  1. Yeah, mid cycle Ford installed a black plastic lump in the driver's floorboard near the pedals. This would prevent your foot from getting stuck (breaking the ankle or leg) when the floor of the car distorted during impact. 2007 models have it hidden under the carpet.
  2. He may have some concern for crash survivability or safety in general, and to this point, the 2007 is literally in a different league from the 2006. 2007 Fusion IIHS Crash Results: Frontal Off-set: GOOD Side Impact: GOOD/AVERAGE (Avg rating applies to Job 1) 2006 Fusion IIHS Crash Results: Frontal Off-set: AVERAGE Side Impact: POOR (No Side Airbags) You'll note Fusions with the side airbags by the label above the B-pillar of the interior (near the headliner).

Who exactly did I call a name or ridicule? You still need to work out some issues with how you define these terms. Calling what someone does to a car "gay" does not equal calling the person who drives the car gay. You're connecting dots, drawing conclusions, and overall causing a scene over an imagined offense. I never said you can't post your opinion. Hell, I think I've been overly encouraging it. What I have a problem with is your constant derailing of threads in an effort to beat my long dead horse. I guarantee I would. The difference is the person would comprehend my tone because they would hear me instead of inferring it in their own head. Most people understand that saying "your car looks like crap" is completely different than "you look like crap." The bus to fantasyland broke down five miles back. I think you're still on it though. If someone who points and laughs at your car you put that in the same category as verbal assault? Glad you're not on my city's police force. Threats are both unnecessary and unwarranted. Especially for a flame that you continuously fan.
  4. May be worth it to wait a couple of months, my friend. The 2008 model year is right around the corner (fall). By that point, everything with a "7" at the end of it will be reduced. If you are not in a position where a replacement vehicle must be had immediately, I'd strongly consider waiting it out until September/October.

There's a bigger problem here than this "that-guy's-a-meanie" complex going around... What I see are adults who for one reason or another cannot deal with any opinion that contradicts their own. The sensitivity level certain forum members possess borders on the psychological equivilent of an allergy to light. I am not a fanboy with allegiance to any product I own, much less a freakin' car. I joined this forum initially because I was upset with Ford's under-the-table slip of a controversial oil filter on the 2.3L Fusion/Milan/6. I wanted to share that information with other owners as I thought it was important. From there, my goal has been to stay informed on any problems other owners may encounter that could also impact my vehicle. In the meantime, threads are started that I--as a member of this forum--have access to and license to comment on. Perhaps the vile behavior I've been accused of could be best defined as "blatant honesty." The one thing I notice is that rarely does the post that I'm addressing ever get any momentum because the superhero guys that I pissed off one day swoop in to attack my every comment. Even rarer are situations where the guy who started the thread attempts to explain his motivations or decisions in any effort to shed some light on the topic. He's usually cut off by the superhero character. Here's a helpful tip to the saviors of any forum: Address the first post ONLY. This is how forums are supposed to work. Someone starts a thread in some shade of show-and-tell... you see... you comment. You don't see and then comment on someone else's comment which may or may not even be related to the original topic. Make sense? We have an absurd number of threads here that wither and die within the first 3-4 posts because people jump in to "save the day." Please: Don't bother... just make your comment and let's continue.
  6. And that solves the Mystery of the Missing Ham!
  7. Do you ever post on this forum with the intention to address a thread topic, provide a unique point of view, or contribute in any rational manner--or are you simply infatuated with some self-perceived Superman role that doesn't exist? So the guy who started this thread is just yankin' chains. Yuck-yuck-yuck!

You're clearly manifesting an issue that doesn't exist. There are no sides here. This is a collection of individuals with individual opinions. Some which you are neither obligated to respond to nor agree with. Manage to get this through your thick skull and you'll be a happier person. Otherwise, either quit whining or seek professional help immediately...
  9. Is this a cry for attention, or do you honestly want to come across as a jackass? Just curious.
  10. I would avoid a 2006 model as it was the first year of production. Many improvements over the 06 model year were enacted in the 07. They're not obvious, but have more to do with safety and equipment issues. A few issues I'm aware of: - 2007 Job 1 Fusion/Milan did not feature the accessory MP3 jack. - 2007 Job 2 Fusion/Milan received improved crash safety ratings due to the replacement of specific interior panels with that of a different material. - Late 2007 year Fusions have a roof mounted antenna. Again, I understand you're eyeing a 2006 model, but there are long term advantages to getting a 2007 that may include reliability and safety improvements. This may not be the information you're looking for, but it's my advice.

