  1. Hi ChrisL and welcome to the Ford Fusion Forum. The correct oil specification is listed in the Maintenance and Specifications section of the Owners Manual. The Maintenance Schedule is also in the Manual. Essentially, most major name brand Synthetic Blend and/or Full Synthetic automotive grade oils will meet the Ford specifications for our vehicles. However, it never hurts to compare the specs on the bottle to the Ford required specification. I would not advise using a "conventional" oil. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
  2. Hi JohnLongoria and welcome to the Ford Fusion Forum. Sorry to hear about your issues. My first recommendation would be to go to the Firestone shop/shops where you have had the oil changes performed and ask for copies of the past work invoices. They should have it in their database and easily be able to make copies for you. The problem here is the following: While it is true we do not need to have maintenance work performed at Ford Dealerships, we do need to have proof that proper/required maintenance work was performed somewhere. So that means work invoices from an independent shop, or if we do the work ourselves, receipts for oil/filters etc. Unfortunately, as far as automakers are concerned (not only Ford), in the case of a catastrophic failure, not having work invoices or receipts for oil/filters etc. is all the proof of lack of maintenance they legally need. Therefore, I would try to get copies of the work invoices from Firestone. If that is not possible, then contacting Ford Customer Relations or trying another Dealership would be the next step, as WKelley mentioned. However, trying another Dealership may not work, since the first Dealership will have the warranty denial noted in the vehicle history now. Keep in mind I am not stating you didn't perform the maintenance (I believe you did), I am simply providing the warranty requirements/ramifications of not having invoices, receipts etc. Keep us updated and good luck.
  3. Hi Sullyslays and welcome to the Ford Fusion Forum. Sorry to hear about your accident. However, would you please verify what model year Fusion and engine you actually have? The 2017 Fusion Sport had a 2.7L EcoBoost engine, and there was no 3.5L engine available in the 2017 Fusion at all. Good luck.
  4. Hi Fusion_kid. Yes, if your mother has full insurance coverage, having the insurance company take care of it would be the better choice. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
  5. Hi Fusion_kid and welcome to the Ford Fusion Forum. Sorry to hear about your fender bender. Unless you are lucky enough to run across someone with a suitable parts/donor car, the least expensive parts will usually be found at your local Salvage Yards. Find where they are located, stop by and give them your list of parts. Next choice may be Carparts.com. Keep in mind it is unlikely you will find used body parts in the same color as your mom's car. Therefore, you will likely need to have exterior body parts painted, which will run some money. I am sure others will jump in with more help and recommendations. Let us know how you make out and good luck.

  7. Hi Lmrs27 and welcome to the Ford Fusion Forum. Here is one opinion: If the Dealer you purchased your used vehicle from "...definitely advertised it as being fordpass connected..." and you have evidence of that, then I would contact the Dealership representatives you worked with, in person, to pursue having them replace the modem and enable FordPass. You will have far better luck with that, than joining a class action lawsuit that has little chance of success at all, and even less so in your case. This is because...Since you purchased a used vehicle from a Dealership, it is the Dealership that promised you something, not Ford. Dealerships are independent franchises, and legally, Ford promised you nothing. Out of curiosity, is your 2020 Fusion still within the 3 year/36,000 mile New Vehicle Warranty? I am not trying to persuade you not to join any class action lawsuits, only letting you know that you will have a better chance of success by pursuing the Dealership and what they advertised for your used car. Let us know how you make out, and good luck with whatever you decide to
  8. Hi jasonp. In addition to the good information from andyross...When did you purchase your 2009 Fusion, and where from? Do the taillights also come on when you turn on the ignition? If they do not, it is possible that the DRL's are enabled on your vehicle. If you purchased used and it was a Canadian vehicle, the DRL's would be enabled from the factory. It is also possible the owner of a US vehicle enabled the DRL's. If it is not the DRL's, then you have a glitch somewhere in the lighting/electrical system that will need troubleshooting. Is there anything covering the ambient light sensor on the dashboard? Keep us updated and good luck.
  9. Hi Larry. Make an appointment to have it checked by another Ford or Lincoln Dealership. Follow the instructions in the letter to mention the letter, recall number etc. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
  10. Hi LW. The fuel filter in your 2018 Fusion SE with a 2.5L engine is located in the fuel tank. It is part of the fuel pump and is listed as a "lifetime"/non-serviceable component. You would need to remove the fuel pump to replace it. To verify this information...If you look in the Index of your Owners Manual under "Fuel filter", then go to the listed page, you will find the following: "FUEL FILTER Your vehicle is equipped with a lifetime fuel filter that is integrated with the fuel tank. Regular maintenance or replacement is not needed." If you do not have your hard copy, you can download the PDF version here: https://www.fleet.ford.com/parts-service/resources/owner-manuals/ Let us know how you make out and good luck.
  11. Hi richys2020 and welcome to the Ford Fusion Forum. You do not need to re-calibrate the speedometer and odometer. For every inch you go up in wheel diameter, you do down one sidewall ratio size in order to keep the same overall diameter (assuming you are keeping the same tread width). Use this tire size calculator to determine the wheel/tire combination you need to keep the correct overall diameter. It is easy to use. Plug in your current tire/wheel size, and then your new tire/wheel size to figure out the correct tire size to use in order to have the correct overall diameter: https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc It will also show the speedometer difference etc. All you need to do is get the closest to stock overall wheel/tire diameter in order to keep the speedometer and odometer readings accurate. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
  12. Hi Roxas. "...fairly easy to add them back..." is a relative term, so here is my opinion: It is not a "fairly easy" project, since you would either need to purchase the parts new or source them used, then have the system programmed properly. Nor would it be inexpensive if you need to purchase new parts and pay for the programming. And in reality, it is not worth the trouble, because once the novelty wears off, very few drivers even use them. Perhaps other members will jump in with more advice. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
  13. Hi Kibirs. Please do not double post questions. It is much easier for others to help when all questions and information are located in one place. This thread will be locked, and your other one left open for others to assist. Good luck.

