  1. Update on vehicle performance after the oil change. I did gain about 1 mpg in urban driving. So far I noticed it seems to start easier in cold weather. Will find out this weekend how it does on a longer trip. Wife is going to parents (230 miles one way).
  2. First oil change with the new car. I actually let it accure more miles than I wanted before changing the "factory" oil. Hit 6,000 and changed to Amsoil 5-20 Signature. I am anxious to see if there is a significant difference. BTW the oil monitor said I had 40% remaining before I was due to change the oil. Personally, I've never let a car get more than 3,000 on conventional oil. My old SHO lived to 240,000 on this philosophy before my son wrecked it.
  3. Youngest son ran off the road and nailed a tree stump. Airbags deployed...total loss...no injuries.... Poor SHO....Mechanically it was bullet proof. No drivers allowed on the Sport except me and my wife....... Still have to post a photo of the SHO pre accident.
  4. I would not do it. I have known people that washed a Ford truck with the 5.4 V8. They ended up replacing 6 or 7 coils at $90 each when the water seeped in to the coils and caused drivability problems.
  5. Guess I'll have to dig up a photo of the dearly departed SHO and post it on my photo bucket account.....
  6. Will try and post a photo of our new Fusion and the now gone SHO....
  7. @ silver viper I have one from our new car. Still in plastic. From a 12 Fusion Sport. I will look in the trunk and get part # for you.
  8. When I installed my K&N I disconnected the battery for about 45 minutes to reset the ECM. If you do not do this it will take about 50 miles of driving for the ECM to relearn the new parameters.
  9. Thanks. Its difficult to gage a difference between the K&N and the factory filter. I changed it in the garage at home the night we brought the car home. I think the fusion has more power than our old SHO, but when the SHO opened up I can honestly say it was the most beautiful sound I have ever heard. That 3.4L 32 valve V8 was a bullet proof engine. It would redline at 7500 RPM and pull strong to the limit. The Fusion is great! it a little bit different kind of fast, but still a lot of fun. The SHO had SARC struts which made the car unbelievable on the twistys. I have not pushed the Fusion too much in the corners. I would have preferred a Tuxedo Black, like our SHO, but i got overruled... LOL
  10. Brand new 12 Fusion Sport, w/ moon and tune package. It is red (wife wanted red). Has the red/black leather seat combo. I really like it. We picked it up on 8/20. Haven't driven it a lot. Maybe up to 500 miles now (had 45 when we got it). This car is a replacement to our venerable 97 Taurus SHO. It has similar power, but doesn't handle like the SHO. Don't get me wrong, the Sport handles well but our SHO was a really good car too. Put a K&N filter on it for now. Will probably get the Steeda struts for the hood. May consider a rear sway bar and tower brace in the future. First impression is the Sport is a keeper. I did not go the AWD route. The car will ultimately replace our 2002 Aurora 3.5, the sport will dust it easily. ;
  11. Hey, yeah, I almost waited too long to be a 12 Fusion owner. Better late than never
