  1. Congratulatons. You did good. Smart to make the dealers fight over you! I'm driving a "Nightbird" now (gave Hubby the silver one)... Not as many bells and whistles, but still great (SE V6 FWD).. and second Fusion cost 4.5 K less than the first one! After a few weeks your dealer can give you the VIN and there's a way to track from there... Good luck! :happy feet:
  2. BTW.. how close is "Capital Ford" to you? I just saw a Red SEL in stock there (website).. don't think it is AWD.. but it has heated leather seats. My point is .. dealers like to have cars in stock with "lots of goodies" and if you don't order one now.. you are bound to find one .. you can walk in and buy right at the end of a month when they're trying to push sales out the door.
  3. You're welcome. I've subscribed to Consumer Reports for years and find it a good guideline but a bit.. well grain of salt on their final conclusions, so I pay more attention to "how they test". With car deals.. I hate to haggle so X-Plan was great. With X-Plan they even have to remove "dealer prep". What I used to do though, was just persistently ask things like "Is that the best you can do"? and wait for the salesman's upper lip to break into a sweat! They seemed to guffaw when I used to walk in with my Consumer Reports pages. (How rude!!) My husband liked my Silver SEL so much I gave it to him and bought another Fusion off another lot. (I found where it was using the website). Let me explain: I'm not rich, but my car "savings account" .. I do serious Payroll deductions and buy Company stock at a 15% discount (Companies that do this call it the ESPP ).. and My beautiful blue Betty Boop (Contour Sport SE.. lasted 9 years.. so stock slaes also paid for granite kitchen and bath counters and ceramic tile!! In the meantime, value of company stock first doubled then split... doubling again. Good thing I bought when I did, because values fell at the end of 2007!! (Which I consider a "sale" so upped my deductions. Hey - life is expensive and we all gotta plan!) The Fusion "off a lot" cost 4.5K less because it is an SE, not SEL and FWD, not AWD...and cloth seats. But still peppy and fun.. and hubby is the one with the long commute so I'm glad he has the AWD.
  4. Well dear Corbie. Don't let anyone stampe you. There are always cars available - esp "with all the goodies". I was impressed that you are planning to put 50% down and committed to that end. I paid cash for the Silver SEL AWD I bought last year with "all the goodies". I've done this for years and start a "new car savings account" as soon as I buy a car. This keeps my eye on the true value of money. Easy credit can make us forget we still have to pay. It's also a great feeling not to fill out forms "begging for credit".. and be able to take full advantage of cash rebates, when they are offerred in lieu of financing. So, I ordered the 07 in March, and got it at the end of May (10 weeks). What a long wait and boy, did I feel like I just had my money tied up for soo long, because I kept seeing deals I had to pass up because I was committed. I think the rebate was $2K and I bought with the X_Plan offerred by my work. (Last car I ordered took exactly 5 weeks and 3 days!) So, I kept watching the incentives.. by the time August rolled around the incentives had hit $3000!!! This year I plan to wait till August to buy a Taurus X for my daughter with the 4 kids...They're high priced so I'm hoping the Incentives grow there too. Until the end of March the Incentives totalled $2K. They are now $3K. And while I was hunting around one of the online dealer lots around February this year, I saw a brand new 2007 Fire Red Ford Fusion outifitted with the Leather, and heated seats, and AWD etc etc.. with a $3500 rebate... right at my local dealer. If you would like to use the tool.. you can't really generate a PIN to get the X-Plan Pricing, but you can see the real bottom line figures, and use the tool to review the in stock Fusions at all the dealers you are willing to visit. The Website is https://www.fordpartner.com/partnerweb/login.do Passwd: WPHN1 Good Luck :happy feet:
  5. Have to tell you.. First Fusion is the AWD SIlver SEL Second Fusion is the FWD BLue SE Don't see much difference in the cars, except that the blue one rides a little lower on 1" smaller tires... I like smaller so that's better for me. I sold my old car privately.. and even though it only took a week.. it drove me insane. Selling.. even privately.. IMO is a bad idea. Stress of having the money tied up .. and then maybe having to wait to find a new one. Maybe with hubby driving the AWD this winter (he drives further than I).. He'll find a time the AWD drives better.. but right now? Well the AWD SEL leather seats, X-Plan pricing, yadda yadda, cost about 4.5K more thant the FWD SE.. Not worht it.. really!
  6. Well .. I see others have shown you how it would look.. sort of more like my dark blue Fusion SE! (Yup.. bought another one. Let hubby have the fancy one. He's having fun!)
  7. Called the dealer to ask about the extended warranty. I had been told they're on sale right now. Dealer quote is higher now than at the end of May when I picked up the car. Can I still buy it direct from the Ford Factory? (that's how I bought the ESP for my old car)
  8. So you're selling your Mustang? Hang in there..it's worth the extra cash to go through the private saled. My old car, a 1998 Ford Contour SE .. took a week to sell, and that was after the first buyer fell through because Grandpa was buying the car as a first for his grandson..but his mom said no. Too fast a car to use for a first .. (I'll make our grandkids drive a Rambler!)
  9. You are right. Ordering a car never used to mean so long a wait.. I do like the new "addition to the family" but if I knew then what I know now, I would have found one close to what I wanted on a dealer lot!
  10. I did.. get the rebate, and even though I paid cash, they gave me the $250 rebate too. Seeing the numbers turned me into a polite Pussy Cat! The Silver SEL is a V6 AWD with leather, heated seats, etc.. Really nice but a little big.. My husband loves all the toys and he fits better.. so I moved all my stuff out of it and into his 2004 Hyundai Sonata - moved his stuff into the Fusion and hid his car keys. The 2004 is a nice sized car (a little smaller than the new ones). She runs real smooth and seat of the pants feel I was getting in my 1998 Contour SE .. feels more "my size".. He still feels guilty but he'll get over it! (something about that new car smell!) Gee, if this Sonata wasn't so nice, and I had an extra 15K.. I'd grab a Focus 5 dr Hatchback.. there is one at a local dealer .. "with all the toys" for 15K and some change (Leather, heated seats, etc)
  11. Thanks for responding. I got the call this am.. Will go over this pm to inspect and drive it.. now to fight for the rebate I was told "is safe" but now the fine print says "in stock". Total time so far is 8 1/2 weeks, which I could have lived with.. I think if the truth was told from day 1
  12. I ordered my Fusion on 3/31/07. Salesman first remarked it would take 4-5 weeks, then, 4 weeks later said "I never said that.. they always take 7-8 weeks".. then 8 weeks later.. stopped dealing with lying salesman and spoke with Sales Manager, who said the week of May 21.. drop dead date being May 28. Then went to CustomersAskFord .. first rep says between May 25 and June 1. A couple of days later.. it's June 1.. Has anyone else experienced this kind of runaround?