You have a very broad definition of "hate." Someone doesn't like the decisions another person makes and this is called "hating?" Which one of us is truely the "hater" here? Get off my back and grow some spine. Maybe if you'd ever actually express an opinion on a subject you'd be distracted enough to refrain from reacting to everyone elses.
  12. I for one think it looks great. I used to frequent another car forum a few years ago that had a similar black background/white text appearance... this is a welcome relief. No more staring at a big white screen. I'd suggest you adjust your brightness and contrast settings on your monitor.

Note the white car parked right next to his Fusion has the same aftermarket wheels. How unique... <_< Pretty soon it will be more special to have a completely stock vehicle than one that someone's "personalized."
  14. Ford supplanted Toyota as the leader of the pack in initial quality rankings, taking the top spot in five of 19 segments in the 2007 survey by J.D. Power and Associates, released Wednesday. “We saw dramatic improvement from Lincoln,” said Neal Oddes, J.D. Power’s director of product research and analysis. “It was a fantastic year for the Mercury Milan, with dramatic improvements in terms of defects.” http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19073071/ Fusion was in 3rd place.
  15. I might suggest you cease leadfooting (80mph). If you stay around 65, you'll save a lot of fuel. Additionally, it appears the photo was taken shortly after fill-up. Your MPG reading will be very low until you spend more time moving and less time idling. It is, after all, an average.

Just trying to save the guy some money and some face. I mean, seriously... if you want people to think you're a thug gangsta, go ahead and turn this fine automobile into a pimped thug gangasta-mobile. Just don't complain when cops profile you as a criminal or your car is on bricks in the morning.

    Fuel Door Mod

Update: While the Fusion/Milan fuel door appears to be identical to the Mustang's, it's on the opposite side of the car. This means swapping it out for the Bullit fuel door would have the new door upside-down. Wish I'd kept my Bullit door now just to try this out. I wouldn't want it on my vehicle though. Not a very "Milan" thing... but would fit well on a Fusion.

Definite step in the right direction. Daewoo = <vomit> You should be much happier with this vehicle. Did you get the I-4 or the V6? I want to make you aware of the canister oil filter cartridge on the four-cylinder. It's not a twist-on oil filter as as far as I have experienced, you can only get them at dealerships (Mazda, Ford, Lincoln-Mercury). Probably looked great with the stock wheels. Tires are a hell of a lot cheaper to replace too. What is it that makes you want to gangsta/bling this car?
  19. Looks like an AMC AMX mated with a M-B SLK. I like it, but it's not a viable product considering Ford's current predicament. I think it's hard to even make an argument for a Fusion coupe, much less a performance model of such a car... but, yes, it would be a very nice option to have available (even Nissan recently admits the mid-size coupe market is there by introducing the uniquely styled Altima coupe this year).
  20. So long as they don't use the 360 board, everything will be dandy. Can you imagine the clock face on the dash flashing orange after a critical failure? LOL
  21. Go ahead and follow that prescription, champ... but it's not happening in my house. I just surpasses 10,000 miles on my Milan this morning and it's going in for its third oil change on Monday. Motorcraft's semi-synthetic seems to be a fairly decent oil for commodity use. I've had service at 4,000 and 7,000 miles thus far. I left the break-in oil in for 4,000 because you typically want that oil in for a longer period.
  22. Still no intention to address the guy who started the thread? Maybe take him under your gentle wing of compassion and show him the light? He needs help, and I'll be the first to say that you've proven to be the man for the job. When the guy who doesn't know you're supposed to change the oil every 3 months or 3,000 miles shows up, I'll be sure to point him in your direction!
  23. Why did they build a special website for SYNC already? Maybe because Fall is in three months and marketing is all about buzz. That's why we're even discussing it here. Ford needs all the rare good press juice it can suck out of this desert of an existence. Showing the public that Ford is extremely tech savvy early on will get the bug in their ears so by the time they go to buy that new car, they've got that SYNC feature in their minds already. Ford desparately needs something like this to distinguish themselves from the crowd. If it's done right (and it usually isn't), this type of partnership and technology offering could be a decisive factor in someone's buying decision.
