  1. I'm not running it very hard. Just everyday driving. I don't accelerate very hard since I like to save gas. The heat around here is just ridiculous. I did check the fluid level again today right after I drove it and it seem a pinker. I should take a pic and post it.
  2. O.K. soooooo from looking at the color of my transmission fluid it looks like I may need to have it flushed soon or now. I have a 2006 SE I-4 with the automatic trans. The car was delivered to me in April of 06 with 7 miles on it and it now has 22,500 miles. I recently moved to Phoenix where it has been averaging 110 degrees everyday and my fusion gets driven in stop and go traffic. I know heat is very harsh on auto trans fluid. The color of my trans fluid is no where near as pink as it used to be, it is more of a very faded pink with brown mixed in but still transparent. Should I get it flused? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
  3. At 70 mph the 4-cyl auto is at just under 2500 rpm, probably between 2400-2450. I hear the manual spins 3000 rpm at 70. Mine is very quiet on the highway.
  4. I just got an email from military sales, they issued me my VIN number and the production date is on the 30th. Apparantly I'm able to track my order on encs.com .
  5. Hi there, thought I would try this too. Although you may not be able to find my order. I'm stationed in England and ordered mine through the military car sales program. I went through the dealer at RAF Mildenhall. My customer number (through the dealer) is 9102256434. My factory order number is 647848. Thanks.
  6. I know the 6-speed for the 3.0 is made by aisen-warner, which is a toyota owned company. The mazda 6 boards rant and rave about this tranny over the old 5-speed auto. But who makes the auto for the 4-cylinder in the fusion? Apparantly this same tranny is in the 06 mazda 6 4-cylinders as well. Near the back of the owners manual, it says mazda. Do they actually make it? I know that prior to the 2006 models, the mazda 6's used the a 4-speed for the 2.3, and a 5-speed for the 3.0, both made by jatco. And both are known for surging, and failing, mostly due to operating at high temperatures. A lot of them are failing at less thank 20k miles. They are apparanlty sluggish and were not designed with much cooling in mind. Most 6 owners are installing aftermarket tranny coolers which remedies this problem. My question is, does jatco make the new 5-speed for our 4-cylinders? If so, I'm installing a tranny cooler ASAP and keeping a close eye on the tranny.
  7. Been cruising around the mazda 6 forums. Apparantly the oil filter on the 4-cyl versions use a cartridge type and not a spin on. It requires a special too to remove the cover to access the filter. The cover is made of plastic and can crack easily, causing fast oil drainage of the engine and ruining it instantly. Since my car isn't here yet, I was wondering if anyone on this board has the 4-cyl, and if they could take a look to see if ours has the spin on or cartridge. The mazda 3 has a spin on though, and many 6 owners are converting their cartidge to spin on using the parts from the 3.
  8. Someone at work told me he read somewhere that the fusion explodes when the drivers door is hit. Is this true? It can't be. Last I checked, the gas tank is under the trunk, not where the driver sits, Ha! He hates Ford anyways, he's full of it. Besides he drives a Chrysler, why should I trust him? lol. I'm sure that if the fusion was exploding in crashes, or for that matter, if any new car was exploding, I would be able to find it on the net. But I can't find anything about it. Anybody heard anything?
  9. I have to admit, at first I thought the tan interior was ugly. But when I sat in one with the tan, it looked really good. The light color makes it feel more spacious than the charcoal black. But the black looks good too, especially in person.
  10. The lincoln has a power passenger seat. As a matter of fact they are both 10-way power seats. I wonder if they would bolt right in to the fusion. Of you course you would have to hook them up to power too. Something to think about when these start showing up in junkyards because they got wrecked, a few years from now of course.
  11. Hello all, new here to this forum. I ordered a titanium green fusion SE, 4-cylinder auto from the tax free car sales on base. I'm currently stationed in England (USAF). I currently drive a 2000 nissan frontier crew cab, but I'm selling it and the fusion is replacing it. I couldn't stand the gas mileage anymore. Unfortunately my car doesn't get here until March. This looks to be a good forum and I'm glad to be here. There thats all I can think of for my lame introduction lol, have a nice day.
  12. I just ordered one 2 weeks ago from the tax free car sales on base. (Stationed in England). Ordered a titanium green SE 4-cylinder with the auto and camel interior. I saved a lot with the factory and military rebates, not to mention no tax. It doesn't get here until March though, Ford still has to build it and the demand is high. This is my first Ford, I've always hated them but I like this car because it is somewhat based on the mazda 6 and it is the first Ford I have ever seen with this good of fit and finish. They already have 3 Fusions at the car sales lot, a Dune Pearl SEL-V6, a titanium green SE-V6, and a merlot SE manual-cylinder. I test drove the SEL and was very impressed. I have yet to test the 4-banger to get an idea of what mine will be like. Overall I think these are very quiet and handle pretty well.
