  1. The updated stat for the 2013 Fusion, 45 repair trips per 100 cars per year, is "moderate," a little worse than average. In general the latest Fords have scored similarly, in some cases worse. Ford Fusion reliability ratings and comparisons
  2. We'll have an updated stat for the 2013 Fusion later this month. 49 responses this time around, which is pretty good, but more is always better.
  3. We have an initial stat for the 2013 Fusion. With 25 owners responding, 24 reported no repairs at all, while one reported multiple problems. This yielded a moderate overall repair frequency, but one that will likely improve with more data in future updates. To sign up to help: http://www.truedelta.com/join
  4. More owners now signed up, but not nearly as many as for the 2013 Accord. Have many people gotten their 2013 Fusion?
  5. Thanks to the help of people here, we've been providing reliability stats for the first-generation Fusion for the past few years. These stats are updated quarterly, so we could potentially have some for the 2013 Fusion as soon as next May--just a matter of getting enough cars enrolled. Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter. 6. Control arms are usually damaged from hitting a large pothole or a curb. They probably weren't bad from the factory. The rest is just (bad) luck of the draw. There's no connection between minor trim issues now and a failed transmission down the road.
  7. Exactly. Ford is getting good PR out of this, but it's BS. The 3.5 adds about $2,600 over the non-hybrid four. So they're actually charging about $2,600 for the hybrid bits. They're not free.
  8. Sounds like a good guess. Did you try to look yourself?
  9. I conduct a real-world fuel economy survey that includes driving style and driving conditions. Responses for the Fusion here: Real-world Ford Fusion gas mileage Some 2010s are at the top of the page, others are at the bottom. Yes, I need to better organize the information...
  10. I'd personally want the Sport, but for you SEL was clearly the way to go. Enjoy it!
  11. Motor Trend has announced that the Ford Fusion has won its Car of the Year award. Why the win? Probably because the Ford Fusion has become the poster child for Detroit's ability to build a good car for the average person. It's the car that car enthusiasts now recommend to their aunt or their non-enthusiast friends when they don't want to recommend a Toyota Camry or Honda Accord. The Hybrid gets great fuel economy. And the Sport is fun to drive. It certainly helps that the Fusion how has four model years with proven reliability: Ford Fusion reliability comparisons Another finalist, the Camaro, as good as it is for what it is, is too much a symbol of the old Detroit way of doing things to win an award like this.
  12. As I commented on that article itself yesterday, it's arguments don't make sense. Not the Ford isn't improving quality. But the reasons this article gives wouldn't explain why this improvement started back in 2005 or so.
  13. Nice observation on the 60/40 split. I wonder how many cars with folding passenger seats get it right. I do love the feature in my wife's car.
  14. Thanks for the mention. Unfortunately, this experience is possible with any car, the odds just vary.
  15. I was in a LM showroom last week, and an MKZ there had badly misaligned window trim. The little triangle behind the rear door was not far out of line with the door's window trim...much worse than the trunk pic above. They're clearly not closely inspecting even the Lincolns at the plant, or at the dealer. Even so, these cars do seem to require few repairs.