  15. Hi rage-bull and welcome to the Ford Fusion Forum. You don't mention trying to jump start the vehicle or having the battery tested/replaced. Among many possibilities, it sounds like a possible dead battery. And it does not matter how old the battery is. Did you attempt to jump start the vehicle? If it jump starts, you have found the problem. Replace the battery. Also check/clean/tighten the battery cables while you are at it. If it something deeper than that, a dependable shop and/or tech will probably be needed to track it down. Or hopefully one of our tech members will jump in with more assistance Let us know how you make out and good luck.
  16. Hi Roxas. WiFi updates are problematic (at best) for SYNC 3. It is far better to use the Ford SYNC 3 update website for updates, and then use the USB update method if any are available. It is also possible (maybe even probable in this case) that your previous update has not yet registered on the Ford SYNC 3 update website. Especially if you did not go back to the site and upload the "XML" file to the Ford SYNC 3 update website, after you performed the update. Give it a little more time to update and let us know how you make out. Goodl uck.
  17. Hi Mbrining and welcome to the Ford Fusion Forum. You are not going to get any sort of quality body kit for less than that. At least not anything worth putting on your Fusion. Yes, those shipping charges are ridiculous, but we have vehicles which are no gin production, so the pickings are slim at best. Concerning installing a body kit from another vehicle? It would be a bad idea. Short story is it won't fit properly, since a body kit form another vehicle was not designed, engineered and sized for a Fusion. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
  18. Hi Roxas. Hopefully you kept a log of your changes? Use FORScan to change everything back to stock, and see if it solves the issue. Also have your battery tested, in case it is a cosmic coincidence and your battery happens to be failing. Post back with your results and good luck.

Hi MISHA and welcome to the Ford Fusion Forum. If you are asking about the "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" message, there is no way to diagnose that over the Internet. You will need to bring your vehicle to a Ford Dealer or independent shop you trust to have it properly diagnosed. You can also stop by your local automotive big box store (AutoZone etc.) where they scan your vehicle for DTC codes for free, then post back with any codes they may find. If you are asking about something else, you will need to provide more information and/or be more specific. Good luck.
  20. Hi Dwbk. You can find information on the causes and possible fixes of a P0461 DTC here: https://www.obd-codes.com/p0461 Since that DTC indicates a "Fuel Level Sensor Circuit Range/Performance" issue, it does not seem to be anything pointing towards transmission trouble. What makes you think the vehicle is having transmission trouble? Black soot and smoke (black) can point towards a tuning issue (not transmission trouble). When was the last time the spark plugs were changed and a general tune-up performed (air filter etc.)? Take a look at the link provided for information and troubleshooting tips, let us know how you make out, and good luck.
  21. Hi gorilla. It does sound like torque steer, as you and Waldo surmised. Especially since it seems as though perhaps your previous vehicles were RWD or AWD? Unless there is a problem in your vehicle, Lane Keep Assist should not be active from a stop. Keep us updated and good luck.
  22. Hi Bop. The water is leaking in at the headlight housing seam. You can either try to seal the seam with some clear silicone sealant, or replace the headlight. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
  23. Hi Bctoasters. It is an under-body shield/under-body splash shield of some name/type or another. There are several underneath our vehicles. However, I am not sure of the exact part description for that particular one. If no one else jumps in to help, simply stop by the Parts Department of your local Ford Dealer and ask them. Just have your VIN handy, and they will be able to pull it up in a few minutes. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
  24. Hi Bctoasters. Is it easy to replace? Yes, if you have access to a lift. Otherwise it could be cumbersome crawling around under the vehicle, even on jack-stands. Not really difficult, but more so than on a lift. Cost is something you can get an idea of by stopping by the Parts Department at your local Ford Dealers and asking for the prices and part numbers of the pieces you need. Keep in mind you may need to also replace the fasteners. Keep in mind that most Dealerships ask MSRP/list price, but prices are negotiable. So once you have their pricing, you can negotiate prices with them, and/or take the part numbers and do some online shopping at the many online Ford Parts sellers. Also remember to Factor in shipping costs, since large pieces like that may be expensive to ship. Or alternately, call online Ford Parts sellers, tell them what you need and ask them for pricing. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
  25. Hi Amosovmaxim. With all of these possibilities... Malfunctioning cylinder head temperature sensor Defective wiring to cylinder head temperature sensor Low coolant levels/leak Failed thermostat Failed coolant temperature sensor Failed water pump Clogged radiator ...sometimes it is better to enlist the help of a good shop or tech that you trust. I am sure one of our tech members will jump in if they feel they can assist you. Keep us updated and good luck.
