  1. Thanks, It gets towed to my mechanic on Thursday. I drive pretty much every day - usually around 30 miles locally. It is a 2007 with over 200K miles. I did notice yesterday a slight squealing after starting it up. I don't recall ever replacing the alternator. Thinking maybe alternator or serpentine belt. Will update. Edited: Just opened the hood and the belt is off.
  2. Good morning, I have a 2007 Ford Fusion. When I started it this morning, it started right up, but the 'check charging system' light stayed on, as well as the battery light & the steering wheel was also very stiff. Any ideas what this could be? Battery is about 1.5 years old. I'm going to have it towed to my mechanic, but curious what to prepare for :). Thanks in advance.
  3. Can anyone suggest an adhesive that will work to keep my rear taillight lens cover on? It fell off the other day. I've tried Loctite automotive super glue and it isn't holding. Any other suggestions?
  4. I'm happy with how long it is lasted. I bought my used in 2008 with about 20K miles. Other than regular maintenance (oil changes/brakes/wipers/battery/etc) I've had to repair the following: front axles replace secondary air pump replaced (had to replace again at end of 2015) control arms replaced (upper and lower) rear calipers replaced after freezing up starter replaced All of the above was replaced when mileage was over 130K. That being said, wrench light came on other day while stopped at red light. Last two times it happened, it was the secondary air pump. I drove it for a week after with no issues. It is at my mechanic's now and it is giving a code relating to internal transmission (I'll find out exact code when I pick up). So, this may be it for the car
  5. (sorry if posted in wrong forum) Hi - curious how many miles everyone has on their Fusion? I have a 2007 Fusion and just hit 202,000 miles.
  6. Hi, curious if there is an update. I have a 2007 Fusion with 202,000 miles. At my mechanic's now for an oil change and front brakes. I have the same issue you do - vibration when idling in drive. When I step on the gas, it goes away and when it is in park there is no vibration. My mechanic said the rubber on bottom motor mount is gone.
  7. I'm going to have my mechanic check this out on my car. I noticed my 2007 fusion occasionally vibrates when I'm stopped at a red light. In park/neutral no vibration.
  8. Bumping this. This happened to me today. I have a 2007 Ford Fusion. This morning my dash indicator light came on to 'Check left headlamp'. About 10 hours later, the indicator came on to 'Check right headlamp'. Got out to check and both headlights were out. Parking lights/fog lights/high beams worked. I also noticed my left taillight was out but I didn't get a warning about that. When I got home I replaced the left headlight and it worked. I had bought them (Philips H11 VisionPlus) through Amazon on December 5, 2017 and most likely would have put them in shortly after that.
  9. No, no clicking noise. It is actually more like a metal on metal noise than grinding noise. (I tried to edit original post to reflect this, but no go). I did have both front axles replaced in December.
  10. Not sure if this is the correct forum. About a week ago I started intermittently hearing what sounded like a loose heat shield when turning left. As soon as I straightened out the wheel it disappeared. The last few days I would hear it as I was driving straight no matter what speed I was going, however it too was intermittent. Also, started hearing what sounds like a wheel bearing going bad on smoother road surfaces. On my way to work today, heard nothing the whole 25 minute ride. Made an appt w/my mechanic for Friday. However, coming home from work today, I started hearing a grinding noise when coming to a stop. It then continued as I drove. Sounded like I was dragging a piece of metal. Pulled over, looked underneath and nothing. I did happen to go through a few puddles as it's been pouring all day. Left the car in a parking lot and will have it towed. Any ideas what this could be? I'm guessing all the noises are related, although the rattling sounded like front driver's side and the grinding I heard today sounds like it is coming from the rear.
  11. Thanks! Took it to transmission shop today and as soon as the rumble/shudder started he said it is the axle. So, back to my mechanic next week to get it done. Going to do both axles at the same time.
