  1. It was the battery. Took the battery to the nearest parts store. It would not charge. Then had the alternator checked. It is OK. Never had lights flashing and head lights be on after turning off the head lights when a battery died. Thought I had electrical problem. Kept the old one to see if I could get anything back for it from the place I bought it two years ago.
  2. After driving several miles and making five stops my Fusion decided not to start after the last stop. The wife decided to turn on accessories to charge her phone while I went to take care of something. Various lights flashed on the dashboard, the steering wheel and the interior lights came on. The headlights came on very dim. Turned the headlights switch from AUTO to OFF. This is not typical of a dead battery. Battery is not yet two years old. Wondering if the alternator has failed or there is a short or the electrical system has fried.
  3. Used Motorcraft Mercon in my 2012 SE.
  4. Should have got back sooner. Replaced the throttle body. So far all is well. Believe I need to remember to check the torque on the bolts and strap on the boot from the air filter.
  5. Hey, Ramps - While those ramps may be good, they are like mine and do not get the car up high enough. Check out the ones at Walmart or auto parts stores. Oil Filter - Since I got my 2012 SE have always bought the MotorCraft filter at Walmart. While it may cost a little more, I just wanted my new car in 2011 to have the MotorCraft oil and filter. And maybe it does not make any difference. Have been told all oil filters are the same. Some of the more expensive oil filters have more stuff inside to supposedly filter the oil better. Also buy the MotorCraft blend motor oil at Walmart. When changing the filter compare it to the old one. Make sure the seal is the same size and the filter should spin on easily. Oil plug - Do not have a separate gasket on the oil plug of my 2012 Fusion SE. It has a washer head with a gasket or rubber like washer under the head. That seal does not come off the plug. Check out the ones at Advance Auto. The cheaper version has a plastic seal with it. Have used the same plug since the get go. Changed the oil again this past Friday. If ye feel like you need to get a new oil plug, order from Advance or Auto Zone. Take your time changing the oil. Think twice. And while you are at it, check the fluid levels. You will feel better about your car doing the work yourself and maybe yourself too.
  6. Check every ground point on the car. Take the connector lose and clean the connector and the area it is connected to. You can have a poor ground at any point on the car and it can cause a problem somewhere else. If that does not solve the problem, then remove the third brake and check it. It could be shorted or corroded inside and have to be replaced.
  7. You are correct drolds1. Gotta buy the whole thing. Forgot that til starting looking at the picture on websites. Thanks.
  8. Got this code today: P2119. First noticed the wrench light lit up later the check Engine light came on. Replaced the throttle body back in fall of 2017. Got it from Auto Zone with lifetime warranty. How do I know if the throttle position sensor is the problem or the throttle body itself?
  9. Wild guess... This has something to do with the seal. When it is open apply some silicone. I should do the same to help preserve the seal on my Fusion.
  10. How can you get to the blend door? The actuator on my 2012 works. The blend door is stuck. Last spring, I was able to turn the little knob by hand. Now that we have cold weather cannot turn the knob to move the blend door back to divert warm air to the vents. Cannot even find a picture of the blend door. Wonder if I could buy one.
  11. Now that we have cold weather again, thought I could just turn the knob to move the blend door for heat. Wrong. It is stuck. This past spring was actually surprised it moved. Now I wonder if it is frozen or debris in the duct has it jammed.
  12. My problem is with the blend door itself. Every search I make gives info on the actuator, not the blend door, which works fine. Once tried to turn the blend door knob and could not. It is supposed to turn easily. At a later time was able to turn the knob and turned it so we get cool air.
  13. First suggestion would be to check the alternator. What voltage do you get when you are cranking the engine? Also check for corroded grounds. Take the ground connections lose and clean the connectors and point of connection. Bad ground connections can cause a lot of aggravation.
  14. Temperature dropped below the teens here over the Christmas weekend. Had to wait till temps got above freezing, and sunshine to warm up the car, before the cable released. Question is do I need to replace the cable? Can I force some kind of lubricant into the sleeve of the cable?
  15. Have a 2012 Fusion. It has a USB port in the bottom part of the center console towards the dashboard below the AUX. There is a power point, or what I call a cigarette lighter plug, to the right of these in the console.
  16. Does every plug fire? Are the coils good?
  17. Did the service manager mention any diagnostic code numbers? If not, take it to a parts store and ask them to check for any codes that may have come up.
  18. At a loss to understand all this. Do not have automatic controls on my 2012 SE. The registers have a wheel to open and close the louvers and a bar that slides left to right to direct the flow of air left, center or right. Would like to see a diagram of the duct work to see how to access the blend door. The blend door on my 2012 SE is stuck. I got ripped off on an eBay purchase of a manual.
  19. Wear a full-face mask, take every precaution: Use a propane torch to heat the nut. Try to keep the flame just around the nut to concentrate heat on the nut. This should allow you to get nut loose. Also note that P&B Blaster has the best penetrating oil. Since you have already broke a breaker bar. Use it after the nut cools down. WD-40 is a great product, but it is not penetrating oil.
  20. This could be a loose connection or intermittent short. Check every ground connection and clean connector if there is corrosion.
  21. Have searched the forum and the internet. Looking for a diagram of the ventilation duct of a 2012 SE. After removing the actuator, reconnected the actuator connector to check for operation. Could see the knob or button rotate. Read that I should be able to move the blend door by hand. It is stuck. Can find actuators but not a blend door. Where do I find a blend door and diagram for replacement?
  22. Yesterday the A/C worked. Do not know why but it did. We made about 10 stops during the day. Each time A/C came on with cool air. So now that an appointment has been made for possible repair it is working now.
  23. I did this It worked a couple of times. Other times it did not. Would like to see a troubleshooting chart for Fusion A/C. Would like to have some diagrams too. Get hot air from the vents. Replaced cabin filter. Evap line cold. Compressor cycles on and off. Gage on can of R-134a shows that refrigerant pressure is good, so I did not add any. Wife cannot wait so will probably have to take it somewhere. Would rather know exactly what is wrong and do-it-myself.
  24. ABS and TCS lights are on solid. So, you cannot turn on the TCS with the button on the console?
  25. Replace the bulb. It may be about to burn out. If problem continues, check ground wire points for good connection.
