Here is a follow-up to my append on 20 Februrary 2011: I'm happy to report that TSB 11-3-19 [blind Spot Information System (BLIS) and Cross Traffic Alert (CTA) - False Blockage and/or Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) - U3000] dated March 14, 2011 has fixed my issue!!! The dealer did this procedure on April 29, 2011. My Fusion continued to fail regularly for the first few days after the TSB was applied, then it stopped. It has been good for more than a week.

I've been living with this issue since I purchased my Ford Fusion about 10 months ago. It started happening at a particular spot on my way to work about 75% of the time. I waited until my first oil change before taking it to the dealer. They said they found TSB 10-15-4, which told them to start by replacing the right side mirror. They did, but there was no change. When I went back in again, they replaced the left side mirror. This made matters worse. Now it happens DAILY at various places on my way to work!! My route to work is along a four-lane highway dotted with traffic lights. Almost always, I get the warning when I'm driving in the left lane and the curbing of the median branches to the left for a left-hand turn lane. When I went back to the dealer, they said they were out of "tricks", but that Ford engineering was working on a solution. They needed a month or so. I waited four months before going back. When I did, they wanted to check some module to see if it was the latest version. It was. With no fix in sight, it seems this feature wasn't ready for "prime time".
