  1. T "Three months and some"! In previous posts, I said that I've ordered twice from the factory, however I did order one additional time when I was attached to the American Embassy on the Third Largest Island in the Mediterranean. (I'll let you figure out what island that is). Ordered a British car while I was there. Ordered it in February and took delivery in May. That was three months. Dealer allowed me to go to the port with them to pick it up, and I drove it from the port back to the dealers showroom in the city where I lived. Dealer showed me how to put the top down, and the top never went back up until November. That was one car I never had problems with after ordering. New subject. Your ordered cars may now be arriving, however here in Central Florida, the dealers are still getting "squat". I keep telling dealers that "you can't sell them if you ain't got them". I've looked as some other brands and models, but still like the Fusion Titanium best. I'm in no hurry, but my wife hates the SHO because it rides like a brick. Matter of fact, we are taking a short trip to Columbia SC tomorrow, and we will be taking her MKZ as she like the ride better. I've been taking the SHO when I travel alone, and the MKZ when we travel together.
  2. Hydraulic Engine Cooling Fan. I had a 1992 Toyota Camry V6 SE with Manual Transmission, with the Hydraulic Engine Cooling Fan. I don't agree with you, as I thought that was the greatest thing since sliced bread. It ran off the Power Steering pump and fluid. You could watch it speed up and slow down. Don't know if the system on the Lincoln LS operated the same, but this one on the Toyota operated great. (and here I thought that Toyota was the only one to ever have this system).
  3. I'm not going to order a Fusion, but I will buy one once they become more available. Right now, dealers have very few in stock. (I'm sure dealers are crying for more). Once they start to come in again, and once I find one that I want to buy, I'm going to check the "Build Date" to make sure it is one built in November or later. No sense in asking for trouble. Also, once there are more available, and dealers have more in stock, they will be more willing to deal.
  4. If "giving " you the maintenace agreement means FREE, and if you still want the car, you may as well take the offer. Nine oil changes in 45,000 miles is an oil change every 5 thousand miles. (I guess your dealer does not want to give you your deposit money back).
  5. What do you get with the 3 yr 45K maintenance agreement? The car is already covered by a 3 year 36k bumper to bumper warranty, so I assume that by maintenance agreement, they change your oil and filter "free", plus an air filter once in a while. Don't know what they are charging, but as for oil changes, and oil filters, I just go to my local Lincoln dealer and pay $21.00 every 7500 miles. Local Ford dealer does the same. As for other things, like air filters, cabin filters, I do that myslef. Easy and cheap. BTW, I always change oil at my Lincoln or Ford dealer. NEVER at a quickie oil change place. Yes, Lincoln or Ford may try to sell me other things, but after checking the owners manual, I only have things done that are mandated in the manual, not by what the dealer service department tries to sell me. Maintance on both my cars is cheap. This is one of the reasons I drive a Ford product and not a German product. One day, I was checking out a car at one of the Mercedes dealers. Checked in their service department and saw that their 7500 mile service cost $285 at that time. their 15000 service cost over $800 at that time. WTF? Are they crazy. Then one day, I was talking with a woman who owns a C class Mercedes with the 4 cylinder "kompressor" engine. I asked her how much it costs her for an oil change. She said "I've never gotten out of there for less then $300". Don't matter what German car you have. VW, Mercedes, Audi, BMW, --- you may be able to afford to buy it, but you can't afford to maintain it. At least I can't.
  6. They are close enough that I read on the Jag forums some owners buy their parts, from Ford Dealers, as many parts are the same, but much cheaper at Ford than at Jag. The one part that I remember best is the Cam Chain Followers, which wear out fast, and is the same be it Jag or Ford T-Bird or Lincoln LS. If memory serves me correct, there were also many other parts of the engines that are the same.
  7. The Rating indicators have changed since I retired so I don't remember or know what the "FC" (in FCC) is. As you probably know, as a "CT", I was a Navy "Spook" and loved every minute. Retired before you were born. Enlisted in 1956. retired in 1977. Yes, I'm old. <Grin> Sorry for the off topic stuff, but you get a couple of Chiefs together, and we tell "Sea Stories".
  8. Surprised at how little used Taurus' are worth. Saw a dealer ad today for a used 2011 Taurus Limited. Dealer was asking $22.900. My SHO is a 2010, so I guess it is not worth nearly as much as I thought on trade-in. Mute matter for now as dealers are not getting Fusion (Titaniums). The few dealers had, are drying up. Once Ford releases them from Mexico, dealers may decide to deal. Once they become more available, I may or may not trade. My SHO is perfectly good, but my wife hates the hard brick like ride.
  9. You are right. Mia culpa. I was wrong. I forgot that it was a five speed, although ZF also made five speed transmissions. I was thinking of the Jags with the same 3.9, 4.0 and 4.2 engines that used the ZF six speed transmissions.
