  1. I have a 2013 Fusion SE 2.5L. The recommended tire pressure is only 33 psi but I run 36 psi, use E10 (wish I could find straight gas) and have 9700 miles on the car. On my three 1700 mile round trips to Indiana I always run 70-75 mph or more and get 32+ mpg. The dash computer always reads between 33 and 34 mpg on the interstate. I also check my gas mileage at each fill-up so I know the 32+ mpg is accurate. With the cold weather, E10 gas and those speeds I think my 32+ mpg is pretty good. My around town mileage is 23 mpg. Except for the added tire pressure I don't do anything to the car to get better gas mileage. If the weathers hot I use the AC, cold I use the heater. I don't ever try to Hypermile the car. I just want to get to where I'm going as soon as possible. If you have 5000 miles on your car I think your gas mileage will improve slightly (mine did) in the next few thousand miles. I too absolutely love this car. A very comfortable, quiet and gorgeous car. Hope this helps.
  2. Just returned from my local dealer where I made an apointment for the fuel delivery module recall #13S04 on my 2013 Fusion SE. I also have the gas tank fill problem so I asked about the TSB 13-6-3. My car fit all the requirements except one! It's a 2.5L car, not the 1.6L or 2.0L Ecoboost engines stated in the TSB. They can do nothing about it until Ford brings out a TBS that specificially says "2.5L engine". So here's hopeing somebody at Ford is on this forum and informs them that the 2.5L owners have the same gas tank fill problem. The service manager did say that it is a venting problem thats makes it very hard to fill the tank. On most gas pumps I can get the last 2.5 gallons in the tank and it takes a v-e-r-y slow fill rate to do so. Some other pumps take many, many clicks to fill and is a real pain in the ass. It adds at least 3 to 5+ mins to the fill time. With a full tank my DTE with only around town driving is around400 miles and on road trips is over well 500 miles. Last road trip I got a DTE of 544 miles. It is good to know that the dealer knows about the problem and doesn't give you some computer problem story.
  3. I got a recall notice #13B02 for my 2013 Fusion SE 2.5L for "wrinkles could develop on the interior headliner around the moon roof opening". Really! I can't see a thing wrong with my headliner. I'm also on the list for recall #13S04 fuel delivery module. I'm still glad Ford is doing the right thing no matter how trivial some of the recalls may be.
  4. Pretty car! I love those appearance package wheels.
  5. A lawsuit on a cars that been on sale for 5 months! Are you serious!
  6. I have been watching this topic a while and been waiting to get more info from my 2013 Fusion SE 2.5L. Last 2 fill ups have told me alot. Both fill ups had 20 miles DTE. On both fill ups I got 13.6 gals in after 2nd click. On the second fill up by pumping in the gas real slow with many gas nozzle clicks I got 15.2 gals.in the gas tank. About a gallon of gas left in the tank so it sounds like a 16.5 tank to me. Something in the gas tank (probably internal baffles) is making the gas pumps turn off way too soon. I hope Ford comes up with a TSB for the early ones who got this gas tank. Though mine doesn't seem to be as bad as some others. Right now its just a pain to fill up but I do know I can fill it if I have to.
  7. Its still a cold winter, you only have 3500 miles on it and by your own admission you like to "drive" your car. Give it a chance. Let the weather warm up some and give it a few thousand more miles to fully break in. My last cars(2011 Merc Milan 2.5L) gas mileage was still improving at 9,000 miles. My 2013 Fusion SE 2.5L has 2 options, sunroof & rear back-up alert. I too felt that all the electronic driving crap was unneeded and unwanted by me. And like you I love to drive the car. Lots of fun! And its beautiful! PLUS you have AWD so you can still have fun in bad weather. Good luck with your new car!
  8. The so called "inflated MPG ratings" are with the Fusion hybrid model not the regular gas engined cars. I have a 2013 2.5L Fusion SE and so far my gas mileage(22.64 MPG) is slightly above the EPAs 22MPG city estimate with nothing but city driving. And it has been very cold this past month here in the northeast. I did get almost 29 mpg on a 1700 mile highway trip but the car only had 80 miles on it when I started so it wasn't even close to being broken in. I now have 2700 miles and still don't think it is broken in yet. I think I will get what the EPA estimates with no problem. Everybody talks about the Ecoboost engines but there is nothing wrong with the 2.5L. We don't get any respect! The 2.5L has lots of PEP, is fun to drive and is not a slug. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the available engines.
  9. Pretty car! First new car is a big deal. Congratulations!
  10. That is one pretty car! I really love those wheels on the appearance package. Best of luck with your new ride.
  11. First time I checked gas mileage the old fashioned way (miles traveled/gas used) I got 22.63 city mpg on my 2.5L 13 Fusion SE with 2375 miles on the odometer. I'm very satisfied. I just love this car & look forward to driving it.
  12. Personally I think there will be decent aftermarket support for the 1.6 Ecoboost. I too think that there is lots of untapped performance in the 1.6L engine and a good tuner will find it. I'm thinking 25-30 more HP should be pretty easy even in the 1.6L engine. If I were younger I would love to have a stick 1.6L Ecoboost Fusion but will have to make due with my auto 2.5L. You should buy one anyway! I say go for It! The blue with appearance package looks great. All the magazine testers love the stick 1.6L Ecoboost Fusion.
  13. I had a 2011 Mercury Milan with the same 2.5L engine and put 12000+ miles on it with no problems at all. The car was very reliable for the 2 years I had it. I now have a new 2013 Fusion SE 2.5L. I'm still breaking in the engine (2500 miles) and am very satisfied with the cars performance & gas mileage. I took a road trip to Indiana the day after I got the car and with all highway miles on it, it got close to 29 mpg at 1800 miles. I've had the car since Oct.22 and just love It. Congratulations & Good Luck with your new Fusion!
