  1. Sorry to hear that. I would replace the battery and see if that fixes anything first. A weak battery can still start the car but cause strange things to happen. Good luck!
  2. Nope. It uses the same 8f35 as the Edge and Nautilus with a torque converter. No more fwd dual clutch trannies in the US.
  3. New blocks as in the new design, or just blocks that were replaced with the old design?
  4. I assume it’s the original battery. If so change it.
  5. That doesn’t sound right at all. They don’t usually fail that quickly nor that often and the new blocks are supposed to be fixed. I would ask for compensation of at least 3 lease payments and/or to be let out of the lease early. They don’t have to do it but given the unusual circumstances they might.
  6. There is a bolt hole for filling and checking level. You really don’t need to check it unless it’s leaking.
  7. Also this is why Ford doesn’t put real gauges in their vehicles. People see fluctuations and assume something is wrong.
  8. Both should be active. Could be the wiring or the APIM itself.
  9. You can disable it with Forscan, but one would think the horn honking is enough for her to modify her behavior. You can set the doors to lock automatically when you start driving, so do that and show her she can leave the fob in her purse or pocket, open the door normally (which will unlock it), get in and drive off and the doors lock automagically. If that won’t work, trade her in.
  10. Probably but you’re not getting all of it either way, so just do an extra drain and refill (4 instead of 3).
  11. The OM indicates there is one usb port under the climate controls and one in the center console. Where are you seeing two side by side? You should have access to 2 usb ports. You can access the 2nd port by saying "USB 2" if it's active.
  12. For the life of me I don’t understand this search for the perfect oil filter. OEM does the job perfectly up to normal change intervals. And you get no benefits beyond that. But the risks are pretty big not using an OEM filter. I’ll stick with cheap Motorcraft filters just like Ford says.
  13. They still recommend changing the fluid at 150K miles. When they say designed to be filled for "life" they really mean no maintenance is required - you should never have to add fluid. But you do still need to change it at 150K.
  14. Not sure where you were looking but the owner's manual is crystal clear - 150K miles.
  15. Correct. I should have clarified. If Aisin owns the patents for their e-CVT transmission then they can sell that transmission to anybody. If somebody else owns the patent like Toyota they can still sell it to others with permission from Toyota and by paying royalties. The point is you don't need to own the patent to use technology or a product made with that technology. I'm pretty sure Tremec owns a lot of patents on their transmissions but I can go buy one, put it in a vehicle and sell the vehicle without paying royalties. I already paid them when I bought the transmission.
  16. You don’t need a patent or patent license when you buy a transmission. Anybody can buy Aisin or any other e-cvt tranny. You only need patents or licenses on things you build yourself.
  17. The first issue sounds like a bad CHT - cylinder head temp sensor. The head gasket could also be blown but if that's the case the coolant bottle would be empty and there would be a loss of compression on at least one cylinder.
  18. I thought both Toyota and Ford (maybe Nissan) used an Aisin e-CVT. It was the software that was proprietary not the hardware.
  19. You nailed it - range extender. The idea was you could swap out the ICE range extender for just about anything - diesel, fuel cell, propane, etc since it’s just charging the battery. Of course GM never took advantage of all that. I think a regular PHEV with a 50 mile range would have been much better. But like most things GM does it was a one and done thing rather than a technology used across multiple vehicles and platforms.
  20. This is also why the Chevy Volt had worse mpg than other hybrids when running in HEV mode (battery depleted). It's less efficient for the engine to create electrical power to run the motor than it is to let the engine directly power the wheels.
  21. 2012 only had seatbelt pretensioners. 2013 added adaptive cruise with emergency brake assist and pre collision warning. After that I’m not sure.
  22. My 2013 had it. I’ll check the order guide for earlier models if available.
