  1. Traded a 2010 Scion tC RS 6.0, 5-spd, hatchback, #562 of 1100. What I will miss... Hatchback with center button opener (after unlocked) Sharp blue color & laser stripe Went over 120 mph a couple of times Getting lots of compliments on the car What I won't miss... Kept missing 3rd gear during power shift Rough ride Bad mpg's, ave 24-26 hwy (the 120 mph hits didn't have anything to do with it...) Cramped driver's side leg room (I'm 6') No back seat leg room (never had to ride there, but wife did once) Not good messin' with Momma...because when Momma ain't happy, no one is Got the 2011 Fusion SE with I-4, auto, button paddle shift on knob, sun roof, black grill, and custom wheels, a week ago. Bought it March 25 as a birthday present. Like it so far and with just over 1,100 miles since buying it, mileage is between 29 & 34 hwy. The tuxedo black is getting compliments and the ride is great. Anemic power starting out from a stop, but plenty once moving. No outside trunk release button without the fob. Seats 4 comfortably. Looking at buying a '94 Mustang V-6 vert with auto for the drive to work car. Have other cars to enjoy on the weekends... Last words in fatal accidents for 49 of 50 states are "Oh Sh*t!" Final words in Wisconsin are "Hold my beer, I'm gonna try somethin'..." Cya on the road, Marv.
  2. I know it's not polite to just start posting without introducing one's self. Having said that, some of the guys have already helped me out, which I appreciate. I'm "old school"...special emphasis on old. I grew up being a Ford Guy and always said that I would only allow 2 Chevies in the driveway...a '57 BelAir 2dr hardtop and a Corvette. Did both back in the late 70's and have been hooked on Corvettes ever since. Always kidded the guys that I was going to put a BBF into one of the Vettes, but never did, although I did put a Ford 9 inch under one many years ago, and painted another one a Lincoln red...both mods made the Vettes go faster. (still have a '69 Vette and a 460 Ford that could go together...heh, heh, heh) Been getting alot of crap lately about driving Toyotas, but Toyota gave me good deals on new cars, so...last summer I bought a new Scion tC RS 6.0 with 5 spd. Cute little thing, but hard on gas...can't keep my foot out of the throttle and blowing off a few of the other ricers is fun. Wish I had taken a picture of the blue oval I fashioned for the back of the tC. Kept the tuners wondering what the heck just kicked their butt... When I wore a younger man's clothes, I had several '65 - '66 Mustangs at the same time and drag raced a '65 FB 2+2 when I was in the Army. Had a new '70 Torino FB, 4-spd, 351C, with posi (the x got that back in '75). Drove all sorts of Fords through the 80's - 90's and have been wanting to get back into a Ford for awhile now. Just got a granny car...a 2011 Fusion SE, I-4, in tuxedo black. Love it. Drivers in the garage are a '75 Corvette coupe, 350 bored 60 over and back to stock configutation except for headers, 350 auto with shift kit, and chambered pipes-no mufflers (loud pipes save lives). Had a modded 350 w/ 3 deuces in it for a couple of years...hit 140 several times with that set up. The fun driver is a '73 Vette Widebody vert, 454, 4-spd, with wide a$$ tires. Every now and again, I'll get a tuner wanting to play...nothing like BB power to quiet a kid down... Also have another Widebody project and a MakoShark project, both waiting for me to retire. Even have a '71 PInto project that has been sitting in the barn for over 30 years and a '40 Chev project waiting for the 3 deuce engine. Now lookin' at a '94 Mustang vert, v-6, auto, for a summer go-to-work car. Will have to let you know how that works out. By now, you should be able to figure out that I'm as old as dirt, but luvin' every minute of it. Never enough big boy toys...and as you can see, I can't say anything in 2 words or less. Thanks guys. Cya on the road. There ain't no cure for the SummerTime Blues...(smrtmblues)...Marv B
  3. dabige, I suspect that you are right about it not being an easy task... The question I have arises from other cars that when unlocked, the truck can be opened by a button over the license plate in the cove area where the plate lights are. It allows me to open the trunk without the use of a fob or having to open the driver's door to push a button or pull a handle. Being able to open the trunk is much easier when my hands are full and I don't have to fumble for a fob or go get it because I stupidly forgot it in the house... I load and unload my trunk somewhat frequently and at times do not have the fob in my pocket, but the car is unlocked. What I am advocating is a button that would do the same job that the dash button does...when the car is unlocked. If the car is locked, I would need the fob. Sorry about stealing the thread. I'll work on it and see what I can come with. At least the popper opens the trunk far enough to get my fingers under the lip...^_^ Thanks
  4. I'll apologize in advance for not searching, but I'm short on time today. Other cars I have owned have had the outside temp readout somewhere on the dash or in the radio screen. My 2011 Fusion SE doesn't even have the option. I can get an aftermarket rear view mirror installed for a little over $400, but figure that I can do it myself. Have any of you installed an aftermarket temp sensor and readout system? Thanks, Marv.
  5. I'd like to go one farther... In less than a week, it has already proven to be somewhat of a frustration getting the trunk open when your hands are full, you don't have the fob, and hard to open driver's door to get at the button. My 2011 SE has the key fob and dash button. My question is: Has anyone mounted an external pushbutton above the license plate? And if so, how did you wire it?
  6. The picture shown in Ford Performance only shows the hood, but indicates that there are stripes for the sides. I ask the question...if anyone has the racing stripes applied, could you provide pictures? Thanks