  12. Hi, I have an 07 Fusion with 180K miles. About 3 months ago I noticed a shudder or feeling like riding over rumble strips while accelerating. It only happens between 20 - 25 mph. If I am coasting at that speed, it rides very smooth. Also, if I make a hard right turn i hear a rubbing sound. I thought it may be my tires because the front passenger had excess wear on the outer tread. I had the front tires replaced in mid-October but it didn't fix the problem. Brought it to my mechanic today for that, along with oil change and to check out a creaking from front right passenger side. His main concern was the shudder after he and the other mechanic took it for a ride. They aren't sure if it transmission related or the axle. He reached out to his friend who owns a transmission shop and the guy said it could actually be the axle. So, the transmission guy is going to drive it tomorrow to see what he thinks. My mechanic also said the lower driver side control arm needs to be replaced. He looked into the creaking noise I mentioned and he said everything looks fine, just may need some grease. He wants to hold off doing any other work until we figure out the shudder situation. Just curious if anyone else had encountered anything like this.
  13. When the part came in for my car (August), the dealership called me twice on one day and left 2 voicemails telling me I needed to drop my fusion off asap. Said they would notify Enterprise to start charging me, if I didn't drop it off.
  14. Thanks - I'll post what it is about when I get home. The rental worked out great for me since the AC in my car is broken. We have a few more hot days coming up so would welcome another rental, but probably not likely
  15. Curious for those who have already had their airbags replaced (like me). I have an app that tells me what postal mail is being delivered daily. I see there is a letter from Ford arriving today stating Safety Recall Notice. Wondering if it is just confirmation that my airbag was replaced (which I rec'd from dealer) or if there is another safety recall
  16. I’m in New Jersey. I just dropped it off at dealership. However when I started driving it, it was making a rattling noise in the front & it sounded like the back tire was flat, like a thumping noise. Got out and checked it was fine. Both noises subsided after about 1 mile. Hope it’s nothing. Car was parked since I got the rental in late June. I started it up every week and a half or so and moved it back and forth up the driveway.
  17. Just rec'd a call from Ford my airbag is in. They are asking me to bring my car in this afternoon or tomorrow to get it fixed and return the rental car. I'm out of town until Monday evening. Hope they don't give me a hard time.
  18. My wrench light came on in my '07 twice (a few years apart). Both times it was the secondary air pump. This symptoms both times were slow acceleration and when coming to a stop a slight jerk.
  19. I rec'd the letter and am currently doing the rental. I mentioned what I did in another post. I stopped in to Ford on a Wednesday morning to sign the waiver. However, I told them the rental car wouldn't be available until early evening and I would need to drive my car to/from work that day (which was true). The rep at Ford said it was fine. I also noted on that on waiver. My commute is only 13 miles r/t, but Ford doesn't know that. I do plan on taking my car around the block every so often as I am not comfortable letting is sit for however long. If I'm questioned about the extra miles, which won't be much, I'll tell them it was due to my commute to work on the day I picked up the rental.
  20. I stopped into Ford and signed my waiver on Wednesday morning before work. I had to put the mileage down. However, I told them the rental car wouldn't be available until late afternoon and that I needed to drive my car to/from work that day and questioned the additional mileage. She said don't worry about it. I plan on moving my car a couple of times a week and if they question the extra miles, I'll tell them they were put on between signing the waiver and picking up my rental car.
  21. I don't have it with me but it was something along the lines of: Ford isn't required to store your car during your use of the rental; if they do store your car, they are not responsible for any vandalism, theft, etc.
  22. Sorry, didn't know how to edit the previous post. Picked up the rental at Enterprise yesterday. He said I was the 7th Ford customer he's had in 3 days. They only had two cars to choose from: 2018 Nissan Versa Sedan or 2017 Nissan Versa Sedan. Told me I could call on Friday (If I don't like the car) as that is when people usually bring back cars and I can get a bigger one if needed. Also said Ford told him the rentals could be a few weeks to a few months. They billed my cc a $50 charge, but said it would be returned at end of rental.
  23. Stopped into the dealership on my way to work. The waiver states that you will not drive your car except to the place where you will store it, the dealership is not responsible for storing your car, but if they do, they are not responsible for anything happening to it (theft/vandalism/etc).
  24. I'm not sure. She left me a voicemail. She said '"It's a new stipulation from Ford where the customer has to come into the dealership and sign a Restrictive Vehicle Use Agreement before the customer is authorized to get a rental car". I'm assuming it means I can't drive my car while having the rental car. Maybe that is why they are asking for exact mileage. That way it releases Ford from liability if I do decide to drive my car and the airbag explodes...just a guess. They are most likely doing this going forward. Would be interesting to see if they reach out to the individuals who already have a rental to sign the agreement as well.