  10. Like I said, although I now always use all weather tires, I don't use winter (snow) tires, when I'm up in snow country of Western New York. I think we get even more snow than you get in Montreal as we get the dredded "Lake Effect". The last time I purchased snow tires was when I live in the "Down East Coast of Maine". Had a RWD Buick and never had problems with the "Summer" tires I had. Well one winter, I broke down. Said if I had no problems with summer tires (this was before the days of All Weather Tires" and before Radial tires) I will never have problems with snow tires. WRONG. I must have forgotten all that my father taught me, because I did end up in a ditch. Lucky for me, the people of Maine are the friendlest in the world, and they all carry a tow rope or chain. Guy stopped, and helped pull me out. I've been careful ever since. Yes, I do live in Florida "most of the time" but I do go to "snow country" in the winter when I have to for family business, plus I go out to SE New Mexico and West Texas in January also. (COLD but my car has a good heater and NM gets more snow than one might think).
  11. I'm "old"... My father taught me to drive in February, in Rochester NY, which is known for a lot of SNOW. Back in those days, all cars were RWD. I used to drive long distances, in the snow, with my RWD without winter tires, and never had problems. There was no such thing as All Weather Tires back then. As time went by, cars started to have FWD, which I then purchased. Never had problems going through the snow and ice with FWD. This was the days before Positraction and then Electronic Traction Control. I did purchase a 2007 MKZ AWD, and sure, I had no problems with it, but the only snow I drove through was a huge storm between Jackson MS and Hattiesburg MS. Just took my time and did everything my father taught me those many years ago. (Do not do anything fast. Don't hit the gas fast, don't hit the brakes fast and don't turn the steering wheel fast, and drive according to conditions). Yes, my SHO has AWD, but it is standard on the SHO. I also now only buy All Weather Tires. Summer tires don't do it for me. Even though I sometimes drive in Roswell NM in the winter, (yes Roswell gets snow and cold) and even though I sometimes get called to Penfield (Rochester) NY in the winter, I don't need AWD. (BTW, my FWD 2002 Continental did just fine when I was in Rochester for a family emergency in November a few years back, with a snowstorm and ice on the road). Don't drive crazy, and you won't have problem with FWD.
  12. All the dealers I talk with try to get me to special order a car through them. Great, except the dealer has your deposit, and the car never arrives. I've ordered twice in the past, and I got burned both times. Once, when the car arrived without one of the standard features that oll the manufactures said would come standard on the car. The manufacturer had an out because if you read the fine print in their brocures, you will see where it says that the manufacturer can change spec's at any time. Dealer had my deposit. What could I do. I had to take the car. Second time, the car came with "imperfections" (defects) and I believed the dealer when they said, "or our service department can fix that". Well, they were never able to fix the imperfections. Again, Delaer had my deposit. What could I do. I had to take the car. NEVER AGAIN WILL I SPECIAL ORDER A CAR. I also will not go for a Dealer Trade. I want to drive and inspect the exact car I will be buying.
  13. The Window Stickers on all the 2013 Fusions I've seen so far, all say Hermosillo. 2.0 Ecoboost Engine made in Spain. Can't remember where the Transmission that goes with the 2.0 Ecoboost is made.
  14. OK. 6F35. It may have been used in the 2.5 Four, but I don't think the Fusion had a 3.0 (six) since the 2006 model year. My 2007 MKZ had the 3.5 six. I could be wrong on what the Fusion had back then. Speaking of the Lincoln LS, don't know about those with the V6, but the V8 used the German made ZF Transmission, just like the Jaguar's that the V8 engines came from.
  15. I've been shopping around for a 2013 Fusion Titanium. Must have "Driver Assist Pkg", plus the Package that includes the "BLIS" plus the package that includes the Moonroof, (only because to get the garage door openers, you must opt for the moonroof). (Other options, including wheels, color, adaptive cruise, etc, I don't want or need, although I would consider if the deal was right). Noticed that the Titanium 2.0 Ecoboost (all Titaniums are 2.0 Ecoboost) have a transmission that has no dipstick, and must be serviced and checked from under the car. The door sticker, on the door post, says the transmission Ford Transmission Code is "W". Other than being a 6-Speed, does anyone know anything about it? I forgot where the Window Sticker says the transmission is made, but the engine is made in Spain. Example of the Ford Transmission Codes. Code "B" is the AWF-21 Transmission found in the previous V6 Fusions and MKZ's, including mine. Code "C" is the 6F55 (or 6F50) found in V6 SHO's (or V6 Taurus') What is the Code "W" Transmission?
