  1. The MKZ has a lock out for the overdrive? Really? On the shift lever? A darn handy feature. I thought all of the Fusion, Milan and MKZ transmissions and shift levers were the same. Not so?
  2. Yeah, Allen, but for model year 2008 the Focus will only be available as a two- or four-door sedan, no more sporty three- and five-door hatchbacks. So there goes that potential market, too. Same with the Focus station wagon. Ford is dropping it. A pity.
  3. $15,000 for an '07 SE sounds like a great deal. Keep us posted.
  4. Salisbury, MD, a city of about 30,000 people, has had a Ford, Lincoln Mercury dealer for about 50 years.
  5. Amazing, in a shocking way, that they aren't on top of this issue like white on rice.
  6. Reason number three makes the most sense, for FoMoCo.
  7. Welcome to the forum CGNY, enjoy your stay. FYI, BassNutz replaced his totaled Fusion with another black one. Sorry to hear about your Mazda. I would highly recommend that you check out the Fusions. There is a wide range of prices, starting at $18.995, and models. Our 2007 V6 SEL AWD with moon roof, ABS, and heated leather seats had a MSRP of $27,105. We like most everything about the car EXCEPT its poor, 14.8, in-city gas mileage but even that is beginning to improve a little now that the car has 2,500 miles on it. We purchased it Dec. 4, 2006.
  8. That's a very positive report, Phynigan. Welcome to the forum. Enjoy your stay and tell us more about your Fusion. We have an '07 SEL AWD Fusion ourselves but did not have much of an opportunity to test it out this winter. It rarely snows in Salisbury, MD, hub city of the Delmarva Peninsula (state of Delaware, Eastern Shore of Maryland, Eastern Shore of Virginia). One thing we have noticed is that the gasoline mileage is pretty bad, 14.8 mpg in all city driving, but it recently improved to 16.1 on the last tank full. What kind of mileage are you getting?
  9. Elite130, welcome to the forum. Enjoy your stay. What Fusion do you have?
  10. Interesting tidbit. Doesn't the 3.0-liter V6 now in the Fusions and Milans also feature variable valve timing?
  11. Sharp machine Scotty. How long have you had it? Miles? Mileage?
  12. A very humorous report, Meelaan. The photo was a big hit, too. First time I've seen such a comparison. Well done. What I wanted when we were shopping was a Mercury tail end on the Fusion body. We finally decided on the Fusion because of its "bold" front end. Our 2007 SEL AWD Fusion had a MSRP of $27,105, which is definitely Camry and Accord territory. We considered both to be bland compared to the Fusion. I just hope we don't regret our decision down the road (in the years to come).
  13. Chris, Congratulations on the Fusion. Here's hoping you have many, many more enjoyable miles with it.
  14. I don't quite understand your post. What are the origins of the 3.5-liter engine that you are talking about? FoMoCo certainly has invested millions of dollars into the production of it. What do you know that the rest of us don't know?
  15. Bob, you are speaking of yourself, right? :happy feet:
  16. Your last three fill-ups certainly indicate a positive trend. That is very good news. I wish we could report the same results but that is not the case yet.
  17. I find it hard to believe that the Job #2 (built after Sept. 6, 2006) Milans and Fusions still have an antenna incorporated into the rear glass plus an antenna on the roof. It is my understanding that the mast antenna replaced the one in the rear windshield. We don't have Sirius radio, just AM/FM. Does anyone know if the MKZ shark fin antenna could be used to replace the stock antenna mast on a Fusion?
  18. Those are some really decent gas mileage numbers, even for an I4.
  19. It doesn't. That question was asked and answered somewhere on the Internet. I don't recall exactly where, but I read it.
  20. This forum, and several others devoted to the Fusion on the Internet, should be mandatory reading for several people at FoMoCo. It is an excellent way to gain free information from Ford product owners.
  21. Actually, you have described how my wife and I both drive. Unfortunately her commute to work is only a few miles and is stop-and-go driving, but not bumper-to-bumper. The mileage "improved" to 14.8 for in-city driving on the last tank fill up, but I seriously doubt if it will ever reach the EPA estimate of 19 mpg, which was recently revised downward to 17 mpg for this power train. In retrospect, the decision to go with V6 AWD automatic was a very bad one. An I4 manual or automatic would have been just fine for the type of driving we do, 95 percent in-city. Thanks for your suggestions. Any more ideas? Boz
  22. Well stated. Camry/Accord are not invincible but the media have elevated them to that status over the years. Sure, they are good, but I believe an SEL AWD Fusion is better.
  23. Keep us posted on your progress. This sounds like an interesting development. It also sounds as if the engine is not hitting (firing) on all four cylinders at first.
