  1. I purchased a 2010 Ford Fusion SEL V6 AWD about a month ago and one week after I bought it, I tried to start it one morning and it did nothing. The engine did not turn over, only the radio and lights came on. It was behaving as if the security system had been triggered. Thankfully the used car dealership I bought it from went out of their way to try and make it right. They brought it to a car repair shop... however, the problem could not be replicated after they reset the computer system. Eventually they had to bring it to an official Ford dealership so a Ford electronics technician could look at it. They too could not re-create the problem so they did what they thought would best fix the problem. They replaced the starter and relay. I drove the car for 2 weeks with no issues. But then on Tuesday (of this week), I tried starting my car and the same thing happened! I was obviously very frustrated but I called the dealership again and they arranged to have it towed. When I explained the problem to the tow truck guy, he tried starting the car in Park and nothing happened. But then he tried to start it in Neutral and it worked! He tried it several times and it would only start while in Neutral. SO... now the neutral safety switch is being replaced and the Ford dealership is making adjustments to the shift cable which works in conjuction with the neutral safety switch (or so I've been told). I'm getting my car back today so I'm praying this will fix the problem for good! And I really hope this can help someone else who is having the same problem. Try to see if your car will start in Neutral. If so, then maybe this is the answer to your problem too! Best wishes!
