Besides replacing the sway bar links, did you also replace the sway bar body mounts?

My problem ended up being Sway Bar links .

The noise I had in my 08 SEL (75,000 miles) sounded like a marble rolling around inside a wooden box, It drove me crazy for almost a year and it ended up being sway bar links. I replaced them with MOOG brand which had grease fittings as opposed to the OEM links that had none, they were also a lot beefier than the OEM's .

I just got my problem fixed , it was the sway bar links .

I also have this noise and its driving me crazy . Im seriously thinking of getting rid if this car if someone cant find out what is making this noise. It happens under 40mph , it happens even when the car is rolling in neutral . Its like a knocking sound , I dont know if its struts , strut mounts. I can reproduce the sound if I get out of the car , open the drivers door and rock the car by pushing up on the door jam , I then hear the knocking sound underneath. If I push down on the car I dont hear it .

I have an 08 SEL and mine started making that noise a few months ago , it seems to be doing it more and more lately, It is only at very slow speed . It sounds like something knocking , I dont hear it when I push down on the car but if I pull up on the car I hear it. I was thinking it is suspension related . I only hear it on the drivers side front . If I slip the car in neutral I still hear it while Im slow rolling , and it I turn the wheer fron left to right I hear it . I think by turning the wheel left to right is making the car go up and down and that is what makes me think its suspension related . Is there something that possible needs to be greased ? I car is pushing 80,000 miles

fusinoff, I had the same problem as the one shown in your pic. Last year I notice that I was hearing air coming through the moon roof. I noticed it was sitting lower in the back but thought that was just the way it was suppose to be. I foud myself always pushing up on the glass to try and get the air to stop coming in , I have been doing this for over a year. I just followed your instructions and in less than 5 minute its fixed, the glass now sits flush with the roof , I cant believe this !!! Thank you so much for posting this .

I have an 08 v6SEL and I just took a trip up to my property about 400 miles away, Computer was reading 32 MPG at one point but then went to 28.6 MPG for the rest of the trip . I was using cruise and alternating from 65 to 75 mph depending on the speed limit. On my normal commute to work I get 22mpg in stop and go traffic .

Im so timid now when opening my door now its ridiculous , and when someone is a passenger in my car all I can think of is if the handle is going to break when they open the door .

fredsoth My handle did not break as a result of the spring, mine broke internally . The piece that broke on mine looks like a gear it was in the handle assembly but entire assembly is plastic. I did trim the excess off the new spring so it wouldnt break like yours did .

Well I got the new handle installed today , and now Im almost affraid to use it . I just cant believe what a cheap piece of junk this is

ok my handle is on order with Team Ford. I wonder if this is the original handle I just took out, its completely made of plastic . I am the second owner of the car and I got it with 46,000 miles.

Well I finally got the nerve to take the door apart and to my surprise it took 10 mins . Here is what broke on mine.

I just called the 800 number and the girl wrote a report and said she will make the engineers aware of the problem. How do they not already know of the problem , I called 7 dealerships and no one has this handle in stock. Prices range from $45 to $70 .

Dealer did mention the part is made of pot metal but I have no idea what part it is from looking at the parts schematic on Team Ford, I just hate to take the door apart then have to drive around like that untill the part comes in. this just sucks .

I called the dealership today and explained my problem, I was told it is the controller and not the handle. The handle assembly is $23 and the controller is $60 . Does anyone know what the controller looks like I want to see if I can get it cheaper somewhere else.

Fastford I will do exactly what you suggested because if I have to drive around with the door panel taken apart for more than a day that would make me nuts . The door panel link is great , thank you very much for that !

Fastfords thank you for that link and part number, just to clarify do the symptoms I try to describe indicate my handle is broken inside because from outside the handle looks in perfect condition. I was hoping it would be a cable or something cheap or better yet something got disconnected inside.

Does anyone know what part I might possibly need ?, I dont want to take my door apart and have to drive around with it apart untill I get the parts. I will describe the best I can of what I have going on, My drivers door lock button does not move when I hit the lock button and it does not lock automatically when I start to drive. To open my door I now have to pull on the lock lever while I jiggling the lever you normally use to open the door, with constant pressure on the lock lever it then opens the door. Its actually the lock lever that I feel opening the door and not the one you normally use to open the door. The lock lever is in the unlock position while the door opening lever feels like it does when the door is locked. Hope I didnt make this to confusing .

I just hit 40,000 miles today , Im hoping something just came disconnected. Im gonna attempt to fix it this weekend.

Not sure what I have going on yet but tried to get out of my car tonight and the handle would no open the drivers side door, When I hit the power lock button all locks lock and unlock except drivers door. I had to reach out the window and open the door from the outside handle.

I just hit 39,000 today on my 08
