So sad, but true. In fact we only get 20 mpg from a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder Zetec in a 2000 Ford Focus station wagon in our all-city driving.

I like the idea that my 2007 Fusion will still look "new" since the 2009s will not be changed dramatically in appearance. However, with the 2010s debuting so early in 2009 my '07 becomes three years old when it's really only two years old, if you get my drift. My original plans were to keep the 2007 for a very long time but the horrific in-city mileage factor has me thinking that a 4-cylinder 2010 might be a good investment. I can't imagine that Ford will sell all that many 2009s with the 2010s waiting in the wings to debut.

Wow. That almost seems like a schedule for the 2009 rather than the 2010. Are the 2009 even out yet? I'm seriously behind the times here. Where can I get more information about the '09s and '10s?

Our 2007 3.0-liter V6 AWD SEL Fusion with the 6-speed automatic transmission is still getting 14.8 mpg (constant average) in all-city driving and only 24 mpg on the highway for trips. That's after 9 months and 4,400 miles. The revised EPA estimate for this power train is 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. I believe the AWD option is the mileage culprit. In all fairness to the Fusion, even our 2.0 Zetec 4-cyclinder 2000 Ford Focus station wagon only gets 18-20 mpg over the same course. In retrospect, I am sorry that we bought the V6 with AWD. A 4-cylinder would have been just fine. Boz

Our 2007 AWD SEL acts normally, but the air is not as cold as it is in our 1997 Thunderbird and our 2000 Focus station wagon.

Sounds like something that the dealer should fix.

Mike, I'm with you, the dark skin is the pits. But if you click on the dark skin option the light (white) option will appear and let you choose it. Try it again. It works. Boz

Tom, Is it an I4 or a V6? Must be a Job #1 2007, built before Sept. 6, 2006, because it doesn't seem to have a radio mast near the back glass. I prefer the "no antenna" look myself. Your antenna is built into the rear glass. You probably don't have an iPod connection in the bottom of the center console either. Ours has it but we never use it. I would rather have the audiophile radio that you have.

I agree, Allen. It's not smart business to commercially advertise something that is not available yet. There is plenty of time, probably about six months, to begin promoting this feature. As I stated earlier, it's not something that would interest me but I can see where it has value to a certain segment of the population who might be in the market for a new car and the latest in communications technology.

To be sure you are joking, right? LOL.

$35 sounds like the price for the whole antenna unit, not the price for just the wire (mast) part.

Congratulations on your new Fusion, Tom, and welcome to the forum. Very nice ride. Was the pinstripe standard or did you have it done? Looks nice. Is that an SEL? Tell us more about your new car.

I must still be living in the dark ages because I just don't get excited about Sync. It seems like a gimmick to me, one that doesn't interest me in the least bit. I guess it is cool for those into being constantly "wired" for communications and such but just having a cell phone handy is fine for me and my wife. Heck, we don't even own an iPod or MP3 player and don't have Sirius radio either. Guess we're just old fuddy duddies.

Congratulations on the new Fusion and welcome to the forum. Judging by your exceptional mileage I would guess that you have an I4. About the only break-in advice in the owner's manual is to avoid constant speeds for long periods of time during the first 1,000 miles or so. According to various sources, the engine and transmission may not be fully broken in until 5,000 miles or more. We purchased our 2007 SEL AWD Fusion on Dec. 4, 2006, and only have 3,200 miles on it. Our in-city gas mileage (14.8 mpg) is the pits but we get 24 mpg during highway driving. I am still hoping that this will improve with age but am pessimistic that that will be the case. The mileage culprit is the AWD. I now wish we had ordered an I4 SEL. Hindsight is always 20-20. We don't "need" either the V6 or the AWD.

I've always seen the six to eight weeks quoted as the time from ordering to delivery with eight weeks usually being the norm. Other than being a "silver SEL," what did you order on it? V6 or I4? Etc.

Wouldn't a car with that name be a headache?
