  1. Any transmission engineer will tell you if there is enough stuff in there to clog up the OEM filter the tranny is already toast.
  2. Just FYI - leaving it for 8 hours did not work with my F150. Auto stop start would not work most of the time. Dealer reset the BMS and it’s been fine ever since.
  3. How old is the battery? If more than 3 yrs old I recommend replacing it. 80% chance that’s the problem when you have these types of issues.
  4. Just to further clarify some newer Lincoln’s also have an alarm sensor for occupants inside the vehicle. This is not an inclination sensor but actually is triggered by movement inside. This is probably not on any Fusions but could be on some late model MKZs.
  5. They do but only on newer vehicles and maybe only on Lincolns. Our old MKX and new Nautilus have internal motion sensors.
  6. You answered your own question. You can’t afford to sell it and get something else. $3500 is way high - even with $1K for tires I think you’ should only be around $2500. With the average new or slightly used car payment around $500, that’s only 5 payments. Unless you just want something different and don’t mind paying for it, keep it.
  7. There is no legal requirement for Ford outside the 3/36 factory warranty. It’s no different than if the modem failed. A class action suit would only benefit the lawyers. You have no issue with upgrading your phone every few years. Really no difference.
  8. At this point why doesn’t matter. Ford offers the upgrade at a cost - take it or leave it.
  9. What do you mean you can’t buy a modem?
  10. And Multitask wasn’t defending Ford he’s just explaining the reality of the situation. Everyone is correct here. Ford knew 3G was going away but chose to continue installing 3g modems. My guess is the Energi software wasn’t ready for 4G so they kept the 3g modem. Does it suck for Energi owners? Sure. But that also applies to all the other 3g equipped vehicles like my 2016 MKX. Is Ford required to replace the modems for free? Absolutely not. Would it be great customer service if they replaced them for free? Absolutely. Especially on 2019 models. But they chose not to do that. The upgrade is available if you want it. Ford isn’t paying for it. Griping won’t change that.
  11. And they’re all wrong, it’s an urban myth. drolds1 and I both know the guy whose team wrote the original software. Waldo is correct.
  12. All you need to do is use less brake pressure when stopping for a second or two and it won’t stop the engine.
  13. How do you know the battery is “fine”? How old is the car and the battery? If the battery and connections are truly good then the negative ground to the body would be the next place to check.
  14. Mine stopped working and the effect on fuel economy was noticeable - at least 1-2 mpg on my F150. It saves about 5%. All of the components are upgraded to handle the extra wear. If you just leave it alone the vast majority of folks would get used to it very quickly. But people obsess over it and decide they hate it on day 1 and never even give it a chance.
  15. Not morons, just less experienced than in the past. A lot of engineering talent was either laid off or retired the last 15 years.
  16. I’m going to guess it was a bird strike probably due to a reflection.
  17. I’ve never seen that type of fastener - it’s normally a t-20 torx or 8mm head screw.
  18. Its just 12 V dc power and ground. Repin the connector if possible or just straight wire it - no need to ever remove it.
  19. Sounds like an electrical connection that goes bad when the engine warms up. Might also be the PCM itself.
  20. I just replaced the AGM in my F150 - made it to 3.5 years, I think the AGM just makes auto stop start batteries last the same as the regular ones (3-4 years) not longer,
  21. Sounds like the IKT buttons are messed up. You could take it apart and clean it or just get a new IKT.
  22. One likely culprit is the throttle body but without codes it’s just a guess. Easy and relatively cheap to replace though if you want to throw parts at it.
