  1. I know I replaced the battery, I am sure within 3 years ago. It doesn't happen all the time, it comes and goes. I just don't want it to happen while I am driving.
  2. Before I take my car in on Tuesday to a Electronic Car Specialist to scan the car, I wonder if anyone experienced an issue with the Power Steering Assist Fault? There at times when I turn on my car and a message comes up saying POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT and I can't move the steering wheel. But I find that if I turn off the car and turn it back on again it resolves the issue. I am just worried it doesn't malfunction while driving. I've been told it's not dangerous to drive. My car is a 2011 Ford Fusion with 135k km's which comes out to 84k miles. Any advice on if I should not drive the car etc?
  3. I'm sure the problems are due to the fact I've been driving to work every day for the past 2 years. there's so many pot holes and shitty roads due to weather in Toronto as well. But ever since I've got the control arm and tie rods replaced, along with the brakes the car drives like new. I should really take the train into the city and I'll save myself money on my car from the wear and tear. A few weeks ago before I did this, I went to one mechanic and he heard the creeking noise he said to me " I don't want to waste your money but the problem is the steering column" and after going to this mechanic it wasn't even that. I cannot trust mechanics.
  4. Since I know ZERO about cars and fixing them, the paranoia sets in, that and bad rap mechanics get. But I did ask around and people said the price I paid sounds reasonable. But I do notice a huge improvement..except for my brakes for some reason.
  5. Just wanted to add, the guy seemed a big shady, he just threw numbers at me and was about to send me on my way without an invoice, but only when I asked for one he wrote everything down...the thing is there are different levels of parts and quality. So unless he writes down exactly who made them I would never know which quality of part he got. But $1000 seems a lot for what the parts I got. I'm pissed at myself for not digging deeper and that's what happens when I do things when I'm tired.
  6. Hey there, I had the time to do the repair work today since gov't employee's get Easter Monday off, so went to a mechanic and had to get 2 tie rods replaced, I am sure he only replaced one but said he did both, he replaced something control arm passenger side, the front brakes and roters..all for $1,000. I feel I've been scammed. This seems a lot for what he replaced.
  7. Great, thanx for that info, I will need to head over to a mechanic...finding an "honest" one is a task in itself. So many pot holes here due to on and off cold and warm weather here....first time needing to go to a mechanic in the 8 years I've had the car..excluding oil changes.
  8. By the way did it cost a lot to replace the rod end and control arms??
  9. Thanx for that info..I should and will check it out. Seems that it makes noise in cold temperature. We've been having cold weather here in Toronto then warmer temp etc.
  10. I have a 2011 Fusion and lately when I steer it's been making creaking/squeaking sounds when I turn the steering wheel around. It stopped for a bit and now it's back again. I went to one mechanic and said to me " I don't want to waste your time but Ford has steering column issues and you either have to bear the noise or spend a lot of money replacing the steering column" he said it shouldn't be dangerous. I wanted other opinions and other mechanics said they can't figure it out without lifting the car and looking underneath. I don't want to spend money when I don't have to and I don't trust mechanics as lot will say things to make money...has anyone else experienced this? Or know what this is about? Is it dangerous?
  11. I've had my 2011 Fusion for 7 years, 91,000 Km's and never had to go to the mechanic for any issue. Knock on wood. It's a shame they're discontinuing the Fusion. But once this car is done, my next car will be an SUV. The New Edge looks really nice. But most likely will not be a Ford.

  13. Hi all, This is my 1st car, before this car I never needed one and relied on transit as I was living in the city. So here's my question since I hardly know about maintenance of cars, I got a question on maintenance.. I've got a 2011 Fusion with 62,000 kms which is about 38,000 miles for the American readers, I've owned it for 5 years. I've done tire rotations and a couple times alignment. Along with the usual oil changes. I purchased the car new from the dealer at the time and since I've never had to go to the mechanic for any issue (knock on wood). Perhaps it's because there's hardly any mileage in it. So, what do I need to do to maintain it, like air filter changes? other filter changes if any? transmission fluid change? cleaning of the engine which I don't how to do? What do other Fusion owners recommend? Thanx in advance.
  14. LOLOL, I did say the grille is ugly...my 2011 Fusion tail lights is ugly, what's up with the fish wire net in tail lights in a car ..lol..but I still bought it. It's been very good to me almost 5 years and no issues, no mechanic (knock on wood). I'll keep repeating it..lol..because you cannot say that about many cars especially a Ford.
  15. The grille look like Aston Martin, it just looks like other cars, no wow factor when I first saw it back in 2012. If anything, Lexus is ahead of the game with their designs no other car looks like their new models. The only thing going for them is that they're not the ugly cars they used to be except for the CMax, now that's an ugly car, like the Kia Rondo.
