  1. Does anyone know if you have to run the band around the wheel to hold the TPS ? will the newer sensors work without the band ?  Its a 2009 Fusion Planing on Motocraft TPM  9l3Z-1AB9-A sensors. Also directions to relearn the computer?

  2. Looking to get the 5 spoke 16" alloy wheel from a 2006-2009 Ford Fusion. I already have 3 from a wrecked car, and 4 nearly new Blizzak tires. The only thing stopping me is finding the 4th rim. TPMS is not important as I don't believe the 3 I have include them. eBay has not been helpful so far, and Winter is right around the corner, so I figured I'd check in with the all-knowing Ford forum. Anyone have a spare laying around?!
  3. I agree to shooting it, I HATE electrical issues. We went through every power option breaking in a Dodge Caravan way back when, and it was a nightmare. It ended when we traded it in with an always-wet-inside Cavalier for a Saturn, and never looked back. Anyhow, I was told it could be a connection before, but it's been to the dealer twice with no luck. An aftermarket car starter was put in, but this was a problem since we got it, and we had it for a year without a starter yet the problems existed even then. Lately, it seems it's happening a lot more often for a lot longer. The thermostat was also a suggestion, but never the battery. Could a battery in a 2008 already need replacing? Seems a little strange to me, but I could believe it, as it is the factory battery. Also, the temperature for the interior of the car has always been right, but exterior is sometimes way off. That happens more in the Summer than the Winter, actually. * Yesterday, on the little display, there was CAL - which, I didn't know what it meant. Right when I was turning into the driveway, Calibrating (Something) quickly came up, and naturally I missed it as the wheel was in the way. It was gone by the time I stopped the car. Any ideas, and could it be related?
  4. First thing in the morning when I start the car, when it's really cold (maybe 20 degrees F. or below) some indicator light will appear. Most often, it's the Airbag, and when it's not, it's the ABS. The light will either stay on until the car warms up really well (it could take a while) or it will last the entire trip, and then be gone the next time I start it up in the same day. The heat almost never comes on when it's really cold out. Obviously, I leave it on at the desired setting when I leave the vehicle. It will not make a difference if I use the remote starter or if I start the vehicle when I get in. The heat almost never comes on when it's really cold outside - I'll have to fiddle with it, usually hitting the On button as if it was Off, when I in fact left it On to begin with. I have 2 major concerns. When the Airbag light is on, that usually means it will not deploy if there is an accident. Isn't that wonderful?! The other is that there may be some deep electrical problem that no one can figure out or no one wants to figure out. I know it can't be diagnosed by a scanner when it's not happening, but does anyone have any ideas or answers to this one?
  5. I actually had another question related to this; does anyone else have an issue with the left edge (driver side) of the windshield not defrosting well? It's a stripe a few inches wide that runs the length of the whole A-pillar. I get a lot of foggy moisture there quite often.
  6. Well, that explains it! I come from older cars / trucks where A/C just meant cold, and that's that. Never considered it as a Climate Control feature. Thanks a ton, that was a quick and simple answer.
  7. Every time I get in the car and press the Auto button for the Air, the A/C comes on with it. Hitting the A/C button turns it off, so it's no problem, just annoying. Does anyone have an explanation for this?
  8. I am ready to finally get some Winter tires on my 08 Fusion SEL, but I have a few questions first. Obviously, the SEL came with 17" 5-split-spoke alloys. I scored three 16" Michelins on 5-spoke alloys for $150; $50 apiece. It was a steal, and I couldn't pass it up - I just wish I got all four! Here's where my multiple scenarios come in to play. Part A.) Should I track down a fourth wheel to put Winter tires on later? I have a lead on a nice 16" wheel for $85, totaling $235, which is before the cost of tires. If I buy tires (likely Craigslist from others; I don't want to buy new) what size should I look for? 225/50-17 is the stock tire size. 255/55-16 is the same width, and just barely a little shorter than stock. 0.4% difference compared to stock. 205/60-16 is much narrower, but again, just a little shorter than stock. 0.7% difference compared to stock. Part B.) Three people in my area are selling four 16" wheels, all 205/55-16. $450 - Wintermark tires on 16" alloys, Two seasons old. I offered him $400 and he came back with $425 so far. $475 - One season old Winter tires, but no brand listed and no mention if they're steel or alloy. $400 - Firestone FR710s on 16" alloys. Not much help, but thought I'd mention it. Maybe I could sell or trade the Firestones for some Winter tires? So essentially, my question is this: should I get a fourth rim and go tire shopping, or should I get a set of 4 and sell the 3 I originally bought? I'm personally leaning towards the Wintermarks in Part B.
  9. You would assume that, but it's a V6. Like I said, absolutely shocked that we got what we got at the price we got it! I absolutely love it. Looks like I'll have to! I'll get those up sometime soon, for sure. Thanks for the Welcome, folks!
  10. Hello all! I was thrilled to find that there was a forum for Saturn owners, and it's been extremely helpful to me like you wouldn't believe. I was looking around the Chevy S10 forum for a long time for truck help too, for the longest time. What a surprise that my fellow Fusion owners have made up a home online as well! So glad to see! We own a 2008 Ford Fusion SEL, and we are the second owners of the car. The first owner was not actually a private party, but a rental company. Now, I know what you're thinking; Eek! A rental car that's probably hit 100mph and has likely caught air on more than 1 occasion!!! We got it in 2009 for $13,995, and it only had 12,000 miles. Yes. That's right. Twelve-thousand miles! I have still never seen a similar vehicle priced so inexpensively in my area - not even the base S versions. This vehicle has every option available except for the sun roof, in-dash nav system, and leather seats. It's. Got. (Nearly.) Everything!!! I love it! My level of excitement is only heightened because I came from a 2002 Saturn SL1, where the only included options were Auto trans and A/C. I still love my Saturn more - sorry. It's just my baby. Anyhow. I'll stop rambling. I hope to get to know some of you on here. If this forum is anything like the Saturn forum, I'll be a happy camper!
