  1. I purchased a 2012 Ford Fusion back in May of 2014. When I bought it, it had 26,000 miles on it. Well anyways, I have noticed that at times it seems the car gets confused on whether to shift up or not. A couple of times when I am trying to merge and accelerate on the highway, the car will like "freeze" and not shift up to the next gear. If I let off the gas completely, and reapply pressure, the car will then shift up fine. Is this an onboard computer problem that controls the shifting? Or a physical problem with the transmission? There was also one time I put it in reverse and pressed on the gas, and it revved and then jolted back like a foot. I put it in park, put it back in reverse, and it reversed fine. It's only happened a few times, but with the car only being at 50,000 miles now, I am somewhat worried for later on down the road. What do you all think? Something minor not to worry about? Or is this an early sign of transmission failure?
  2. After doing some digging around on Ford's website, I found there is an add-on for a proximity alarm on their accessories website. Including installation it's just under $300. Is that a decent price? And do you think since it is installed by the dealer they can integrate it with my current factory alarm? As I already have an extra fob for my remote start, adding another fob would be ridiculous.
  3. After graduating high school at the age of 18 I decided to buy a 2012 Fusion. I just purchased a fully loaded SEL a little over a month ago: touch screen nav, BLISS, reverse back up camera, heated seats, etc. However, the second night I had it someone took a crowbar to my drivers side front and rear doors in an attempt to pry either of the doors open. I don't know if they were going to steal my navigation system or what, but I am absolutely livid. The damage comes to over $2000. Is there any way I can add a proximity sensor to my Fusion's current OEM alarm system? I don't want anyone near my car without the alarm going off. I was honestly surprised the alarm didn't go off, as the dents left in my car are massive. They must have been using a ton of force. If you don't know what a proximity sensor is, here is an example:
  4. So today I had my SYNC with Voice-Activated Navigation updated to version 4.2.1.4. In the update details it says: This new software will provide the following enhancements to your current SYNC® system: - Updated Bluetooth device connectivity - Improved system stability - Improved media player functionality - Enhanced voice recognition capabilities - Optimized for use with Apple iOS 6 for incoming text messaging This update includes improvements from all previous SYNC updates such as flattened phone grammar, improvements in device indexing, text messaging capabilities with the implementation of message access profile (MAP), and more. For additional information on previous updates, visitSYNCmyride.com. My iPhone 5S with the latest version of iOS 7 still does not completely interact with SYNC. I checked Apple's website, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3647?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US, and it lists iPhone 4's and later are Bluetooth MAP (Message Access Profile) capable. MAP is turned on under SYNC settings, so why does text messaging still not work? Any ideas?
  5. I see. Do you know how I would obtain like firmware updates for the Clarion system, or how to check to see if there are any?
  6. So I just purchased a 2012 Fusion SEL with the optional SYNC with the 8inch touch screen navigation. Does anybody know when the last software update was released for this 1st generation SYNC system (MyFordTouch wasn't put on the Fusion until 2013 model years)? My software was last updated on June 22, 2012 to version Gen1-V4.1.3. Does anybody know if that is the most recent update? Also, is there anyway to somehow install the MyFordTouch software onto the 2012 Fusions? With the current software I am already able to adjust climate control, radio, media, etc. using the touchscreen just like MyFordTouch users, however the interface looks outdated and not as refined as MFT.
  7. No, I haven't had any starting problems. The airbag light comes on when you start the vehicle, turns off for about 3 seconds, then comes back on.
  8. I have a 2007 Ford Fusion SE V6 and my airbag light has been on for a long time now. I know, I should have gotten it fixed a long time ago but I just kept putting it off. I wasn't sure what could possibly be wrong with it because my sister crashed my car and ever since they repaired it the light has been on, although the airbags did not deploy in the crash because she was only going like 20 when they hit. I've recently noticed though that my front passenger belt reminder doesn't work. I double checked my manual to make sure my car had the chime reminder for both driver and passenger, and I checked that it was activated on both passengers. However, even with the chime setting turned on, the chime does not activate when a passenger in the front doesn't buckle up. I plan on taking it in on Monday, but does anyone think the airbag light and the passenger belt reminder could be a connected issue? Any quick fixes to try?
  9. How much do you think that would cost?
  10. So my 2007 Fusion SE V6 is coming up on 100,000 miles. My dad got a new car and I received his old Fusion. I love my Fusion, except for that hideous green backlit speedometer and the terrible gas mileage I've been getting recently. I am getting 17 mpg city and around 23 mpg highway. When I told my parents they said it was because I accelerate too quickly, so my dad drove his old Fusion for a week. What would ya know! He got worst gas mileage than I did. So we took it in to the shop. They said that at 100,000 miles spark plugs should be replaced, so they went ahead and did those. The dealership quoted us $450, our local shop did it for $250 with good quality platinum plugs. They also told us not to use any grocery store gas from Kroger, Walmart, Sam's, etc. I was already using Shell because I knew how crappy Louisville's gasoline is and I can redeem my Kroger fuel points at their stations, so it was the same cost to get the better Shell gas. After I told them I had been using Shell since I received the car from my dad back in January 2013, they told me to get two bottles of Chevron Techron additive and put one bottle in the next time I filled up and follow up with a second treatment on the following fill up. They told me that the "fuel system cleaning" that is offered by shops is a joke and a complete rip off and that the Techron cleanser is the best stuff out there. These guys have been running this shop for 20+ years so I believe them over the Midas or Ford dealership guys. I also just replaced the engine air filter recently. However, after all of these things I am still receiving the same poor gas mileage. What would you all recommend for me to do?
  11. I think I'll just go back to the stock incandescent bulbs. The resistors I have are marked as 50 Watts. Can't a 17 year old just have a sweet, unique looking car?
  12. Yes I tested it before putting in the load resistors and the LEDs worked fine except for the hyper flash on the turn signals. I desided on the 6 ohm resistor because that is what multiple forums recommended. They said a 3 ohm resistor would be too small and wouldn't stop the hyper flash issue.
  13. The LEDS are actually brighter than the incandescents, and you can see them much better at night from far away. Less likely to get rear ended. I purchased the ones that have bulbs in 360 degrees around instead of just in one direction.
  14. So I attempted the LED tail light/turn signal mod on my 2007 Fusion today, big mistake. I connected the 6 ohm resistor to the turn signal feed and to the negative. I know these are the right cords I have connected. However, my turn signal and break lights work, but my running lights don't. If i swap the connectors on the LED light to their opposite sides my tail lights work but my break or turn signals don't work. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to do a third splice between the tail light positive and the turn signal positive? I really don't want to be stuck with incandescents after all of this work.
