Here is the picture you asked for with the mirror tilted sideways so you can see the connections behind. The wires go into a connection block in the mirror. I did not remove the block but it looks like it would only go in one way. I do not not have automatic wipers but the mirror is auto-dimming. There is also some sort of sensor on the back of the mirror -- it looks like a small square lens.

There is no box behind my mirror. There is only a black metallic-looking mat embedded in the windshield behind the mirror. Remember, I don'd have a Nav. system only a compass and external temperature, both of which display in the radio and climate control panel on the dashboard. Many thanks for your help on this.

I don't know. I asked the body shop if they could have done anything that could have caused this problem and they said they did not think so because they put everything back the way it was. Can you tell me more about the magnetometer -- where is it and how is it connected to the windshield.

2011 Fusion SEL without navigation screen. Following windshield replacement, the compass reverses its east and west directions. North and south are OK but east and west are reversed. I have recalibrated and reset the compass according to the manual instructions (several times) but cannot correct the error. Can anyone help?