  16. Learned something new. Don't know where the 1.6 Ecoboost or the 2.5 engines are made, however the 2.0 Ecoboost in the Titanium is made is Spain. SPAIN. Forgot where the transmission (with no dipstick) is made.
  17. Bet I know what one of the problems is. Bet it has something to do with the MyFordTouch. Example; I found a 2013 Fusion Titanium with MFT. Went to look at it yesterday (Sunday) and found that the car was in the Service Department, as it needed the MFT worked on. Well, me thinking that it was a simple update, and that what was already loaded in there would work, I tried it. Would not operate correctly. When I tried to shut off the passenger side a/c, I would get the message to "pair my phone". When my butt started to cook because the driver seat heater was on, could not shut it off. As it was, this MFT was a POS. Although I liked the car otherwise, I did not make an offer. Salesperson said that they were instructed to to the update before the car was sold. Got three calls today. First was to say the update was done. Second was that no, the update was not done, as the technician who does these updates took the day off. Third was that they now got the update done, and that it is operating as designed. I will be going down there (100 miles away) and after testing the MFT and the GPS Navi, if all works correctly, I will buy, assuming I get a fair price for my trade. Well anyway, like I said, I bet the delay has something to do with the MFT.
  18. If the dealer I've been working with decides to give me a good trade in price, I will buy a Titanium tomorrow. Car has; Driver Assist option; GPS Navigation; Moonroof: Would have bought it yesterday, but the MFT was not operating correctly. They said it has not been fixed. (Upgrade or TSB?) Returning tomorrow, and if the MFT is operating correctly (very complicated) and if they give me KBB trade in price, I'll buy it.
  19. I have the Sync with voice Activated Navigation (8" Screen) in both my cars. No wind noise when windows are up. Yes, I have wind noise when windows (or one window) is down. Needless to say, I keep the windows up. When I am driving with a window down, and I get an incoming call, I shut the window and moonroof, before I answer the phone. FYI, when window is down, and I try to make a voice activated call, Sync does not understand me because of the background noise from wind. Close windows, and voice activated calls work perfect. Easy as that.
  20. Don't know about the 6F35 transmission you are talking about, but with the Taurus 6F50 and the SHO 6F55 transmissions, there is a TSB for just that problem. Keep after your dealer and he may find some kind of fix. I'm glad I read this thread, as my Continental A/C gave out on me and tomorrow morning, I'm going to my dealer to get it fixed. If it is going to cost me a ton of money, I may just trade it for a used MKS (with the 6F50) or I also have my eye on a new MKZ, both loaded with Navi, etc. Was not sure if the MKZ used the 6Fxx transmission, or the AWF21 transmission that was formally used in the MKZ. Now I know. (Hated the AWF21).
  21. Yes, I'm old enough (darn) to have driven the Dynaflow Buicks from the late 40's and early 50's, plus I also had a 2005 Ford Freestyle AWD which had the German Made CVT Transmission. The sensation was the same. The engine revs, and the car catches up. (Note that only the AWD 2005 Freestyle had the CVT while the FWD 2005 Freestyle had the Aisin 6 Speed Transmission).
  22. Just purchased a used 2010 Taurus SHO and while at the dealership, I saw they have a BEAUTIFUL Pearl White 2010 Mercury Milan Hybrid. Don't know what equipment it has, but I am sure they would let it go for a very reasonable price if anyone here is interested. Dealership experience was great. No high pressure. No back and forth. I told them what I'd pay, and they agreed. They are in the small South Florida Town of Arcadia, and the name of the dealership is DeSoto Auto Mall. Ford/Lincoln-Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep. Sales people treated me great. If anyone is interested, Google them and give them a call. I drove 140 miles to get my car, and well worth it. I was impressed. Great people.
  23. "Returning to Ford". I guess I can post in the Fusion Forum as I still have the MKZ Yep, I just traded my former 2009 car for a used 2010 Ford Taurus SHO. Could not pass up the deal. Purchased it at a Ford/Lincoln-Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealer, in the small town of Arcadia Florida. Main reason for this post is that the buying experience at DeSoto AutoMall in Arcadia was the best I've ever hade. No high pressure. No going back and forth from salesperson and salesmanager. Just a pleasure dealing with them. I went out of my way a bit, 140 miles from my home, but well worth it. They still have two new 2010 SHO's, and one BEAUTIFUL Pearl White 2010 Mercury Milan Hybrid. I'm sure they would make a good deal on them, especially the Milan, as they don't make the Mercury brand anymore. (I'll post about the Hybrid in the Fusion Hybrid section).
  24. I KNOW,,,, there is no such thing as a Fusion SHO, however the Fusion does have the same Sync system as the Taurus, so I figure some tech types in the Fusion Forum, who has a Fusion with Sync, would know about the system.
