  1. Thefoeyouknow. Thank you! It all makes sense now! BTW I am impressed with the auto-dimming once it starts working. Every time it dims unexpectedly I look around and see two yard lights or two reflectors! When I buy a vehicle I usually get the helms manual. Waiting for it to be released for this one. I do have another question: Where is the temperature sensor for the climate control? My GMC pickup has it over the drivers head, being almost bald and a hot (not physically - temperature) person, I find it will wander off and not control well. I was wondering if I'm doing the same thing in the Fusion. It is very nice to have a person to talk to that understands how the car works - thanks. I replied to the email a while ago saying that the climate was always in auto, etc. but I guess replying to an email notification doesn't always post the reply on the site. Thanks Sheldon
  2. Thefoeyouknow: I thought I had replied to this earlier. As far as the climate control goes, yes it is in Auto. It is always in auto. I read the 'stupid' manual again. It says it will blow air out of the defroster and side window vents. This is blowing cold air out of the dash vents, which is not right, but the dealer couldn't find anything wrong. As far as the auto-dimming headlights, I went back and reread the 'stupid' manual. It specifically states in a cautionary note that the car is cold blooded as my subject says and may not dim lights right away in the cold. Funny, the service department that is supposed to know their product, tested in and found nothing wrong and did not tell me this was expected behavior. Now as far as wasting time, I am sorry to have wasted yours, it you would like you can bill me for it. But while we are on the subject of wasting time, how about my time: The first recall that left me without my car for almost three weeks (cars catching on fire). The second recall that left me without my car for a week (headliner). And now there is yet another recall (fuel tank connection) The poor quality of the voice from sync services that you have to listen to several times before you can understand it. BTW - while I was without my car and in rental cars I found that the cars that advertised 29 - 32 MPG on the highway gave me 2-3 MPG over their highway rate while my Fusion advertised at 36 MPG gives me 4-5 MPG less than advertised. I am very sorry to have wasted your valuable time!
  3. Hi, It seems that my Fusion is cold blooded. I set the climate control to 70. It's 55 outside. When I first start the car it blows cold air out of the dash vents. It takes a mile or two before it starts bringing the cabin up to temperature. I know that it waits for the coolant to heat up, but why blow cold air beforehand? It also has the automatic headlights. Again when I first start off, the headlights don't go to bright on an absolutely dark road and I am doing 35 MPH. After a mile or two it starts working fine. The dealer says it is fine and working the way it should. Really like the car except for the climate control operation and the fuel economy. Thanks Sheldon
  4. I have a 2013 Fusion with Active Park Assist which gives me the Forward Sensing System. I also have cruise. So I have most of the 'stuff' required for adaptive cruise. I guess I would need the steering wheel switches and maybe the heads up display. Probably would also need the computer to be reprogrammed. Asked my dealer and they said there is no retrofit kit. It seems Ford doesn't offer Adaptive Cruise on an SE? Any Guru's out there? Can this be done? Thanks Sheldon
  5. I did some research on changing to HID and the bottom line was that the reflectors are different and you will get better light closer but it won't shine as far. Don't know if this is the case with the fusion or not
  6. Just got off the phone with both the dealer and the customer line. Yes, Ford has delivered instructions on how to fix the car for the recall. What they failed to say is that a 'special tool' is required which won't be delivered until the end of the week. The dealer said it should be ready right after Christmas! At that point Ford will have had my car longer than I have! So I called the customer support line and moaned and groaned. Currently Ford is only compensating the owners by providing a rental car. I commented on how the rental was no where near as nice as the car I just paid $29K for. I said I wanted an extended warranty! They added my request to the data base ( I wonder if that is the round can on the floor)

Hi, Picked mine up on 11/14. SE - 1.6L, Luxury Pkg, Driver Assist, Nav, Bordeau with Dune interior. Dropped it off for the recall on 12/3 for the recall and haven't seen it since. I do miss it! Took it on a several hundred mile trip - only got 31 MPG, but it is still new. Maybe I'll get it back next week Shel
  8. I went back to the website and started a chat session and explained the issue to them. The web site now seems to be corrected as far as the HD Radio goes. I also read the manual again and the lane keeping feature seems to work as the manual says it does. Now, if I could only get my car back from the recalls....
  9. CTRCBOB: If I had only known it was a British engine! I owned an MGB with darkness by Lucas
  10. The dealer called me yesterday - they want the car back. Will give me a rental until it is fixed. They don't know how long it will take
  11. Hi Waldo, I was referring to the build and price on their website. When you look at the details of the nav package it says that HD radio is included. Thanks Sheldon
  12. I have almost 1000 miles on my new Fusion. Got the SE with the 1.6L Ecoboost, luxury package, driver assist pkg, and nav pkg. The web says that if you get the nav package you also get an HD radio. Well you can't prove it by me. I may have to go back and read the fm (Fine manual) but I don't see anything that says HD is available on the radio. Nothing new, but the Sync is slow. I really like the BLIS. It is pretty good about telling you there is a car alongside. The lane keeping feature - well I have mixed emotions about that. First of all in the settings menu it is on, but if you don't push the button on the end of the signal light lever, it isn't on. It seems to recognize the lane markings well. If it is on and you drift a little bit to one side of the lane, the steering gets a little harder and the wheel may vibrate, then once you go beyond the hard spot, if frees up and you tend to swerve a little. Again, I may have to read the fm. The vehicle health report is no big deal. It checks some things and then sends the report. It does not include the mileage, the oil change status. The report is only saved for 30 days on the website. The GM on-star does a better report and saves it (or at least it used to) The automatic high beams works great most of the time. But, sometimes I'm driving down a dark road and wondering why it hasn't gone to high beams yet. So far the gas mileage isn't so great, but it is still new. On a trip I managed to get about 31 mpg compared to the advertised 36. On my daily commute (mostly highway) I'm running 29-30 MPG. The Sirius radio has really good reception. I have two other vehicles with Sirius XM and the reception on both crap out in several locations including inside my garage. The Fusions radio keeps going far longer in these areas and even works inside the garage. I really like the car, the comfort, driving ease, roominess, etc. I will post more as I learn more about it.
