  1. Just noticed the other day when washing my Fusion that the left side headlight lense is starting to yellow. Car is almost four years old. Originally a southern car, then spent a couple years in Michigan and is now back in Atlanta. Still seems premature though. Has anyone elses started to yellow/fog up?
  2. Probably has alot to do with pulling the vehicle from a Mazda designed/engineered platform. Ford then added their parts and as they say "de-contenting" and "material cost reduction" measures to develop a solid competitor. Is it a Camry or Accord, not quite, but can it get there, I certainly think so. -Not a Ford employee
  3. If I recall correctly, you latch the belt, then promptly unlatch it and it should stop chiming.
  4. I've driven and seen alot of Ford vehicles with leather seats. The driver seat does not hold up well. I don't know when exactly Ford went cheap. The driver seat in my 92 Taurus looks brand new compared to my 06 Fusion.
  5. Good question. I mean c'mon Ford, four cylinder CIVICS are quicker than four banger Fusions...
  6. If you're going to buy an extend plan, always go through the manufacturer's program. They are nation-wide and compared to the other aftermarket companies, more likely to be around. I saw a guy that bought a vehicle from one of those "buy here, pay here" dealers along with an aftermarket plan. The dealer never submitted the paperwork, took his $600, and he was on his own when he had to pay for his Escape's transmission repair. A co-worker had a contract on a Chevy Impala that he never got to use...the company went under a few months later. He did receive a settlement check a few years later though after a class-action suit.
  7. Yum! That would solve some problems! Any idea how long the transaxle will hold under the new power?
  8. 2006 SEL I4 with just over 63,000 miles: Door seals leaking/whistling. Lacks power, especially under 4,000RPM. Power steering very noisy. Rear main seal leaking. Rust bubbles on roof. Rust spots on rear decklid by chrome trim. It stalled randomly once at a stoplight without warning and the engine light was on. By the time I could get it scanned, light was gone and no DTC in memory... Recently started buzzing/vibrating at approx 3,000 RPM under load after it sat for three days in the garage, sounds like an exhaust leak but have been unable to locate it.
  9. Can you file an insurance claim on this one? I'm a Fusion cynic, but condensors and radiators are placed up front for a reason and they have to have airflow through them and do run the risk of having stuff hitting them. One of those "oh crap, why me?" situations unfortunately.
  10. WHAT THE FLYING !?!?!? I was washing over my Fusion recently (hard to do because of the Southeast "Drought" that has been long declared over) and noticed the rust spots on the rear deck lid and all over the right side of the roof near the windshield. UN INGBELIEVABLE! This car was purchased in 2005 in Georgia and spent its first winter in the south and never went to Dearborn. The following winter it was in Michigan and sat all over winter because I did not want it driven nor did I need the car. It then -spent two winters (07-08 & 08-09) being driven when my father assumed ownership used the car as a daily driver. It looks terrible! My 2002 KIA spent more miles and more years in Michigan winters and didn't rust on the surface like this! Great job Ford! :beerchug:
  11. It's called a parking brake for a reason. It wasn't just put there to add cost to the vehicle...
  12. I could have sworn Engineering said that ALL valve stems today come form China...
  13. Time for struts. 50K is their life expectancy. I was a skeptic, but you would be amazed at the difference that new struts can do after 50K. They wear out.
  14. Aha, I thought I had seen this before. Thanks! Mine is doing the same, only on the right front corner though. Ford Kowality or is it Cualidad?
  15. Had the same issue in the rain. Replaced the original Michelin tires at 50K on the odometer and so far so good!
  16. AXLE WHINE! I have it too. My dealer could not duplicate, but then again, they suck and are on the "the list" with Ford. Mine lasts from 60-75mph. Although, it may be a normal vehicle characteristic. I'd like to hear other MTX owners chime in.
  17. Your car lost value by thousands of dollars the instant you drove it off the lot because there hundreds of dealers that'll outsell/outfinance a buyer looking for a similar car.
  18. So Sen. McCain swapped his Michigan built vehicle for a Mexican built vehicle? Now, that's Change!
  19. You can always save up enough cash to buy it outright. Now how about that for 0% financing!
  20. After seeing the long-term durability of my 06, I am not impressed.
  21. Gear grindage? That's never a good sign. Could be a clutch, could be the shifting fork, could be the gears themselves. Ask to ride with the tech or the service manager and duplicate the problem for them. If that doesn't work, take it to Ford level, those people need something to do nowadays anyways.
  22. Is this yours? I saw this vid a few weeks ago as I was curious to what the Magnaflow sounds like. You didn't get the full catback, just the muff?
  23. Would be cool to have a six speed, but I doubt the Mazda unit would work because as it was pointed out, it is for an AWD configuration. Could always swap in a full 2.5 engine with six speed...but good luck finding one at a price point where it would be competitive cost wise with just getting a '10 Fusion.
  24. How loud is everyones power steering? I don't know WTF happened in the last 40K miles, but I don't remember the car being this noisy when I got it new.
  25. Anyone have problems with high idle on the 2.3 manual?
