Hi everyone, I’m pretty new to this forum so my apologies if I should be asking this question somewhere else.
I brought my 2014 Ford Fusion to the dealership for some issues related to the backup camera. During this, they needed to take apart the car to access some wires. The next day I hear back from the dealership and technician is saying that the drivers seat “fell off the track” and it’s “absolutely not their fault” but rather a result of food under the seat. They are trying to charge $1000+ for a new seat!
I’m no mechanic, but I don’t think it takes a genius to be suspicious that some French fries could cause the seat to FALL OFF THE TRACKS!? I see a few possibilities here:
1 - the seat did not fall off the track but maybe another issue occurred. The technicians are either to lazy to explain what’s actually going on or they don’t understand either.
2 - while working on the backup camera issue, the mechanics needed to remove the seat and clearly man handled it causing it to come off the tracks.
I should add that this is my girlfriends car and she has been bringing it in for all of the work. I think that they are trying to scam her. They see a girl and falsely assume she must be an easy target and try to hustle her for money.
More details:
- this is an official ford dealership
- car seat has never had an issue
- car seat worked before dropping car off.
Are we we being scammed? I just want to know if the claims of the technicians are even remotely possible. This sounds crazy to me but I would appreciate any input!
