  1. Any guidance? Would love to replace my grille as the finish is only getting worse.
  2. I believe that I experience the same type of noise. I've had it since buying a new Sport in 2012. I always just assumed it was a rough spot in the motor's design.
  3. The grille on my 2012 Sport had chipped WAY too easily and I'm looking at options to make it right. It seems like there are really no options to touch it up, so I'd like to replace the bars 1 by 1 and protecting them with plastic. My question is how easy are they to replace, and where can I get instructions? Is it easy enough for a beginner?
  4. I've had this happen a time or 2, but only when I give the starter a quick turn. If I turn the key and hold until the car starts I have no issues.

    Octane?

Thanks for the link. Interesting read, though it seemed to devolve into a bit of a pissing match at points! I think it answers my question though and explains why I had some difficulty finding concrete answers.

    Octane?

Let me apologize in advance if I seem a bit dull, but I'm not exactly a gearhead. Anyway, I always ran 87 octane, as was recommended, in my 2006 Fusion SE. When I bought my 2012 Sport earlier this year I assumed that I should continue to use 87 since the dealer never stated otherwise and I couldn't find any recommendation in the manual. Last fill-up I decided to use 89, and I feel that the engine runs smother and is more responsive, though it very well might be all in my head. So my question is what is the recommended gasoline grade for a stock sport? Is there any advantage or disadvantage to running 89 octane?
  7. Love the rims, and the color!
  8. I was a little surprised that the '12 Fusion came with the same tires (at least I think they're the same) as my '02 Focus. What kind of tires do you have on yours now? I don't necessarily dislike the '13 model, It's just a departure from the first 2 iterations. The new design screams "luxury" where the current one screams "sporty". It seems to me that they let the Sonota (which I think looks like an upturned bathtub from the early 1900's) influence the new design. I decided to go with the '12 because I was concerned that the center console in the new Fusion would take away too much of my knee room.
  9. So I have owned my 2012 Fusion Sport for about 2 weeks and I wanted to share some thoughts and compare it to my experience with my 2006 SE V6. Ride: The most surprising and immidiately noticable difference was how well the Sport handled compared to my old Fusion. I had absolutely no complaints about my '06, but with a tighter suspension, I did not expect the overall ride quality to be so much better. It swallowed up expansion joints and potholes on Pennsylvania highways like they weren't even there, and of course, it dove into tight corners without breaking a sweat. Interior: The seats also felt like they went through a considerable redesign. They felt much more comfortable than the previous model. I also appreciated the additional cubby to the left of the steering wheel. Now for some criticism - and a few interior details are essentially my only gripe about the whole vehicle. I miss the change holder. Minor, but it came in handy on long trips with tolls. I also hate the placement of the mp3 input. I store all of my music on my phone, and who wants to store their phone in the center console? At least there's a pass-thru so that you can keep your phone/mp3 player in the cupholder as long as your cord is long enough. Luckily, mastering sync eliminates this annoyance. I'm not a fan of the ice blue spedometer cluster. I also hate the cheap-sounding noises the car makes at startup and when you turn on the turn signal. Exterior: I requested my sport in silver because I thought it looked best with the darker grille. I briefly considered blue but ultimately landed on silver because I felt it would age more gracefully. After living with the car for the past couple of weeks I definitely made the right choice. I still get a little giddy everyday walking through the parking lot when I see my new ride. It even looks good slightly dirty. My '06 was black and I vow to never own a black car again because it shows every spec of dirt and every blemish. I also find the car easier to wash than the '06. The '12 grille is far easier to dry off. Minor, but sometimes it's the little things. Audio: I requested a sport with the moon&tune package, and I've been pleased with the moon portion of the deal. I'm lukewarm on the tune part. Honestly, I expected a little more punch out of the sony audio system. It sounds fine, but it just seems like it should be a little louder and have crisper bass. I also miss the 6-disc changer my '06 had. I realize I may be one of the last person that still uses CDs, but I am used to popping in several CDs and not thinking about it until weeks later. So overall I love my new car. If I had to do it all over again I would probably change nothing and purchase the exact same car.
  10. I've had my 2012 Fusion Sport (upgraded from an '06 SE) and that was one of the first things I noticed. all 4 windows seemed to raise at about the same speed on my '06. Just a guess, but maybe they upgraded the motor for the front windows in the newer models to include the auto-up feature?
  11. Thanks. So I took time to visit my local Ford dealership today on my lunch hour. I sat in a SEL with a moonroof. If i moved my head side to side my hair brushed the moonroof opening slightly but i felt comfortable. Fusion Sport here I come!
  12. Hello, I am considering buying a 2012 Fusion while they are still in stock, and I would love to get one with the moon&tune package. I've read mixed feedback on the amount of headroom the moonroof steals. I'm 6'3" and I currently drive a 2006 Fusion SE. If I adjust the seat properly (all the way back, down, and tilted back a notch or so) I have a couple of inches of clearance in my current ride. Can anybody share their experience with the current model with the moonroof?
