markmanuel1/null_zpsdf2421c9.jpg I installed new speaker into housing and soldered new wires into housing adapter. These go to new cross over mounted inside door panel http://i1355.photobucket.com/albums/q707/markmanuel1/null_zps7f1434fc.jpg After sound proofing door and inside door panel, I mounted crossover inside door panel along with new tweeter. http://i1355.photobucket.com/albums/q707/markmanuel1/null_zps56dc50a4.jpg The OEM plug connects to OEM housing and everything works great!! http://i1355.photobucket.com/albums/q707/markmanuel1/null_zps4cd8c991.jpg
  2. Hmmm interesting thought. As far as the crossover my new Polk DB6501 components came with a new crossover. I actualy have everything installed in the drivers door waiting to hopefully find a adapter. I never like cutting off OEM plugs for some reason. I just don't get why they don't make an adapter.
  3. I posted this on someone else's thread and then thought I should probably start a new thread instead of high jacking his. I started a component speaker (DB6501) upgrade last night and ran into a problem. I have the SE with premium sound (I laugh as I type the word premium). The speaker harness that attached to the mid woofer apparently has changed and there is no adapter available yet for it. It has 4 wires going into the plug that attaches to the OEM speaker. I believe 2 of the 4 wires are leaving the plug to feed the tweeter. The other 2 are feeding the woofer. I don't want to cut the OEM plug for many reasons. Has anyone installed new components into a premium audio system and if so please shed some light on how it was done?
