  1. I have replaced both my rear wheel bearings over the life of my car. Both times they only made noise, no play. If I remember correctly, the bearings are pressed together, so if they fail, the only think holding your wheel on is the brake rotor. I would ask the dealer if when it fails the warranty company will cover the needed pads, rotor, caliper and maybe more since they will all be damaged.

If I remember correctly its a $75.00 part from Ford, and easy to change. This is why extended warranty companies suck. If you have the ability, I would say change it yourself, especially if you have a deductable.

In my opinion, I dont mess with wheel bearings, they just get more expensive the longer they make noise.

  2. I have looked into this for quite a while, and there really isn't much out there. I was forced to go with the 1.6 because I wanted a manual, so we are stuck with the small engine.

However,  I did purchase a tune from Livernois Motorsports, its pricey, but it did make a good jump. Its still no race car, but its better than stock. When they looked up my computer code, they told me it was a Fiesta ST computer code, odd.

This prompted me to look into the differences between the 1.6 Fiesta ST and the 1.6 Fusion engine. From all the techs I have talked to at Ford, and any part number cross reference, they are mostly identical. So, an upgraded turbo for the 1.6 Fiesta ST will fit. Tuning is your issue as it would need to be custom. Then there is the actual fitment in the Fusion body. The engine might be the same, but the structure around it, and location of other components are different. So it really is as other said, trial and error.

I'm sure it can be done, but would be very costly. Might be cheaper to swap in a Focus ST drivetrain. In the end, is it really worth it for all that money? That's pretty much why I stopped at a tune.

    Hope that helps

  3. I'm not sure what the group size is for your particular car, however, as long as it is 12 volt, uses the stock connections, fits in the stock location, is held in place with the stock components, and the terminals don't touch the body or anything, you should be fine.

Personally I always replace with the OEM battery, unless you have done a lot of electrical upgrades or changes to your car.

  4. I swapped over to Morimotto LED bulbs and raised the aim just slightly, now they work great and plenty of light. However, like jpohlman said, you will need a relay harness and resistors if you are going with LED.

I ended up learning all this after I installed the bulbs, and it cost me way more than I expected. However, I am very happy with the light output now.

  5. My car is due for brakes and I'm looking to do this upgrade finally.

I have confirmed that all the cars you mention do take the same rotor, 345mm (13.5 inches) but most part stores dont carry the caliper. They do carry it for only the 2016 MKX 4wd 3.7, and it is dual piston. Looks like I can get all new parts pads calipers and rotors for about $400.00

My only question is if they will fit under 18 inch wheels. Has anyone successfully done it with 18 inch OEM Ford wheels?

  6. I'm sure this has been mentioned somewhere, but I cant seem to find it. What is the manufacturer and model or name of the stock turbo on a 1.6L Fusion? The next question is, what about the 1.6L Fiesta ST? Are they the same turbo just with different flanges and piping?

I would find it hard to believe that Ford would put a completely different turbo on the Fiesta ST, I'm thinking its mostly just different computer programming for the extra few HP over the 1.6 Fusion.

Any info you have on the differences of the 2 would be helpful as well.

    Thanks in advance.

  7. I installed a boost gauge in my 1.6. Really you just tap the hose into any line that had manifold pressure using a T fitting. Mounting of the gauge is more complicated since there are not too many options for our cars. I had to build a mount for mine.

I will try to get pictures if you would like.

  8. Sorry for the late response, I'm not on here much.

Ford replaced my engine because it was a known issue on the 1.6. If you have a 2016 it is probably a 1.5, and I am not sure if it has the same issue.

However, you need to go to a good dealer and have them look and look and look through all the recalls and TSB for your car to see if any are at all related.

  9. I've often thought about doing this as well. It looks like all the mounts are there under the car, the muffler is in the same place, it just comes out both sides like the older Camaros did. But there would be no performance gain, just appearance. I wouldn't mind going with an aftermarket bumper, but without side skirts it probably wouldn't look right.

The way everyone drives around here, and the amount of miles I drive, I'm sure I'll get tapped in the back bumper sooner or later. That's probably when I will do it.

Hey quick question (im not super mechanically inclined) but did you engine shake at all???

I don't really get on here much, so I just saw this.

No, the engine didn't shake at all. Honestly I couldn't even tell there was a problem except for the check engine light and the coolant smell in the garage when first started. It ran fine.

  11. I know this is an old topic, but I have the same problem on both my mirrors. Every time it rains, the mirrors go crazy, moving all over the place. They never return to the correct place, and I have to adjust them myself and resave them. I have been to the dealer about this, and they can not repeat it.

It certainly seems like a major safety issue to me if I stop to get gas on a rainy day, get back in the car and drive away then go to change lanes and the mirrors are pointed out in the middle of no where.

I guess I'm just glad to hear I'm not the only one.
