  1. Hi All, I have a 2008 Fusion S with 97,380 miles on it and recently my ABS light has been coming in at startup and intermittently when I brake. This morning the brakes felt shaky and grinded a little when I pulled into my work parking lot. Mind you the front calipers were rebuilt in March and all four rotors and pads replaced. Recently my transmission cooler lines were replaced (that was expensive as all get out) and this is a brand new problem. I have an OBDII scanner and looked for codes but there are no codes in the ECU which makes me think this could possibly be mechanical. Anyone else had issues with their ABS that could provide a little insight?
  2. Just wondering if anyone has had this issue with the interlock in their Fusions... I have a 2008 S 2.3L Automatic and just recently my shifter has been getting stuck in Park. I've checked the bulbs- they're all new, and the brake lights go on without issue. I've been able to tun the key to the 'On' position and shift into neutral to start the car, but recently the button on the shift knob has been sticking there too. I've had to resort to pushing the spare key into the override slot. After taking the plastic cover that hides the guts of the shifter I noticed that the little plastic tab that pulls back when the brakes are pressed is not pulling back to allow the button on the shift knob to be depressed to shift into a different gear. I've cleaned the solonoid up with Master Air Flow Sensor Cleaner and the issue is still happeneing. Could this be an issue with the electrical charge going from the brake trigger to the solonoid? Or could it be the solonid is fried? Any thoughts, advise, insight are appreciated!
  3. Ressurecting this from the dead... the noise was caused by bad control arms on my front wheels. Since being replaced (along with three rotted body mounts) the car sounds great and handles beautifully.
  4. Not yet no, wasn't the dust shield bent-- that was ok. It's not the bearings or CV-- had both checked since my last post. It's still occurring when the wheel is spinning at a high speed (60+ mph) for 30 minutes or more. It does not do this on the back roads; it really is starting to chap my hide for sure. I'll be getting four new tires and brakes done in the next two weeks so I hopefully will have an answer by then.
  5. Ok two days without the wheel cover on and the clicking continues, but it's varied due to temperature oddly enough. When it's hot, there's no click, cool mornings it clicks like crazy. I am going to pull the wheel off this weekend and check the dust shield to see if it's bent, or if anything could potentially be rubbing the caliper (like something caught on the rim).
  6. As I am looking at the sheet they gave me the exact cause was (and I quote :P ) "Loose fitting on wheel covers"...last time I checked my wheel covers were plastic and don't appear to have fittings (??) I did take the wheel cover off when I got home tonight so I will see if that does anything! Excellent point about the dust shield. I will most likely be taking the wheel off Wednesday when I'm not at work to take a look. That's what I thought as well...they make that trademark 'clunk' when you turn the wheel at least in my experience! The boots on the CV joints are all intact and not leaking any grease, I had a multi-point inspection done to rule that out, although I will be getting under there myself to check it out as well. Excellent suggestions from you both! I will be taking the wheel cover off tomorrow morning on my ride into work and listening to see if I hear the clicking. On an odd side note, I am on the highway on my ride to and from work and the clicking happened this morning, I was doing 70 mph and it was cool outside. My ride home I did 60 mph and it was significantly warmer but no clicking whatsoever.
  7. Hi All, I have a 2008 Fusion S that makes a rather annoying clicking noise from the front left wheel when I am primarily turning right when the car is in motion, this noise also is heard on the highway while the car is in motion and travelling straight (I've checked the treads and there are no rocks, screws etc. in the tire). I brought the car to the dealer who told me it was the wheel cover, yet the clicking remains. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what could be causing this? Thanks!
  8. FD...this must be the gold stuff then...it's definitely a pale orange/amber in the coolant bottle. Upon popping the cap off and looking it appears gold in color...definitely factory coolant. DEX-COOL has eaten gaskets on me in the past and I agree Prestone is evil stuff. bbf-- Thank you for your initial reply and the followup to FD's response. Both extremely informative! I appreciate the excellent advice from both of you! :beerchug:
  9. Hello, I bought a 2008 Ford Fusion S 2.3L last week with 57,350 miles on it. When I was given the maintenance record from the dealer, nowhere was it listed that a coolant change had been done. Upon opening the hood and checking the fluid levels when I got home I noticed orange coolant in the car as opposed to the standard yellow/gold that is used in Fusions. The coolant is low and I need to top it off...any suggestions on what to do? Orange or yellow? Thanks in advance.
  10. Hi Everyone! I wanted to pop in and say hello to the forum, as I am a newly registered member here. I am the proud owner (second owner) of a 2008 Fusion S 2.3L I acquired last week; so far I love the car and wanted to hop on board with other Fusion owners to ask questions, learn more, etc. I have owned two Tauruses prior to this Fusion...an 1988 GL and a 1997 LX...both former family vehicles (station wagons). I'm glad to have a car that doesn't feel like it's going to roll over when I take a turn!
