  1. Hi ddeem, I'm sorry I can't help. There is an ancient thread about this topic. I have had a dead battery in my FFH, and at first I thought the door key didn't work. But I tried several times and it did unlock the door. From that old thread, some believe it matters if you have used the key fob to lock the door before the battery died. Others hold that the mechanical lock can always be operated by the key. It seems very unlikely that Ford would screw up the door lock on just one model. -m
  2. I'm following this thread with bated breath! I had the ABS & traction warnings and very low pedal. My car isn't in the recall group. (2010 Fusion hybrid) The regeneration is a little funny too. I drove with those warnings for several weeks. I ordered a junk yard HCU and a pressure bottle to bleed the brakes. I was going to replace the HCU & use the Forscan - OBDII to do an ABS bleed. However, before I got to it I took a little trip to Yosemite. I live in Los Angeles where we have set a new record of 192 consecutive days where Downtown L.A. recorded a high temperature of at least 70 degrees. So it was a bit of a change to get the car below freezing for a few nights. The morning after the first cold night the ABS & traction control warnings didn't come on. I've been back in L.A. for a month and the problem has not come back. If the problem does come back I'm going to get some dry ice and pack the HCU. -mort
  3. Hi DBerry, Is this still a problem? Did you get it fixed? It sounds like this Ford recall 19S54. 2006-2010 Fusion etc. the ABS - HCU unit gets a kind of corrosion. Check out this thread: https://www.fordfusionforum.com/topic/20206-19s54-recall-for-reduced-braking-ability-2006-1010-fusion-milan-zephyr-mkz/ -mort
  4. Again. Listen Free Jan. 30 – Feb. 12 60 channels WITH TraveLink this time. -mort
  5. Again. Nov 14 to 27 60 channels but WITH TraveLink this time. -mort
  6. Hi mczajka, In the hybrid, if you use a 12 volt electrical load, like the ac outlet, headlights or radio, with the key in the run position, then the high voltage battery will keep the 12 volt system at nominal voltage. When the HVB gets down low enough it will automatically start the engine and recharge to 50% soc. So yes it will use gas from time to time. If your whole load is the 150 watts that the outlet can deliver, (and the energy in the HVB between 50% and 10%, where it starts the engine, is about 500 watt-hours) you can use the outlet for a couple hours between engine starts. (you know Plug In Day is for cars that plug in to an electrical outlet, not cars that have an outlet - right?) -mort
  7. Hi MadMerc, No call needed, I think you get the spiel on channels that aren't part of the preview. -mort
  8. Again. May 22 to June 4. 60 channels but no TraveLink this time. -mort
  9. Wow! Can you justify buying a new bicycle, let alone a new car on about 5 miles a day? (if you commute) Do the math! All you need is a pair of shoes. New shoes: about $100 a year. Lease on new car: about $2400 per year. And the shoes save gas too! -mort
  10. Ha ha! The hybrid has no air filter to replace. The air cleaner is self cleaning. One of the advantages of Atkinson cycle. page 300 - 2010 Fusion Hybrid (hfv) Owners Guide, 3rd Printing USA (fus) -mort
  11. You keep sayin' that, but the published numbers I see are still 47/44 for the 2013 hybrid. Now a 7 hwy mpg difference vs 6 for previous years. If you were going to commute like the epa, it's a 21 mpg difference. Also the ecoboost 1.6 will be a premium engine at about $1k over the base 2.5. -mort
  12. This is misleading. All cars nosedive in a hard stop. Really stiff shocks may reduce nosedive, the original equipment shocks won't. Some newer cars have reduced nosedive by applying the rear brakes first. Ford (and others) call it EBD. -mort
  13. Actually, even with the added weight of the battery etc, the Atkinson engine car is more efficient than the non-Atkinson 2.5l. However, a 6 mpg difference makes for a pretty long payback. For gasoline today @ $4.25 in 100,000 miles you'd save about $2300. -mort
  14. I like it. Nice job. I guess you do need to do the trim around the lower grille and the fog lights for consistancy. Your side markers look black. Where did you get them? -mort
  15. I believe the extended warranty is tied to the VIN. That's all any dealer will need. Also some of the extended warranties have 24 hour roadside assistance, meaning Ford will pay for towing. -mort
  16. Hi Lunareclipse, The repair manual says that you get at it from inside the fender. Remove the tire and fender liner. The "fuel filler neck housing" (part number 27936 $62.55) is held to the fender by retainers on the back side. The filler pipe is connected to the housing by a retainer on the out side, I think it is that ring #18 in the fuel tank image. I don't see anything inside that can be repaired. The manual isn't very hepful on how the filler pipe is disconnected from the housing. This is from how to remove the filler pipe, you only need to get to the housing though: And the actual door is a seperate piece, if you need a new one it comes primed. -mort

  18. Hi Paterick, My mirror doesn't shake. Changing your mirror worked for a while? I was going to suggest the glue holding the bracket to the windshield is soft, but that wouldn't get any better with a new mirror. I'm puzzled. -mort
  19. Hi vertmustang98gt, I know, not what you asked. I'm looking at these, at the bottom of the page. -mort
  20. And if you get a flashlight and look, when the key is on you can see a little fan spinning in there. -mort
  21. Hi lolder, NewNole2001, akirby etc. That Prius simulator is nifty. Think about this, set the simulator to 1500 rpm on the engine and 2800 rpm (47 mph) on the traction motor or ring gear. Now what is happening to the generator, it's "backing up" at -1790 rpm. I assume it's acting as a load to force the engine torque out to the wheels. Here, the most common situation, the generator is charging the battery. I have a very steep driveway, steep enough that at 4 mph the car needs more power than going 47 mph on the flat. So the engine can still be assumed to be running at 1700 rpm but the road speed is now 4 mph, the ring gear is running at 240 rpm. The generator is now 4790 rpm, but reversed from before. It can't be loading the engine more so it must be "pushing" on the the engine. Acting as a motor using battery power. And that agrees with the grey vs white gear faces. In any case the part called generator in the simulator is as much a transmission ratio selector as a generator . -mort
  22. Hi Lunareclipse02, Yeah, very expensive. Here is what is popular just now. Plasti Dip sticks to chrome fine and it's supposed to peel off if you want. Not a great choice of colors though. -mort
  23. Again. 60 channels & TraveLink works too -mort
  24. Hi Fusionpursuit, Ford has a kind of squirrely way of numbering parts. The part number is 2 parts, a model-feature identifier and a location identifier. All the same parts across all car lines have the same location number. And the parts site only shows the location number. For instance all grilles are 8200, windshield glass is <03100 (look at a F250 for instance). When you order a part you should include your VIN and then you'll likely get the correct part. -mort
  25. Hi robbo, fusionff is right the European Fusion is a different car than is sold in North American. But lots of the mechanical parts are the same or work the same. The mechanism that opens the boot we call the remote trunk release. It is a solenoid attached to the trunk latch. It makes a clunk noise when it opens the trunk unlike the bzzt of the door locks. Go to Ford Parts and click on the tab that says model, and continue. But you can probably find the UK version of Ford Parts and find actual parts for your car. Good luck -mort
