  1. In January I posted this... " I have a 2011 FFH with a little over 55,000 miles on it. I started to get the "Check Brake System" warning a couple of months ago and had it checked. One of the codes said there was a leak in the vacuum system. It said to replace the vacuum hose which I did. Now the code says to check the vacuum pump. So far I have about $450 invested in having the hose replaced and I still get the warning light. The estimate to replace the vacuum pump is another $850. The car runs fine and the brakes work fine. The only problem I see is that the electric motor does not come on at times. I don't know if that is related to the warning. My mileage has dropped off from around 38 mpg to around 33 mpg. What do you think will happen if I decide not to replace the pump? I'm 80 years old and obviously I don't drive the car that much. Unless I'm in for a catastrophic failure, I can live with the warning light. " Up until this week, I haven't had any problems. I didn't drive the car for two and a half weeks and when I started it, the brake warning light and check engine light both came on. When I backed out the brakes felt sticky and jerked. When I drove on the road it felt like the power brakes were off and I had to push pretty hard on the pedals to stop. I drove for a couple of miles with it this way and parked. About 45 minutes after being parked, the car started up without the check engine light but the brake warning light came on. The car drove normally after that and the brakes felt fine. I don't know what to conclude from that. The brake fluid level is fine.
  2. The brake warning light is unpredictable when it comes on. Sometimes at start up and sometimes while just driving.. I did notice today that the car was running fine on EV but as soon as the brake warning light came on, the car went out of EV and stayed on ICE. I hadn't noticed it before but the car runs fine between EV and ICE until the brake warning light comes on. Two separate mechanics have said the analyzer indicates a vacuum leak. I had the vacuum hose replaced but stopped at having the vacuum pump replaced at an estimated cost of $900. The car runs fine even with the brake warning light on except for not having EV at low speeds. No problems with braking, on a ten mile trip on the freeway boing about 65mph I still get 37 mpg.
  3. The actual cost to replace the vacuum hose was $300, two hours labor at $125/ hr and $50 for the hose. The new hose has two check valves instead of one on the one replaced. The other $150 was charged by another shop who wanted $700 to replace the hose! The hose is buried under a lot of parts and hard to get to. It seemed high to me also but I was stuck. The Ford dealer is quoting $225 to do an analysis. California's not a cheap place to live...

  5. Thanks, I have had similar experiences to yours. The only other problem I have now is with the "Brake warning light". It does not come on all of the time, it's intermittent with respect to each trip. Sometimes it comes on when the engine is cold and when I've driven a while and stopped and restarted, it doesn't come on. When the dealer serviced my car last month, he said the brakes were fine. I've checked my brake fluid and it's ok. I hope it might be just a software problem.
  6. My 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid have just over 50,000 miles on it. My fuel economy had dropped by approximately 25 percent. Is there some service I need to have performed? I used to get 39 to 40 mpg consistently but it has dropped to about 31 mpg.
  7. On 2011 FFH my USB will sometimes just stop working. When I try to access it I get "USB Removed". The only way I can reset it is to disconnect the battery for 30 seconds and reconnect the battery. It works fine until it decides to remove itself for no reason. I've had it into the dealer on a regular basis and they can never find anything wrong. I am using the USB to play audio books on my iPod Touch.
  8. I have 4000 miles on my 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid since my last oil change and the oil minder says to change oil. The car has 40,000 miles on it. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, if I wait to change the oil at 10,000 miles, how can I reset the oil minder? Is it safe to trust Oil Changers or Jiffy Lube? I've had all the previous service done at a Ford dealship.
  9. I think so, I was at the dealers a month ago with the problem and they said the software was up to date. How can I confirm that?
  10. change my password

  11. I have a 2011 FFH with the Sony Sound System I'm using a 1st Generation iTouch to listen to audio books. My issue is that when backing up sometimes the USB gets disconnected electronically and I get the message "USB removed". I have to disconnect the battery to reset the system to get the USB to work again. The dealer can't figure out what's happening and says it's a problem with the iTouch. 90% of the time the USB works fine but it also drops out sometimes when it's indexing. To solve this problem I just turn the radio off when I need to back up. Any other solutions would be appreciated.
  12. I've decided to take my Honda Odyssey. It's not worth the effort and gamble trying to get chains for the FFH
  13. Any recommendations for cable chains or plastic straps to put on a 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid to go into snow country? This is a once a year event if needed at all. I'm traveling from California to Washington in late January and might need them to go over the passes in Northern California and Southern Oregon.
  14. Is the 2013 Hybrid completely different? I read somewhere here in the forum that the engine is different.
  15. I just tried it on my 2011 FFH and only the front windows and sunroof open.
