  1. I had this last year, same issue. The cause was a corroded and broken front wheel ABS sensor wire. I was puzzled for a few months couldn't find anything wrong. I went as far as to replace all 4 ABS wheel sensors, Turned out to be the sensor cable was just corroded and broken inside the plastic wire loom just after the ABS connector, so of course when I replaced the sensor it didn't fix it because the wire break was further along on the other side of the connector. Doh. Anyhow, there is a youtube video showing this and how to fix it. The corrosion and break on mine was IDENTICAL to what's on the video. A quick clean and re-solder of the broken wire solved everything. No code clearing or reprogramming needed.
  2. i just had to replace the power steering rack on my 2013 Fusion, 145k km. First the repair shop just reset the computer and got rid of the codes and I was back on the road, but that only worked for 4 days and 500 km. Problem came back, and this time wouldn't go away - they could clear the codes but they would comeback and no power steering as soon as the wheel was turned once. So, a new rack was installed. It didn't take long, and they had a Ford software tool so they were able to reprogram it without sending to the dealer. Cost was $150 for the first code clearing exercise (waste of money, it didn't solve anything), then $2200 for the replacement. The rack itself was $1400, another $150 to reprogram, $150 for wheel alignment, and the rest was labour and 13% HST. All prices were CAD of course. It's been 3 days and 100 km so far so good with the new rack installed. As stated, they aren't cheap; I didn't shop around for a repair centre, I just went to "my man" down the street. HIH.
  3. I have a 2013 Fusion Se, only 135k km, but 9 Ontario winters worth of road salt and corrosion. Symptom was sudden, ABS, Traction Control, Stability, and Air Bag lights came up. Power steering was also gone and the white steering wheel direction lines on backup camera dispersed - plus Service AdvanceTrac and Hill Start Not Available displayed on start up. I pulled codes, decided it was a ABS wheel speed sensor, so I went to inspect/test them - in the process of removing one I ended up breaking it - it was well stuck with debris and corrosion in the hole in the knuckle. Anyhow long story shor, replaced all 4 speed sensors, problem persisted. I found this You Tube and it lead me to the specific issue - mine was exactly the same problem. Spliced the wire and good as gold again.
  4. that's what I see, roughly.
  5. Hehehe, yea I hate em too. But I found if i left my gloved finger pressed on for a while it would activate the heated seats.
  6. I did a Google search and found this is a common and intermittent issue. On starting up this evening on the way home from work, everything was back to normal. So, solved for now... but it may manifest again.
  7. Was working yesderday, dead this morning. Radio didn't come on when started (normally left on...so radio comes on when started), toay nothing. other functions work... no audio, no voice commands etc. CD will play if I eject then reinsert the disc... but volume knob doesn't light and doesn't work, power on/off (both knob and touch screen) don't work. Any ideas? Fuse? If so where? Is there a reset somewhere? Pull battery terminal perhaps? advice appreciated.
  8. I was tracking fuel consumption for a while, on Gas Buddy. Attached. The numbers are combined freeway/highway/city driving for each fill. The trip computer best results I posted from the on board computer trip meter (6l/100 and 7l/100) are for freeway driving on 400 series (flat and smooth, low elevation) cruise control over about 200-300 km @108 kmh, me and light luggage on board. My overall average is 8.7l/100 calculated and on the trip meter it shows overall 8.8 so the trip meter seems to be pretty close.
  9. With winter tires and temps around freezing, my trip computer is showing about 7l/100 (34 mpg) for freeway driving vs about 6l/100 (39 mpg) in the summer, so that is a 5 mpg drop. I have the 1.6 ecoboost.
  10. With transmission in S mode, the dash doesn't display the gear its in unless/until you press the paddle up or down. Is there a way to display the gear its in all the time?
  11. The OP said "The reason I am asking, is ......I have purchased a small solar trickle charger and am wondering if I need to wire it up directly or if I can get away with plugging it into an always-on socket (If one exists, it is meant to work that way)." and it seems that the answer is the power points are always live so if the OP plugs the trickle charger into one it should work, no need to wire it in separately. However, the existing battery seems to be FUBAR and replacing it is the best option.
  12. That one is easy, just adjust seat and mirrors to your liking and press and hold one of the buttons till it goes beep.
  13. 1000 lb for the 2.5/1.6 and 2000lb for the 2.0. My guess the new 1.5 would also be 1000 lb - check manual to be sure.
  14. I just read the markings on the tires and they are the Energy A/S, warrantied to 105,000 km. Something seems amiss with my tires. I bought the vehicle used from local Ford dealer.
  15. I just changed over to winter tires on my 2013 SE 1.6 that had factory original Michelin Energy Savers, 235/50R/17. I have only 34000 km on the factory tires but the tire wear indicators show only 1/16" wear left on them which would mean 40000k and they are done. Is this typical for the OEM tires? The wear on all 4 is pretty even, and they have been rotated front to back.
