  1. Welcome! I've had my 2011 Ford Fusion almost 3 months! It's an SEL with AWD and it's been great so far! Tuxedo Black with charcoal black leather interior!

Welcome, Steve! I try to view posts, make posts, and comment from time to time. I work in the world of politics/government and this year is a busy year in my area for coming elections. I'm a proud and recent owner of a 2011 Ford Fusion SEL w/AWD. A life-long Ford owner. My last car was a 2008 Ford Focus 2dr Coupe. Hated that car, so can't believe there's a Focus Fanatics forum. That car was lousy in bad weather and too small. Miss the Escort when it comes to small cars. Welcome and enjoy your Fusion!
  3. Welcome! You're going to love your Fusion! I know I love mine. I have a 2011 Ford Fusion SEL AWD that I've had since January 20, 2011.
  4. Congrats! I also have a 2011 Fusion. It's an SEL trim with AWD. Got it January 20th. One thing about having a new car and living in an apartment complex, you risk finding your car keyed. Which, I discovered last weekend! Had it buffed and touched up for now, and will have the three panels (left driver door, passenger door, and side fender rear) repainted etc properly in October. If I had known this was going to happen, wouldn't have agreed to a two week vacation that I'm paying a lot for, and a wedding I'm in the bridal party of and traveling west for! LOL
  5. Welcome! I'm new to Fusions as well! Though, not to Ford. I love Ford! Toyota, Honda, Chevy, Kia, Hyundai, Subaru can all scratch! Even Chrysler, Dodge, Cadillac, Porche, Saab, Audi, Volvo stink! LOL
  6. Thanks all! I was just wondering. What made me wonder if that yesterday my sister had to replace two oxygen sensors and the catalytic converter on her 2003 Chevy Venture. Not that this is the same situation, because the mechanic told her that using cheap gas over time does some damage. Even though lower priced/non-brand named gas stations get gas from companies such as Mobil/Exxon, Sunoco, Hess, they get the last batch in the tankers, so quality is less. So, that just got me thinking in general. In all my past Ford vehicles, and I've had many. I've used 87 and maybe once a month use 93/94 grade to just add something fancier. And, never had problems. So this new E85 thing I had never heard of. Like I've seen some use the 91 grade in some states.
  7. I have had my 2011 Ford Fusion V6 SEL w/AWD since January 20th. Noticed when I open the gas access door that E85 is typed on the yellow ring around the opening. Do I need to only use E85 gasoline? Can I also use 87? would gas mileage be better if I use E85 and is it the same price as regular gas?
  8. Don't worry, it will all work out. I didn't get a hybrid 2001 Fusion. I'm waiting at least another 10 years for that technology to be perfected and for repair costs, etc to not be astronomical. I have a 2011 Ford Fusion SEL with AWD. It had to be brought to my dealership in NY from one in Massachussetts. It's always nerve racking to wait.
  9. Iforgot, trust me when I say, being someone who lives in NY, 35 miles north of NYC, where we've had a bad winter like PA, etc. I got the 2011 Ford Fusion SEL with AWD, and glad I did! Previously, I had a 2008 Ford Focus 2dr, which had "traction control". That was awful! The AWD Fusion has been great in slush, some sleet and definitely i snow! I've had in the past a Trailblazer, a Toyota Highlander and an 06 Explorer. This sedan I'd find comparable to the Highlander and the Explorer which were more all wheel. I know someone who has an 08 Fusion and that has just front wheel and she says it's great in snow. See if the dealership will give you a good deal and work with you with AWD. Mine did and I'm very glad I went for that and made a way to find it's place in my budget. It's all in how you handle the deal. You can always try another dealership. Remember they need you, not the other way round.
  10. I live in NY, 35 miles north of Manhattan, and this winter we've had 6+ inches of snow each snow storm. On January 20th of this year, I purchased a 2011 Ford Fusion SEL AWD. It's been perfect in snow. A co-worker of mine has a 2008 Ford Fusion without AWD and she says it's been great in snow. I had an 08 Focus that tanked in snow. I was told I should turn off the traction control when I drove the Focus in snow, but to me, that defeats the purpose of having it.
  11. Congratulations, and welcome! I'm also a long-time Ford vehicle owner, and recent Fusion owner. One month ago, I leased (and will purchase when lease ends) a 2011 Ford Fusion SEL AWD. Tuxedo Black exterior, Charcoal black interior. Came with really nice options, etc. Depending on the laws in the State you live in, I wouldn't get crazy on tinting windows, and upgrading a sound system. As someone who works in Government, some upgrades and modifications men like to make to their cars can be illegal. I truly don't understand male need to modify a perfectly good and brand new car. Baffling. Men are rarely satisfied LOL
  12. Well, since the original post, I've gotten to experience how the AWD handles on 2-3" of snow/slush on roads. As good as the 06 Explorer and the "04 Highlander I had. I think that if Ford was going to make the AWD shut off on highways, then it should've been set to shut off when road conditions are dry. I see that the new Explorer has a dial to set the FWD to all wheel depending on roads being wet, snow covered, etc. The only SUV that I had owned that allowed for taking the transmission from 2WD to 4WD and 4WD Hi or Lo was the Chevy Trailblazer. Now THAT was the best I experienced. Picked that up brand new on Dec. 31, 2002, and that winter and the winter of 2003 was the worst! That ATE the snow. And, ate gas too! LOL Subarus are just ugly.
  13. Well, as someone who had gone into a 2011 Fusion SEL AWD 3 weeks ago, I can definitely say it's worth it! Mazda, Shmazda! Go with the 2011 Fusion with Sync! Makes making calls with your cell easier, answering any, plus working the MP3 player, and getting directions a snap! I love mine, and I've had many Fords, and two non-Ford vehicles, and this one I hope to have for more than 10 years!
  14. I know how you feel. I wanted AWD, and the dealer I've used for 18 years didn't have any one the lot. So, after them searching for the things I wanted in it, which weren't much, they found a Fusion with AWD. Had more features than I expected and got a great deal. Made the deal on 1/14, they couldn't get the car due to weather for a couple of days. They had to go 200 miles to Westborough, MA to get it. I got the car on January 20th. Longest wait in my life! Most of the cars I've gotten were on the lot, my first time waiting and it felt like torture. LOL Felt lik my 2008 Ford Focus 2dr Coupe had a bullseye on it that last week! LOL
  15. Well, I went down the windy road and had it in 2, on the M. Then, once I got to the last turn, slowed to almost complete stop (had cars behind me) and went back to drive. I like to change my route to work so that I save on brakes, and needing low gear
